The Works - coming to The Danforth
Really that`s shocking. Funny, I ordered off the kids menu for my toddler yesterday and her burger was pink inside which is a no no...... I`m really shocked and disappointed to hear that.
The Works - coming to The Danforth
Free lunch at the works today. They officially open tomorrow but were giving away free lunches today and asking people to make a donation to the Pape st. food bank.
Went in, place looks great, you would never know it used to be Pastis, totally and complete overhaul. Very loud but good great music playing. Very kid friendly.
Service was very friendly and accommodating. Food took a LONG time, 1 hr! I can't fault them though as it's the first day. Wait staff was very apologetic.
Burger was good, had a spicy burger with jalapenos, sour cream and avocado. Only complaint was that they didn't ask how I wanted the burger done, nor did I specify. Burger came quite well done. Next time I will know! Had onion rings as a side, were nice and crispy and served with a mayonnaise type sauce.
Menu is enormous and a little daunting.....
I will definitely go back, nice to have this option so close to home.
Salted Caramels.....I want these now!!
If you are ever in Union Station there is a "Purdy's" in the basement. It is a west coast chain and they make the most amazing salted caramels in both milk and dark. I am a dark chocolate fan but actually prefer their milk chocolate salted caramels. They are truly incredible!
Lemon Liberte - so good
oh... never seen the coconut, will have to look for that. I forgot about the prune, it's amazing! Will have to revisit it.
Lemon Liberte - so good
I didn't say a thing, eat up and enjoy!! There are much worse things for you and it is a fabulous Canadian company which I love!
Lemon Liberte - so good
My toddler loves the blackberry yoghurt. It takes all my strength to not dig in, it's like candy to me!
Lemon Liberte - so good
it's unreal how delish Liberte yoghurt is, rich, creamy and flavourful! I agree the lemon is amazing. Despite it being somewhat low fat it is very high in sugar, just a warning (as it's very addictive)
Pizzeria Libretto - Ossington vs. Danforth.
Haven't been to the Ossington location but I've visited Danforth many times and it's delish! The one difference I know between the two is that Danforth does take reservations (which in my mind is a HUGE plus).
Hope you have a nice visit!
LCBO spring beer release - finally a good release
2 cases of Westmalle from the Leaside location!! Thanks again for the heads up.
LCBO spring beer release - finally a good release
Thanks for this post! My Belgian hubbie will be thrilled about Westmalle, his absolute favourite (and I enjoy it too!). We've found it randomly over the holidays at some LCBOs but its so inconsistent. Time to stock up!
The Meat Dept - Danforth Avenue
Mmm sounds delish! That's a very big claim, you may have to share.
The Meat Dept - Danforth Avenue
Hey Milly girl, was that you talking to the owner about the threads on here about the butcher at yonge / eglinton and the whole groupon thing?
I too was in there last night, got some great steaks, I agree, fantastic place!
Hammersmith's (Gerrard and Logan) - great brunch!
Thanks for posting this, always good to know about new spots in the hood. You'll hate me for asking but is it kid friendly?
Best option for kid friendly greek on the Danforth
We have 14 m, 19 m, 2.5 yr and 4 yr. It's obviously for the older kids. They are very experienced diner and have been taught how to behave in a restaurant. That being said we are going for a 5:00 dinner.... :-).
Thanks again everyone for your input.
Best option for kid friendly greek on the Danforth
Thanks all, appreciate it!
Funny my friend with the three kids was saying how excited they are to see the saganaki opa, that's why they are coming over to my hood.
Best option for kid friendly greek on the Danforth
Hi all,
Looking to go out with 4 toddlers for dinner on the Danforth. Just wondering from anyones experience what a good recommendation is for a casual dinner. Doesn't have to be mind blowing food just somewhere with decent food and kid friendly.
My initial thought was Astoria. Any feedback / recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Burger Stomper and Milkshake Bar - Danforth Ave
That's great Milly girl, thanks for always keeping us posted on what's coming on the Danforth! While my intersection of Danforth and Donlands isn't exactly a culinary hot spot I would hardly say it's "dead". Things seem to be changing from the time that we moved there have been some great additions and we've discovered some existing gems Dim Sum, Pho, Burger joint, Makhar....... Went to get some delish olives today at the olive store just west of Donlands. Can't wait for "fro yo" this summer, delish!
Leslieville Cheese on Donlands
That's great news! Funny I was driving by today and my mother asked me if I had tried the fish and chips place on that strip. Haven't yet but would love to. Also am really wanting to try the menonite butcher, I think it's called fresh from the farm?
Restaurants at Bloor/Bathurst
I have always enjoyed Mt. Everest restaurant for Indian. South side of Bloor east of Bathurt. For Thai I used to go to Real Thailand on the north side near Spadina. Food always consistently good.
The Butchers, worst experience ever!!
To that note I've purchased many vouchers including what was the friendly butcher (now the meat dept) and I had a great experience there as well as other vendors and restaurants. Sure one never knows if a business may go under during the time a voucher is valid but that is a risk one takes.
From what I've read this is one particular vendor who is a terrible, dishonest business man. This is not the norm. Just my two cents.
Brunch near Spadina/Bloor?
Was thinking exactly the same thing, Gallery grill is fabulous for brunch.
Pho - Danforth and Jones
So I couldn't resist, I got take out for lunch. Had the vermicilli with chicken. The restaurant looked nice, modern and clean. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
The dish was good, truthfully I'm not sure it was any better or worse than the other Pho restaurants I frequent (pho hung, ginger). I did find the noodles a bit over steamed, they were a bit too soft but no big deal. Chicken was nicely seasoned and the portion size was nice although no spring roll was included in the dish.
The menu is fairly small but they have the basics, looking forward to trying some pho soup next visit. I'm definitely glad to have this new addition to the neighbourhood, I hope that they do will do well!
Oh and for those with kids they have high chairs and boosters, a great plus!
Pho - Danforth and Jones
OPEN!! Cha-ching! Not sure if you can see in the pic, open sign and saw a few people inside. Will definitely check out soon.
The Works - coming to The Danforth
Thanks for the review. I can't believe the price, $52??? Oh I'm disappointed to hear this......
Pho - Danforth and Jones
I havent' tried Makkah but a girlfriend was just talking about it, this is the place just east of Donlands?
I walked by Pho yesterday, looked a little promising. There were lights on and a few people eating at the back of the restaurant (not customers). I was going to knock on the door and ask the 411 but was in a hurry.
