Pesce

We went Monday night too, 7:30 pm reservation. The restaurant was just about full. Our table of six shared about six sides and two whole fish, flounder and snapper, grilled and delicious! We all enjoyed. Also shared desserts and a couple bottles of good Cabernet Sauvignon. And we had cocktails to start. We will be back!

Need help with a few meals---staying near Union Square

Well we have one more night in San Francisco. So far I have us going to Barbacco and Perbacco for dinner. I need one more restaurant. Thinking about Cotogna. Would that be too much Italian? Or are they all different in their own way?

Need help with a few meals---staying near Union Square

Yes I do have access to french bistro types restaurants. I do like the suggestions of Barbacco and Cotogna. We also like that they are casual. We are on vacation and would prefer not to dine at a formal restaurant. Again, we get that at home in New Orleans. Thanks for these and all suggestions.

Need help with a few meals---staying near Union Square

We are going to be in SF area for just 2 days. We love food and are from New Orleans. Need suggestions for restaurants near Union Square and surrounding area. Will take cabs at night and maybe public transportation during the day.

Vizard's

Going to Vizard's soon. Any comments or recommendations?
Thanks.

Help - Herbsaint vs. Brigsten's

Both restaurants are great! I love both, but I just went to Herbsaint and it was delicious. Check out their menu at herbsaint.com. And brigtsens.com. I think they are different, so check out the menus. Both usually have specials too.
At Herbsaint I started with the spaghetti with a fried poached egg, very good. It is a little rich, but it was not too much. I shared some of it. My husband had the frog legs and loved them. I had the duck leg with dirty rice, husband had the chicken. Both were very good. And my dessert was also very good, the banana brown butter tart.
Also, they are both in different neighborhoods. Depending on transportation and your location that could help you decide, especially if you are rushing, from jazz fest to hotel, shower, and back out to dinner. But I do love Brightsens too. Enjoy!

Herbsaint

If I start with the fresh pasta with guanciale and a fried poached egg, then an entree, will that be too much? I noticed the fresh pasta is a "small plate". It sounds so good. But I can't eat too much, then an entree, and of course dessert.

Herbsaint

Anyone been lately? It has been almost a year since I last went. Anything new or changed? Is it still really good? How is the wine list? Thanks!

Help in Columbia, SC

Well, any Columbia chowhounds out there? We are going soon. Thanks.

cochon's Butcher - take 2

We went last night and enjoyed it. It is pricey, but worth it. You pay for quality ingredients. The boudin was very good, as was the muff and our pimento cheese sandwich. Also, the wine and beer selections are great. You can't get these things anywhere. Don't compare it to a po-boy shop. I will be back!

Help in Columbia, SC

We will be in Columbia, SC for two nights. We are going to Garibaldi's one night, which we like. The next night we might be going to Saluda's. Is it good? Don't want to waste a meal and evening unless it is good. Thanks!

Suggestions for Mother-Daughter trip

Thanks for all the suggestions. A friend recommended Pastis for French Bistro food. How is it? I know it is not near us, but he said it was worth the cab ride. My 20 year old daughter requested steak and frites. And Balthazar's was booked.
Also, where to get good bagels?
I do hope we can find time to go to Katz's.

Suggestions for Mother-Daughter trip

We are staying around midtown, around 60th, East side. Need suggestions for breakfast spots, Pizza, Deli, burgers, Italian and French. Also dinner near the theatre district. Would like to keep prices for entrees up to $30. Would like to stay in the area. We are from New Orleans and do not have good pizza and deli. Thanks!

Lilette

We went this past weekend. It was sooooo good. I had the mushroom, truffle toast---so good. Then I had the sauteed speckled trout, a special. Also, very good and two others at the table had it too. Others at the table had the eggplant appetizer, beef short ribs, and the gnocchi. All were enjoyed. I do not remember what the other 2 had. I think a salad and a soup. For entrees, 2 had the hanger steak with fries and marrow bordelaise. That was so good. Another had the cod, and enjoyed it too. We had desserts, the pear and goat cheese, a winner! And the nutella was enjoyed by a few others. Great meal. We will return!

Help in or near Tuscaloosa, AL

We went to Dreamland. It was the original. They only serve ribs. They were good. We will be driving through that area again, but need a lunch spot. Anything else besides Dreamland? If not, we will be back.

Help in or near Tuscaloosa, AL

Need a recommendation for dinner in Tuscaloosa, AL on Sunday. I have searched a few places, but they are closed on Sunday. The only place I can find is Dreamland. Any others? Thanks!

Birmingham, one night only

Well, we have to take a few of the suggestions off the list. We would prefer not to drive (drink and drive---trying to be safe). So we are limited to the Five Points area, which has quite a few good choices. But unfortunately takes Daniel George and GianMarco's off the list. We also are taking Highlands Bar and Grill off the list because my husband does not want to where a jacket (sport coat). We could go to Highlands if we eat on the bar side.
So I guess it is down to bar side of Highlands Bar & Grill or Chez Fon Fon. I know there are others but don't remember. Thanks

Birmingham, one night only

Going to Birmingham again, for one night only. We have done this twice before in the last year or two. We have eaten at Chez Fon Fon and Ocean. What else do you suggest? I have read good things about: Daniel George, Highlands Bar and Grill, Veranda on Highland, and Cafe Dupont. Any comments about these or other suggestions?

Stanley's Is it open?

We went to Stella's this past weekend, very good. I asked about Stanley's and they said they are HOPING to open in September.

Best Steakhouse in New Orleans Area

Had a really good steak at Crescent City Steakhouse last night. We the porterhouse for two. It was cooked perfect, medium rare. And it was delicious. Two of our favorite potato sides are the cottage fries and the german potatoes. Good cocktails and a good bottle of wine. Enjoy!

Best eats in Sapphire/Cashiers, North Carolina

Any suggestions? I will be in the Sapphire/Cashiers area, which is about 20 minutes from Highlands, NC.
Thanks!

Restaurants in Cashiers, NC

Any suggestions for dinner in Cashiers, North Carolina? I like The Orchard. For lunch we like Cornucopia. Never been to Osteria del Monte. Have you been to it? Comments....Thanks!

One night in Birmingham

We went to Ocean and enjoyed it. Thanks for the help. We went to Highlands again for after dinner drinks and dessert. Again a perfect ending to our night. We enjoyed our dinner at Ocean. We had the tuna and the hallibut. Very good. Our waitress was very helpful.

One night in Birmingham

Ocean sounds delicious. I checked their website. What is the dress code/attire?

Weekend in Columbia, SC

Sounds like I should go to Motor Supply. It will be on Sunday night. Do you think I should make a reservation? Or can you just walk in and get a table?

One night in Birmingham

Yes, it is Friday....this Friday. Prefer seafood heavy menu since it is Good Friday. I am looking for good food. Ambience....doesn't matter. Ethnic.....just good food. Would prefer something close to The Hotel Highlands, but do have a car. Thanks!
