Sudbury resturant advice needed!
I would suggest Bullfinchs Restaurant - varied menu; open for Sunday brunch as well as dinner; something for everyone there. I think the website is www.bullfinchs.com but you might have to do a google search for the right URL.
What ever happened to Trio's pasta?
Many years ago, we were suckers for Trio's tortellini (the garlic/herb mostly but we loved all of the varieties). We used to drive down to Chelsea (or was it Charlestown) and buy it there at the factory (my husband says they also used to sell it at warehouse clubs). When it was no longer available there, I would drive to Waltham (?) where it was made. But then we moved and it wasn't convenient to get there anymore. It's been years since I had pasta that good... so

Pastry quantity discounts?
Let me play devil's advocate: Does it take less time, materials, and labor to fill 24 cannoli? Do you want the shop to give you a discount because you are ordering 24 - would you want a bigger discount if you ordered 100?
I bet if you got the shop a discount on their utilities or rent or labor for that month (or even the day), they'd share that discount with you ... :)
Looking for a Merrimack Valley Caterer? - Awesome Awesome was Bianco's Catering in Tyngsboro
That was a great event ! I thought the menu came from two caterers there - Two Chefs are Better than One, as well as Bianco's. Good food was had by all!
I know Two Chefs is in Lowell and Billerica, I didn't know Bianco's was in Tyngsboro, for some reason I thought they were in Lowell too.

where to purchase cake boxes?
what size do you need? a local bakery might be able to sell you some.
Lowell area recs, off of 495?
I second the recommendation for Centro - it has a nice bar. Moonstones is right off the highway if getting lost is an issue :)
"Ace of Cakes" style cakeries in the Boston Area?
The Knot has a party planning website that you can probably check into - I don't remember the name of that site, but you could go on theknot.com and see if there's a pointer to it.
Where to buy fresh fish in Andover?
Hometown Seafoods is on Chestnut Street - just around the back from their original location which used to be on Barnard St. It's the same building as the Verizon Wireless store and a few clothing places, and across from the CVS parking lot.
I've not been disappointed there in the 15 years I've been going. The seasoned crumbs are good (if you are out of bread crumbs which is how I found out their crumbs are really good - expensive but still if you only want to make one stop), and their lobster dip is terrific.
For other fish stores in the area, there's the place next to Butcher Boy in North Andover and there's the Lobster ? Pot? Pound? in North Reading right on Rt 28 and Rt 62.

Sugar work class
Ewald Notter has a school where he teaches several sugar classes/levels; his facility is in Florida (he used to teach out of the Albert Uster Imports facilities in Maryland). He's the best there is, and while it's expensive (tuitiion and travel), it's worth it.
Otherwise you might want to ask at Truly Jorgs or Jacques European Pastries (in Suncook NH) if they will do a private class for you.
Just Moved To Andover Ma
We have two favorites: Andover Deli and Spinners. Spinners is a thin crust pizza; Andover Deli is a little thicker. Both are really good.
Spinners is by the Ballardvale train station; Andover Deli is by the horn bridge (near Phil's Roast Beef, also a good take out place, and Dinner by Dish for when you want something more upscale in terms of dinner but don't feel like cooking. Their Haddock Cakes are excellent. For Dinner by Dish you order in advance and pick up on the day you choose, but they usually always have some extra that you can stop by and see what they have.)
Sightings: Kate's Real Buttermilk at MB
I have been able to find it only occasionally at MB in Tewksbury; but when I find it, I buy 2 or 3 cartons. At least they've started printing the sell by/use by date in darker, more legible print on the caps :) It's usually there about once a month but they have Kate's butter on a regular basis. I wish I could figure out the rhyme and reason of the inventory...
Among other things, it makes a wonderful red devil's food cake (aka red velvet).
Coconut Cake
I like the recipe on epicurious.com from the Peninsula Grill. The filling is fantastic, the cake is different from the one they serve in the restaurant I'm told. I use my own favorite white cake recipe. The filling is SO good and you don't really have to wait overnight to use it.. I like the idea of a whipped cream frosting for the outside, I usually make it like an inside out german chocolate cake by torting the layers and not using a side frosting, just slathering on more of the filling for the top.
Yazmin's Cafe Madrid-Chelmsford
Yes, their empanadas are wonderful!! Hmm, now I wish it wasn't snowing or I'd make the trip out there now!
Dole & Bailey - cash and carry?
I have an account with them; and I'm fairly certain that you have to have an account to buy from them. What were you looking for?
Pellana Restaurant Peabody...
Are you having a function there? Are you ordering off the menu or doing something special? I think the food is good - as to overpriced, well considering the fast food places around there and the chains, this is better food and priced accordingly. I haven't been there in about 8 months or so....
South East Asia, Lowell: Good larb, lousy everything else.
Does anyone know what happened to the original owner? I remember going there multiple times a week when we lived closer and there were only 6 or so tables. The food was phenomenal then, and we were often the only non-immigrants because the locals knew the food was excellent. This was about 20 years ago, though.
North Shore Personal Chef for 4/11 Anniversary Party
there are a few caterers up in that area who probably have chefs that would do this; I've been to weddings where the food was from Celebrations Gourmet, Tiger Lily and Vinwood; the food was good from all of them.
Southeast Asian, Lowell Ma. - Yummm, Still awesome.
Where did Joe go?
We haven't been to Southeast Asian in many many years, but while we lived in the area, we were there regularly three times a week or so; we spent some memorable New Year's Eve holidays celebrating there with Joe and the family but once we moved, we lost touch.
Anyone know what happened?
Pizza in North Andover/Andover
Try Andover Deli and Pizzeria - it's not thin crust, but not thick (like Sal's). We usually alternate between Andover Deli and Depot (the child loves Depot Pizza, the adults like Andover Deli)....
L'Andana's, Burlington, MA
Went for dinner tonight; had the haddock which was very nice. Was there for a private dinner with a fixed menu; the passed hors d'oeuvres were excellent (veal meatball, crabcakes, tuna tartare). The chicken was excellent, just perfectly moist; the haddock was well cooked (the risotto was a little underdone) and the filet also excellent. The blueberry buckle (it looked more like a galette) was ok, maybe a little soggy on the bottom crust but still good; the ice cream that accompanied it was very nice. I would go back in heartbeat. (In fact, we all spontaneously gave the chef a round of applause when we saw him go by.) If I weren't so overstuffed, I'd go back now :)
I liked that the private dining room was truly private; the perfect place for a party whether it's social or corporate. I didn't feel as if I were tucked away behind the restaurant diners, but in my own private restaurant. Beautiful decor; great service.
Kitchenaid Mixer repair?
I've got a dead KA 6 qt mixer; any recommendations on where to take it for repairs? North of Boston preferred.
It has been a reliable workhorse for years until I made a batch of marshmallows. It worked fine a few times making buttercream after the marshmallows, but now doesn't turn on or even make a squeek.
Looking for rhubarb
I saw (and bought) some rhubarb at the Market Basket in Salem NH yesterday; so the other branches may have it as well. It was $1.89/#
READING MARKET BASKET
The Market Basket in Tewksbury is pretty good - large selection, clean store - better than the one in Andover, which unfortunately is not able to remodel due to leasing issues.
New Gourmet shop in Andover, MA
Thanks! I'd heard it was under new ownership at some point after the holidays and wanted to try it but never made the time. I've driven by and it was closed so I wondered what was going on. I'd never actually eaten there but now I know what I didn't miss! :)
Please post one NEW chowish find
When I worked in Lexington and Burlington, I would go to Via Lago as often as I could get out for lunch. The Spicy Beef Salad was one of my favorites. Our company used them for catering and everything was always consistently good, so I second this recommendation.
Fancy Cake Recipe
I don't have that book but I'd love to make the passion fruit bavarian....
