Will be hosting again my husband's company holiday dinner -- any ideas for outstanding food and wait staff? West Broward area/ Sunrise/Davie/Plantation....

One perfect dinner in Ft. Lauderdale

I completely agree - we went to Market 17 for a Vodka pairing dinner and had a truly wonderful experience. We can't wait to go back, and will soon. We loved the service, food and concept. We need more places in SFL that are not "ordinary" or chain. This place is a breath of fresh air!

best pizza

I agree with Anthony's Coal fired - and the chicken wings (which I normally do NOT like) are terrific - probably the best around. Another good pizza and salad place is next to Ikea on 136th in Sunrise (the strip mall right next to Ikea by the Saladworks) - can't remember the name - an Italian name - we've been there a couple of times and it is always good.

New Plantation neighborhood grill - excellent! Eddie's American Grill

My husband and I want to support local non-chain places, but in Plantation, that's a tough job unless you eat chineese take out all the time... However a new place just opened and we tried it on Sunday evening - and it was excellent! The name is Eddie's American Grill - located in a hard to see strip that is med offices and other offices on Sunrise (south side) between Pine Island and University (8320 W. Sunrise Blvd, Plantation). We have no financial or family interest in this place, it was just really good food, and a nice looking re-make - new owners (used to be several different names) family owned.
We had two things that aren't always on the menus, but HIGHLY recommend them - the shrimp stuffed with crab and the Mahi-nuggets. Both so good - done just right - large pieces of crab in the stuffing, and the shrimp cooked perfect - not sogged in butter. The fish had a very light crisp coat that didn't overwhelm the fish flavor. They also have happy hour everyday from 4--7 with 2 for one drink specials. We will be back - hope you try it!

Brunch in Fort Lauderdale

We just enjoyed our brunch with four out of town guests at the Grand Pelican Resort - really outstanding - everything fresh, and beautiful view -right on the beach in FLL. Omlete station, prime rib, fresh shrimp and many others. The cost is $30 per, but worth it for a great experience all the way around.

Great Sunday brunch in Broward county?

Pier 66 is excellent - but pricy for brunch - $50 I think - another great often over looked alternative is the Plantation Golf Preserve - it is a beautiful setting, but of course you won't get the lobster/crab leg thing, but really good fresh made to order omlets and waffles and many other dishes! You do need reservations if it is a holiday - otherwise - you can usually get a seat.

TOP WINGS IN FLA

I agree with Anthony's and so do most of the people I bring in.... There are several Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza (which is also AMAZING) - but the wings are so good, non breaded or fried, but because they are baked at such a high temp., they are crispy and full of flavor ... yummmmmm, beer to go along is all bottled, no draft. We go to the one in plantation on Pine Island in the publix shopping center - between Cleary and Broward

Great restaurants along Florida's Forgotten Coast

I'm not sure if it is still there - we usually don't go that far, but back a few years ago - the "That Place on 98" by Eastpoint was good...

Great restaurants along Florida's Forgotten Coast

I agree - Indian Pass has less choice and atmosphere, but probably better food - boss has more choice and atmosphere, but the food can be iffy - Good idea to buy the oysters, you can also buy fresh shrimp from the boat in Pt. St. Joe - and in Apalach - a few places - just ask. If you are going to Apalach, I think "The Owl" has the best food -
A nice place, with consistantly good food is Sunset Grille in Pt. St. Joe on the bay. Beautiful setting - the grouper imperial is always amazing - and the sweet potatoe casserole is super!!! It is a "nicer" place - not dressy, but not like Indian Pass!

Local seafood in Sarasota area?

A good seafood place is Phillipi Creek Oyster Bar - off US 41, south of downtown before Gulf Gate- we always have had good seafood there -

Great restaurants along Florida's Forgotten Coast

We have a beach house in Mexico Beach, so we are well aquainted with the come and go nature of the coast. If you go toward Mexico Beach - make sure you eat at Killer Seafood on 98 - the fish taco's are THE BEST - they are closed on Tuesday and only open limited hours - but everything there is great! (if you find better hush puppies, let me know!)
If you want a 4 star beautiful view, and higher prices - but great food - stop in at School of Fish - located at Windmark Village on the water, between Pt. St. Joe & MB - it is the most beautfiul setting on the coast, upstairs - and the food is great.
Tucan's is the "tourist" stop in MB, but just get drinks - the view is great upstairs, the food is usually mediocer at best..
A nice change from seafood - if you need it - is in Pt. St. Joe - Main Street - Peppers - a pretty good Mexican place - the standard - but good. ENJOY!

Upper end Restaurants with a private room in FLL

Does anyone know of a good, mid/upper end place that offers a private room for about 20 people? We've been to Jackson's but they now want a guarantee of $2,000 for the meal (excluding gratiuty)

Is there independent coffee in S Florida?

There are two Senior Coffee's in Plantation & Davie. Absolutely the very best coffee you will find. Organic, roasted on the premisis, from the owner's family coffee plantation in Columbia. I was skeptical, when I first visited, but now we are addicted. My son, who lived in Costa Rica was conveninced that he would never find coffee anywhere like CR, but after his first trip to Senior Coffee, he relented. They are off Sunrise, before Pine Island on the north side - in the shopping center (corner). The other is in the Fruit place on Griffin by the Turnpike.

Martini's and GOOD FOOD in Ft. Lauderdale??

Any suggestions? We save Friday night for Martini night, but are running out of places that have both good drinks and good food. One of our favorites has been Bonefish Grill, but since they closed the Plantation location, we hate driving all the way to Coral Springs. Any ideas in the Ft. Lauderdale area??

good seafood buffet in Miami, FTL, or PB?

I should have also suggested Sea Watch on A- 1A in Lauderdale by the Sea, north of Commercial, great food - the crowd can be a little old at certain times (like Sunday afternoons) but the food has always be great. - Aruba's too by the pier on Commercial - right on the beach - a little crowded this time of the year - but they have music every weekend and pretty good food - but the views are great!

Broward to Boca, need place for Mom's birthday this Sunday!

Try Sea Watch in Laderdale by the Sea, just north of Commercial on A-1-A - beautiful setting - and I believe they take reservations. Lots of good things on the menu.

good seafood buffet in Miami, FTL, or PB?

I agree with the Blue Moon for Sunday brunch, outstanding 7 hot dishes I believe, at least 5 seafood. However, if you are looking for another day of the week - try Catfish Dewey's in Ft. Lauderdale on Andrews. It is a OLD OLD time favorite with the locals, and it has several all you can eat items, as well as individual orders which is generally all anyone can eat. They do have combo's too - but the shrimp is outstanding, and any of the fish is amazing... one of our favorites, and a place we always take out of town guest, who are ok with less than fancy/dressy place. It is casual extreme - but darn good! We have also eaten at the Rusty Crab Shack off Griffin Road in Hollywood/FLL not all that great - and the prices are rather high. However, it is fun to pound the heck out of your own crab claws and legs!

West Broward Restaurants

One of our favorite in Plantation on the corner of Sunrise & Pine Island in Jacaranda Square is Thai-Thai - Always receives rave reviews, and the city best awards. Amazing sushi - try their hot and sour soup - the best! Everything is really fresh and very good. We eat there at least 2-3 times a month.

Any good places in Plantation, FL?

We can not find a good greek or mediterrian place in Plantation, or for that matter fresh seafood. Any suggestions around Plantation, or into Lauderdale?
