Fort Greene Ethiopian
Went for lunch a couple of weeks ago. My view is somewhat in between the extremes represented here so far. The injira was not the best i've had (I also like a spongy, sour bread), but was far from the worst. I had the meat combo...portions were a little small, but all items included were very tasty. The vegetable accompaniment was somewhat bland, but the greens usually are in my experience, and were tasty nonetheless. So..not a knockout, but in my mind Bati gets a split decision, and I will return for another try.

Fort Greene Ethiopian
Hey hounds,
An FYI
A new Ethiopian restaurant has opened in Fort Greene. It is called Bati, and is located at 747 Fulton street. I had hoped for lunch on Friday, but they were only serving dinner.
I'd love some good, local Ethiopian...the Ghenet on 4th ave. didn't do it for me.
jerk in crown/prospect heights
Joyce's....Avenue D, just east of Utica....amazing jerk chicken.....unfortunately don't do pork.
Best Jamaican restaurant
Joyce', on Avenue D, just east of Utica, has some awesome food, and a decent-sized sitting area as well. I've had the jerk chicken, oxtail stew, beef and goat rotis, to name a few items, and am always impressed with the quality of ingrediants, cooking and presentation.
"chiles & chocolate oaxacan kitchen" in park slope!
It is a very small space, but nicely decorated with with authentic furnishings to lend a real Oaxacan feel, and is indeed a full service restaurant.
"chiles & chocolate oaxacan kitchen" in park slope!
It's open folks....I stopped in for a taste...got a couple of soft tacos (chipotle chicken) and roasted corn on the cob...all very nice, but i'm banking on the moles and other main dishes to make this a special spot. Can't wait to hear what y'all think!!
Turqoise In Larchmont--any thoughts?
I play soccer with the owner of this restaurant....the decor is lovely....can't vouch for the food (haven't had a full meal yet) but the baklava is AWESOME!! Belly dancing on Saturday nights!!!
Opening Night at the Smoke Joint
Hey all,
I stopped in this evening eager to sample the new fare..one of the owners.. really nice guy... informed me that they are not officially open yet. They did do a trial run this past weekend, but won't open officially til this Sunday at the earliest. Looking forward to it!!
JOY to the world!!
Joy Indian, on Flatbush, deserves a taste from all who relish the savory flavors of Indian food and likewise by all who appreciate sincere hospitality!! I never leave with my takeout order before a complementary mango lassi, or two, has been added to my order, with the admonition to "share with your wife and son!!!" At home, my wife digs into her non-vegetarian thali (succulent tandoori chicken, delish lamb korma, yummy chicken saag) and devour my wonderfully spicy and tasty chicken vindaloo. My two year old loves the aromatic basmatti rice and the lemony mulligatawny soup. We all share the flavorsome bombay liver...and, if i'm feeling generous, the gratis lassis!! Also recommended is the chicken zira....and so much more. Go...chow down....and spread the JOY!!
