Matouk's

Wrapping up this topic....I called up Grassia's in the Italian Market...they held a bottle for me . Great experience. Very nice store, good people. Wasn't even busy during the holiday.

Matouk's

Where can I find Matouk's Flambeau Hot Sauce in Philly? The now-closed WMD Hot Sauce sold me a bottle..and I was sold..Probably the best pure hot sauce I've ever tried.

pastina hunt

I'm looking on behalf of someone else. I'm not aware that it's that common. I have seen orzo but not pastina, unless i'm not looking the right places. I just moved to Philly from NYC so I'm not sure what's here.

pastina hunt

Where in Philly can I find pastina pasta?

Green Mountain Gringo salsa

Would love to order direct from the company but more interested in buying it somewhere local. Waldbaums and Pathmark no longer seem to carry it. Anyone know where it can be found in NYC, partiularly Brooklyn?

salsa pizza?

Yes

salsa pizza?

Does it exist in Manhattan, or the city proper?

Mexicali Live (Teaneck) recommendation?

Anyone been to this restaurant/music venue? What's the best from their dinner menu?

jalapeno/chipotle brownies?

I did a bit more digging and I believe the place I had been to is Snack Dragon at 199 East 3rd and Avenue B. I'm headed there tonight.

jalapeno/chipotle brownies?

I vaguely recall being at a small take-out shop, somewhere close to East Houston Street, that has decidedly South American fare, mainly healthy goods, and these amazing brownies, plus Mexican hot chocolate. What I want to go back for are the brownies. I just don't recall if they were jalapeno or chipotle and where the shop actually is. Anyone know?

Katz's: beyond the pastrami

Left early before reading all the replies. Thanks for these, all. I ended up ordering 2 knockwurst, fries, sour pickles, along with Dr. Brown's black cherry soda. Only issue was that the counterman didn't mark the back of the ticket but they did get that resolved.

Katz's: beyond the pastrami

Need a refresher course.....Doing a late lunch there today. What to recommend besides pastrami? How is the chili?
And what is the ticket system there?

seeking Brooklyn/Bronx Dominican..curious

My gf is very particular about Italian food..we've done a series of adventures with different cuisines (Polish, Italian, Mediterranean, American), mostly in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I proposed a field trip to the Bronx, which for us is virgin territory. I had the idea we should try a Dominican place, but I don't wanna scare her off. Can anyone suggest a place in the Bronx primarily (Brooklyn secondary) that can ease a newbie into Dominican cuisine?

Any glogg or mulled wine about?

Albeit much too late in the season to even consider it, this new poster actually forgot to toast the holidays with mulled wine or even glogg. I'm a 4th generation Swedish-American, and I actually regret never having tried glogg before. But there's something about mulled wine...
I've had mulled wine maybe half-dozen times.....and the last time, it was at a cafe on the Bowery in that borough in the middle of the city. But....since we're on the different board, I wondered out loud about where I could find either glogg or mulled wine in the other 4 boroughs. My preference is Brooklyn (I dwell in Sheepshead Bay), Queens 2nd, Bronx 3rd.

Hot sauce - What do you have in the house

Just graduated from Tobasco myself. I had a late night meal at Zippiz on Park Ave. here in NYC, and discovered El Yucateco green. My goodness, the heat was nothing that I ever experienced before. I'm craving a bottle of that stuff; where can I find it in NYC?
Also, in my search for it, at the local Waldbaums, I came across Jamaican Choice brand 'XXX Hell Hot Pepper" concentrate hot sauce. Plenty hot for my taste. My sense is that anything with sodium content at 4% + per serving is hot enough (this one is 4.25, and I think El Yucateco is 5). Thoughts?
