Stuffed artichokes, crab, and crepes, oh my!!
I need suggestions for a 3 day birthday feast. I'm not quite sure what I will be in the mood for, but I would like a list of places that will suit my tastebuds. It can be something simple as a food truck to a nice romantic dinner. Anywhere from SF to San Jose or near BART. I definitely want stuffed artichokes, crab and crepes. I love mexican food , pizza and hamburgers, any type of old school comfort food, as well as good authentic italian food. I'm also going to visit as many bakeries as I can for I have a huge sweet tooth. Thank you Chowhounders in advance for all of your help.

I will search for the unique magic Paul Prudhomm flavors and will definitely find the Roman Candy Man and Brocato's cookies. My list is getting longer, thanks to you all. Thanks again jmorri26

What to bring back from New Orleans
Hi Bigshadetree,
Thank you for all of your recommendations. I'm glad that you mentioned The New Orleans School of Cooking because I plan on taking a "Hands-On" class when I arrive. Have you taken any classes? The store looks beautiful and I can't wait to find all of the goodies that you have suggested. Thanks again
What to bring back from New Orleans
Hello everyone. My husband and I will be visiting your lovely city in a few weeks and will be eating at many of the restaurants that you all have suggested. I would like to bring home some of New Orleans specialty food items, such as hot sauce, seasonings, candies, etc. that I can't find in California. So far, I have access to K. Paul's seasonings, beignet mixes, and my favorite, Slap Yo Mama seasoning. I love to cook and bake so any cookbook recommendations will be appreciated. Also, I have a huge sweet tooth. Any suggestions on where to get cookies, cupcakes, and pastries? Thank you all for your help.

Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Sounds good jbird35. I just didn't want to spend a week and be bored. It sounds like 3-4 days would be perfect. Thanks again.
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
OMG! I love the sandwhich article and we are hitting all 3 places. There seems to be so many cheesesteaks to choose from. We still haven't decided which one's to try yet. Thanks kukubura for your advice.
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?

Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Thanks Urbanfabric. We will check it out. How long do you recommend staying in Philly? We mainly just want to eat and see a few historic sites.
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Thanks MandalayVA. You are the second person that recommended this hotel. My main concern is the location and the cleanliness of the room. Rick's steaks looks good. Are 2 days enough to see the historic sites or would a week be better?
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Thanks Jbird35. The first thing I will do is check the Phillies and Eagles schedule. We will definitely eat a cheesesteak because we can not fly all they way to Philly without trying an authentic philly cheesesteak. We will also hit the Reading Terminal and pretty much eat everythiing there. Hee-Hee. Especially at DiNIc's for the roast pork and provolone! Thanks for your help.
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
What a great idea. Thanks Sensuous for the tip.
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Thanks barryg. Just reading everything that you and ramenbound recommended is making me very hungry and I just had dinner! Hee-Hee! We can't wait to try out all of these places. I just heard about the Banh Mi's hoagies. It looks quite tasty. Our plan is to start our eating adventure as soon as we step out of the hotel. Which ever area that may be. We want to be in the middle of everything and then see a few historical sites and eat some more. Then venture out to South Philly and hit all the local eateries there, etc.etc. Thanks again for all of your help
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Thank you for all of your recommendations. We are thinking of traveling either the end of Oct or the first week of November. How's the weather that time of year? We have an open price range especially for good quality food. How could I forget to mention Italian. My husband loves veal marsala. oh, and I'm also looking for these italian sandwhich cookies that I had in Rome and I don't know what they are called. They were vanilla cookies with a chocolate cream filling that they sold on these street carts throughout Rome. Any ideas? Thanks again ramenbound.
Visiting Philly! Where to stay and eat?
Hello everyone! My husband and I are planning a trip to Philly next month(OCT) and need some great advice as to where to stay and if October or November will be a good month to visit. We would like a comfortable room that's affordable. Most of our money will be spent on food. We would like to see some historical sites, but our main goal is to EAT!!!
Husband's Goal: Eating multiple Philly Cheesesteaks, Hot Dogs, Sandwhiches and Steak (He's a big guy)
My Goal: DESSERTS and MEXICAN FOOD and any LOCAL FAVORITES
Thank you in advance!!

Pearl Sugar
Does anyone know where I can buy pearl sugar in the San Francisco Bay Area? They look like rock salt or the salt that comes on fresh hot baked pretzels. Thanks in advance for your help.

Steakhouses for 40th b-day
Hello Chowhounders,
I need your help in finding a great steakhouse in SF or the peninsula. It's my husband's 40th birthday and he loves steaks. We love Alfred's and we have tried Ruth's Chris and some others. We are looking for big juicy steaks like a porterhouse(for one)ha-ha. That won't break the bank. Any suggestions?
blueberry muffins
I'm searching for blueberry muffins in SF or along the peninsula. I prefer ones that don't have cinnamon. Any suggestions?
