Anyone tried Fusion on Main in Flemington?

Was it any good? I am sometimes wary of the restaurants that try to wear too many hats, Japanese/Thai/Indian all on one menu.

Has anyone been to The Bacchanal ?

I've been twice at my father-in-laws insistance. Just to give it "another chance". It is NOT good. The food tastes like steam table food at best. The steaks are not cooked to order. The decor is tacky and outdated. One of those touristy places that may have been nice 25 years ago but is in need of a major overhaul. Don't do it! :-)

Denser Cupcakes

Hi Folks,

Was wondering if anyone has a good yellow cake recipe for cupcakes? I prefer them dense rather than fluffy. I bought and made the Sprinkles Vanilla cupcake mix that I purchased from Williams Sonoma. I wasn't knocked out by the flavor but I found the texture to be great, nice and moist and dense. At $14 for a mix that makes only 12 cupcakes I was hoping to be blown away, but no dice. Also, are there any tricks for doctoring a Betty Crocker or Pillsbury mix to make the cake firmer and less airy? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks!

Aikou in Flemington

Have you tried Shiki in Flemington for Sushi? I love their Sushi. Their Chef does the Sushi for Shoprite also, I know that doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, LOL, but it is good.

The Best Thai Restaurant in Northern NJ

I couldn't agree more. Thai Thai is FANTASTIC!

Good chinese in Huntington, LI?

Jani by the Walt Whitman Mall is still fantastic. Was there during a recent trip to the Island. I wish we could get a chinese takeout like that in Central NJ. The chinese here is awful.

J and R steakhouse ???????

I'm never thrilled with J&R's in Calverton. It's my husband's grandma's favorite place but she hails from a double-wide trailer in a senior community a few blocks away. So, there ya go. It's great for a big group bacause the prices are low. I did have a bug in my food the last time I was there so maybe I'm just bitter.

LI Wedding Halls - What is a Foodie to do?

When I was planning my wedding, mind you this was 8 yrs ago, you had to find separate catering for Oheka Castle. They would give you a list of vendors that they had success with at other events but it was ultimately your choice. The location rental fee's were crazy even back then so we chose the Watermill, of the Scotto properties we liked that one the best. You can choose to make it as fancy as you'd like. We got decent reviews on the food but I must recommend that you insist upon a tasting prior to picking your menu anywhere. That wasn't offered to us and I was too young and naive to insist upon one.
