I had lunch there a few weeks ago on a Friday and it was pretty dead in there--just one other party. I thought the food was fine, but fairly pricey. Also, they won't rush you along--lunch took about 2 hours.

AKASHA last night

Haven't been there since a terrible Thanksgiving dinner almost two years ago.

Key lime pie on the Westside?

I've liked Clementine and Houston's. I was also about to add Bite Bar & Bakery, but it looks like it is closed. I need to try Dolce Isola.

How Are These Mexican Restaurants in Santa Monica?

I had to chime in here as we ate at La Cabana last night (totally sober with multiple kids in tow). This was my first time at La Cabana (and will be the last). The food was mediocre and I had a really hard time communicating my shellfish allergy to our waiter. At one point it actually appeared that he was refusing to accommodate my request that they try to keep my food separate from any shellfish in the kitchen. It was really strange and awkward. Had we not been with other people, I would have got up and left. I'm hoping it was a language issue, but not sure as he acted rude about it. The one plus is that they were very tolerant of the little kids in our group and the tortilla lady gave them some dough to play with. That said, I would not go back. Would rather go to Gibert's or Don Antonio's.

Thanksgiving in Santa Monica?

We had Christmas dinner last year at Fig and it was terrific. The turkey was delicious.

Iso restaurant for Thanksgiving "HELP"

Last year we went to Akasha in Culver City and were very disappointed (we'd eaten there multiple times before Thanksgiving, but haven't been back since). For Christmas dinner we went to Fig at the Fairmont in Santa Monica and it was wonderful. I would definitely consider Fig.

Trying to decided between these two restaurants (have not been to either). Which would you try first? Thanks!

Nice Restaurants Without Full Bar -- Wine and Beer Only or BYOB

How about Gjelina in Venice? Great food and I am pretty sure they only have beer and wine (I don't know what their corkage is).

Venice restaurant gift card

I'd go with Gjelina or The Tasting Kitchen. I've had great dinners at both. Someone just gave me a gift card to Gjelina and I was thrilled to receive it. I've never been to Joe's.

Out of town hound looking for wine store

I want to send a friend in Atlanta a bottle of champagne for the holidays (I am in Los Angeles) and I cannot ship from California. Any local recommendations?

Thanksgiving in Santa Monica/LA

Wow, sounds great. I so wish we had gone there instead of Akasha. We had cold food and weak service.

Westside Gyros -- Mezza over California Pita

Since my Oct. 14, post, I've been back to Mezza two more times for gyros (I'm on a gryo kick right now). Anyway, the second to last time the gyro was pretty bad. The pieces were really small and almost all super salty/burned and very tough. Normally I give a few pieces to my 2 1/2 year old, but the meat was so overdone and chewy that I was afraid he wouldn't be able to chew it. The pita was burned too. My husband wanted to go there for take out this week, so I decided to give it another try and it was very good again, just like the previous times (also, no random pickles in the gyro the last two times).

Westside Gyros -- Mezza over California Pita

Agree with you. I was the one that made the original post and have since tried both (actually, have since been to Mezza three times in total). The only thing I don't like about the gyro at Mezza is that each time I've had a random (at least seems random to me) pickle inside the gyro. I'll have to ask that they leave that out next time. The salad that you can get with the gyro at Mezza is far superior IMHO to the salad that I got at California Pita.

Couple Questions Re Musha in SM

I had the Umami burger (first time, so wanted to try it). Husband and sister both had the manly burger. We also had fries, sweet potato fries, cheesy tots and onion rings (too many sides!). Our 2 1/2 year old (who uses fries as a vehicle for eating ketchup) enjoyed getting his own Umami ketchup!

After all that, we ended up at Umami burger; however, I do plan to try Musha in the near future!

Couple Questions Re Musha in SM

My sister is coming to town and we are thinking about going to Musha. I have a couple of questions though. Is it okay to take a 2 1/2 year old there? He does well in restaurants, but usually uses a high chair. Also, I have a shellfish allergy and am sort of limited by the fact that I'm pregnant (not eating sushi). Do you think they are able to accommodate/handle the shellfish issue? Our other option is Persian food. Many thanks.

Thanksgiving Dinner with Toddler

Thanks. The hotel route is a good idea as I'm sure there will be people traveling with kids eating there. We are local, but can't go out of town this year.

Any decent food at Legoland?

Well, we ended up eating lunch at the place that serves pizza and pasta near Duplo village (or whatever it's called). The "wood fired" pizzas looked better than by the slice so we went with one of those (it was edible) and pasta with marinara. The pasta was super over cooked, but my 2 1/2 year old didn't mind! :) We also got some fresh fruit. We did try the apple slices (even though we were warned), which were mediocre. Overall, not as bad as my last two park/attraction experiences which were a disgusting pizza at the Long Beach Aquarium and a horrible lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Disney. Thanks for all the responses.

Heading to Legoland and wondering if there is anything that's actually good or anything that must be avoided. Thanks.
