Messa Kosher Restuarant, Hollywood, Florida Ate at China Bistro about 6 times this winter Nice to eat outdoors in a fun atmosphere A bit pricey Food seems to have come down a notch compared to a few years ago, but still great!! Love the Dan Dan noodles with ground chicken Ask for it extra spicy if you can handle it Very good Hot and Sour soup. Extraordinary Mojitos!! ( and you always meet someone you know!!) |

Supersol in the 5 Towns is now carrying the challahs and cakes of this wonderful baker from New City. The Challah was wonderful and The Chocolate babka was the best babka we ever tasted. |

Sunny isles/North Miami Beach\Aventura I usually start out at China Bistro with the extra large Mojito , then if everything tastes the same, I don't notice!!! |

Sunny isles/North Miami Beach\Aventura Cheesecake: I was in Hallandale dec-Jan and ate in every place you reviewed. You were right on target with all your comments. Additonal points: Grill Time has lunch specials which are less expensive, quite good and no huge crowds to contend with. China Bistro in Waterways is a bit expensive but never disappoints and sitting outside is great! Used Jacob's for Shabbos shopping a couple of times. Very good prepared foods. ( Rivals Kosher Kingdom and Sara's Tent!) |

Sunny isles/North Miami Beach\Aventura From Great Kosher Restaurants: Where do I start? Let's see.. and try to follow. Gourmet Carrot in South Beach moved to the Aventura Waterways where Pita Hut used to be (which used to be La Valentina, which used to be Prime Grill). Then Pita Hut, which already has a location on 41st Street, moved out of the Waterways and into North Miami, taking off for the now closed Yotvata. Jona's Pizza and Jona's Grill in North Miami is opening a pizza store on 41st Street, on the same block as Shem Tov, no less. Meanwhile, Shem Tov will be going under a major renovation as they expand into the location of Kosher World, calling it "Beyond: Pizza & Wine" while keeping the name of ShemTov (they will have extra seating for Yeshiva Week). Staying around 41st Street, there is 41 on the Bay in Tower 41, run by David Nesser & Greenwald Caterers; Europa Grill is in the Days Inn; Asi's Grill took over Mr. Chopstick on Royal Palm Avenue; Pistachio Gourmet Grill took over Sam's Deli as a nice upgrade; and Prime Sushi, with a location on 41st Street, has been getting rave reviews from their second location in Sunny Isles Beach. Meanwhile, Chai Wok, which is partly-owned by the same people as Jerusalem Pizza on 163rd in North Miami, is now in the former location of Fu Xing. And Sara's Restaurant on 123rd Street lives on...well kind of. The owners of The Fresh Diet and now the newly addedThe Kosher Fresh Diet has taken over the institution restaurant, calling it The Fresh Cafe. In fact, in the next several months, they will be opening up a meat restaurant next door, called The Fresh Deli. And Bissaleh which used to be a Miami institution of its own, closed last year, but has re-opened under new ownership but in a tiny location, in the same complex as Prime Sushi and Lul Café. And rumor has it that there is a nice dairy restaurant opening up in the Loehmann's Plaza on Biscayne and 187th behind Publix - but I drove around and couldn't find anything, so I'll keep an eye out for that. And of course, you still have all the established restaurants that have been consistently good over the years: Rare Steakhouse, Cine Citta, Thai Treat, Grill Time, Café Emunah, etc. |

Sunny isles/North Miami Beach\Aventura No more Sara's( another kosher place is opening in its spot) but down the block (on 123rd) is Thai Treat a most wonderful Fleshig Indian and Thai restaurant. Also, Waterways in Aventura has |

Bought a few of these side dishes at Waldbaum's. Curries etc. Expected slop, but turned out great. Made in India with an Indian Hechscher. Tried two last night; a chick pea curry and a red bean curry. Foil poch wrapped, no refrig needed. Can be microed, boiled in bag or opened and heated in pan. Over one year shelf life. They are either parve or milchig. Very pleasantly surprised. Bruce in Belle Harbor |

I saw Bruce Springsteen at Nassau Coliseum this past Monday. Did not know that Supersol had the kosher stand there. Hot Dogs and Knishes of course, but also sushi, chineese food, deli and more. All that and David K. serving you. ( Bruce was good, too!) |

Does anyone know what happened to Sea World in Far Rockaway? I was there a few days ago and they seemed to be out of business. And Kosher World next store had a sign in the window that they are now carrying fish. |

Has Anyone Been to SOLO for the Top Chef? As promised here is a short review of our experience Sunday night: The Starters were quite fantastic: We had the "Kona Kampachi Two Ways" The 5 spiced Braised Veal Tongue was very inventive especially with the Apple Persnip Puree. Both my son-in-law and myself love tongue, and he makes it different ways, and he loved this dish. I had the Pan Roasted Sweetbreads, which were amazing. The consistancy was perfect ant the addition of the carrots with a glaze and the Black Truffles My wife, being not as adventerous started with the White Asparagus with Mushroom Vinaigrette, and she loved them. Nothing too exciting, though. Both my daughter and wife had the Seared Red Snapper, and my wife, who doesn't usually rave about fish, really enjoyed this one. It was cooked perfectly anf the Roasted Fennel and Red Pepper emulsion added great flavor. I had the Grilled Turbot on a bed of Oyster Mushrooms and, again, it was cooked perfectly, was a fairly large serving and the flavor was enhanced by the Roasted Fish Jus. My son-in-law had the Sauteed Lamb Filets with artichokes and Chick Peas, and he enjoyed it, but it was not exactly as rare as he wanted it. We ordered two sides for the table, both very tasty. The sauteed Green Beans with onion and Chili Flakes was very inventive and the Mashed potatoes with scallions and Olive Oil were good ol Mashed Potatoes. We shared desserts that were all wonderful. Our service was very attentive and gracious. We were there at 6:30 on Sunday and the place was packed. Hung did come around twice while we were there for hand shaking and photo-ops. As tou can tell, we enjoyed the evening and the food. If you are going, try to stay away from the Steaks and Veal Chops. You can always get them anytime and why not sample some of Hung's real artistry!! Bruce in Belle Harbor |

We used Main Event for our kids wedding a year and a half ago and it was perfect. Everything went on without a hitch and the food and presentation was 100%. People are still complementing us. Bruce in belle Harbor |

A really off the wall question. My son-in-law is becoming a fairly accomplished amateur chef. He likes to experiment with rtecipes and one includes transglutaminate an chemical that binds proteins together, Any idea about kashrut? Thanks, bruve |

Any places to eat that are a few steps above pizza? Thanks, Bruce |

I have it on my Garmin 660. Works well but much TOO well in areas of Bklyn and the 5 Towns. It is constantly beeping and alerting me to minyanim and kosher restaurants. better in Manhattan etc. that is not so densely populated with these establishments. |
