Is Off the Hook in Highlands still open? MIchelleM131....On the Deck is the one at the Atlantic Highlands Marina. I gave it about three tries as it is so close to where I live and I love the views but the service was just not there. The food was mediocre at best (the coldest grilled vegetable sandwich ever). I really wanted this place to work but I just cannot justify spending money on poor service and so-so food because the view is so nice. |

Kunya Siam - New Thai restaurant in Atlantic Highlands Hey, thanks for sharing the website. I like the owners, chef and everyone there so much and I enjoy the food there, I second foodislove1958 and I really want them to make it. They are so nice and friendly and the service is excellent. I love the veggie dumplings and must add that they really want to please you--I always ask for the tofu soup and mixed veg sautee to be very spicy and they make it nice and spicy! Anyway, I just had to add my two cents! |

Would Love To Hear From You: Mc Loone's in Sea Bright A Wedding Venue??? Hello jerseygurl.....my husband and I were married there in 2003...but we have been back recently. I am a vegan so they have been very accomodating but I did find the menu pricey. I do like going there for a drink, the view can't be beat. The banquet staff and chef were wonderful to me and my husband. I thought they did a great job but I can't comment too much on the food. All of my guests said the food was great, but we had an open bar and I can't vouch if people were being polite or honest as far as the food went. Our wedding was a brunch but I would think the room would be dark (yes, it needs a facelift) if you were planning on having the reception at night. So, apologies for rambling but I would give Mcloones high marks for service, location and view but I would maybe suggest looking at other venues before deciding. Best wishes and good luck! |

Kunya Siam - New Thai restaurant in Atlantic Highlands Thanks for recommending the vegetable dumplings. I have ordered them each time I've been to Kunya Siam and I love them! As a vegan, I am very limited to what I can order. I am so glad they re-opened. They are very gracious and I think the portions are generous. I can't speak for most of the menu but the vegetarian menu items are delicious and obviously fresh. |

Kunya Siam - New Thai restaurant in Atlantic Highlands I ordered take out from there on Sunday afternoon. They have a new menu and I was pleased with my order. I'm vegan so I of course had the tofu and vegetable soup and the mixed vegetables and tofu. Veggies were fresh and I requested spicy, which both orders were. I would go back and would recommend them gladly. I am not an expert on Thai cuisine by any means but have tried many Thai places. Thanks! |

Niko's Trapezi A Greek Taverna Long Branch NJ Finally got to try Niko's. I wish I knew why we waited so long but glad we finally made it. My husband and I trust everyone's recommendations on this site and as vegetarians, we really enjoy reaching out to a lot of the contributors to see if we can be accomodated (without coming across as annoying). We went for lunch yesterday and the food was fresh and simply delicious. We found the host/owner to be very friendly and our waitress was beyond nice. We enjoyed that the owner went around to each table to ask how the meal was, etc. and we really liked that the diners were families as well as couples. Very charming. We loved the decor, it didn't seem like we were in a strip mall at all. Both my husband and I had items off of the mezze menu, which were excellent (eggplant dip, dolmades, salad, halloumi cheese). I think for some non-veg, this would be a nice start to a meal but for us, it was perfect. We look forward to many, many return trips. |

Vegetarian restaurants in New Jersey: do they exist? Hi ohromujici, val ann c and a couple other posters recommended Zaitooni Deli in Red Bank. I am vegan so I understand the position you are in. The owner is Lebanese and is such a sweet lady and there are many vegetarian options on their menu (hummus, baba ghannouj, falafel, grape leaves, salad, lentil soup, mujaddereh, the usual suspects). Her food is authentic, I mean, I felt like I was back in Beirut when I bit into that falafel! Their site is www.zaitooni.com and I know there is a post here on Chowhound. I noticed someone mentioned Jesse's in Long Branch so I am definitely going to check them out so thanks for your post. I am always on the lookout for something new and accomodating for me in NJ. Best regards. |

HELP! Vegetarian Visiting for 4 days Hi, enjoy your trip. If it isn't too late, I suggest Hummus Kitchen on 9th Avenue (I think it is between 52nd and 53rd). They are kosher and vegetarian and in addition to tasty hummus, they offer excellent mazze dishes. Falafel is to die for. |

Royal Thai - Atlantic Highlands Thanks Deb Van D. I found Manow's site so I will definitely look at their menu. Thai Chilies seems a little light on the veg dishes. |
Royal Thai - Atlantic Highlands equal_Mark--if you had to choose between Manow and Thai Chiles, which would you pick? Thanks. |
Royal Thai - Atlantic Highlands Thanks, equal_Mark. I'll have to check out Mie Thai. Either that or stop being so lazy and cook for myself! |

Royal Thai - Atlantic Highlands Radiogril1---forgive me, Siam Garden sounds familiar but can't think of where it is...is that the one in Red Bank? Thanks. It's just too bad about Royal Thai, I'll still go there as it's close and like I mentioned, I just really ask for tofu and vegetables but I really, really wanted Thai or something right in Atlantic Highlands. Thanks!!! |

Royal Thai - Atlantic Highlands Hi lien0569, I read your post and am really surprised that you did not have a good experience. I order from here a lot when I am home and like you, I really want this place to work because, I travel so far for work I'm lazy on the weekends and I really want a decent Thai place in our area. I have to say, they are really acccomodating for me (vegan diet) so I am not a Thai expert (i am most familiar with Wondee Siam and Chili Thai in Hells Kitchen). I generally ask them to make a lot of modifications to their offerings on the menu and they accomodate me. I certainly understand where you are coming from but maybe they were having an "off" day===not that should be an excuse but I am hoping that is the case. If you try Manow, please post your thoughts. Thanks. |

Niko's Trapezi A Greek Taverna Long Branch NJ Hi Angelina, you have given me some great advice recently. Would you remember if there were a few vegetarian options on their menu? My husband eats dairy but I do not so if you recall any items that could accomodate us both, we'd surely pay them a visit based on your review and the other comments here. Many thanks! |

Hi, I have tried Royal Thai a few times. They are very accomodating (I'm vegetarian) and while I wouldn't say it's comparable to Bangkok or the other places in the area, I am glad to see we have something other than pizza in the area! |
Thanks mkm01, this is helpful. I will definitely check them out and see if they have any vegetarian options but glad to hear you enjoyed. |

Ama Restaurant ~ Atlantic Highlands? Hi Shabby, thanks so much. This is very helpful. |
Thanks so much, bgut1! I am already impressed with B44. |
Good afternoon, has anyone tried this new restaurant? It looks new and I am interested in anyone's feedback. They are in the old Gianna's location. The menu says "Tuscan." Many thanks. |
I am finally having lunch at Bistro 44 next week. I emailed Chef Erik because I have a special diet and he emailed me within moments and basically said "No problem." Thanks for the great reviews/comments, I have learned so much and know this will be a great experience. |

menus with vegetarian options mon. county Hi, I would definitely suggest Zaitooni's in Red Bank. A few fellow Chowhounders recommended this tiny but delicious little place. There are several vegetarian options on their authentic Lebanese menu and options for yourself as well. I believe they are open every day. If you are looking for ambience, you will not find it here but the owner is very nice and the place is clean. The food is wonderful, takes me back to Beirut. |

Troy Restaurant (Turkish) Perth Amboy Hi everyone, |

Hi cranrob, not sure if this is in your neighborhood but there is a Thai place on First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands called Royal Thai. It is rather decent. |

Suggestions; After Theater New Brunswick Hi, it's been a long time but if Makeda's is still there (and I hope it is) on George Street, definitely check them out. They have a lovely Ethiopian menu. Although, you did get some great suggestions. I miss Tumulty's...Enjoy. |

Troy Restaurant (Turkish) Perth Amboy I just read in nj.com that there is a new Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant on Rt. 35 in Perth Amboy. I found their web site and it seems like they have an interesting menu (also have a lot of "American-Italian" options). I am not sure how long they have been open but am wondering if anyone has checked this place out. Thanks so much! The site is : http://troycuisine.com/ |

Hi again, Angor. Sorry, my boss unexpectedly appeared. If you do a search for vegetarian restaurants on either happycow.com or even on yahoo, you can find a list of places in Paris that provide the location as well as reviews from vegetarian diners. Enjoy your trip. |
Angor, try happycow.com for ideas. |
Thanks njchowgal, that is good to know as I definitely do not have a strong knowledge of wines (I tend to drink mostly Chateau Musar but more frequently have been drinking more Yellow Tail since it is cheap). |
Val Ann--I definitely will! I am sure it will be great. Thanks and have a good weekend! |
