Maison Laduree has finally opened!

I didn't like the rose petal as it reminded me of eating lipstick. It's very floral. The orange blossom tasted strange. I liked the raspberry and coffee. The pistachio tasted a little artificial and like almond extract.

Maison Laduree has finally opened!

I tried 12 different flavors, way too sweet and too soft, not chewy enough... They were a little lumpy and the heights were all different. The salted caramel didn't taste like there was any salt in there at all. I've only had Laduree in London and it was way better there... I'm disappointed :(

Baogette Maiden Lane

those are terrible hours, I can never go either since I live and don't work in the neighborhood. there are so many of us who live down here, they should extend their hours :(

Any decent japanese noodly places in the vicinity of Flatiron/Union square?

The 12th St location is another Setagaya, I've tried that one and didn't like it much. I walk to Ippudo for lunch during the week sometimes and there's usually no wait. Sobaya on 9th is also good during lunch time, no wait.

Le Fooding?

My friend went last night too and said it was really hectic really long lines, blah blah... anyway, don't wear nice shoes since they will be covered in mud. I saw my friends shoes afterwards and they were all brown from the mud. She didn't wear heels either.

Need Minetta Tavern recommendations

My friend made a 10:30 reservation for 6 on a Friday night and we had to wait an hour for the table, and they squeezed 6 into a 4 person table at 11:30. Be prepared to wait!

Tribeca - eating alone/food delivery

For Japanese, there's also Sushi Azabu, Matsugen and Takahatchi in Tribeca. There's a lot of restaurant's on West Broadway, very close to your hotel. There's also Hoi An and Viet Cafe for Vietnamese. Try seamlesweb.com for delivery. You can also try Bouley Market and get food to go, they also have pastries there.

Date in Financial District or Close by

Mercat's on Bond street, you can take the R to Prince and walk, between 5-10 minutes.

Date in Financial District or Close by

It's just ok. Food is cooked well but nothing special. How about going to Mercat and getting tapas?

Date in Financial District or Close by

Ok so about a 20 minute walk depending on where you go, or take the 1/9 up to Chambers or Franklin st.

Date in Financial District or Close by

Yes, where are you walking from in the Fidi? If I go to Tribeca I walk unless it's raining and it's about a 20 minute walk b/c I have to navigate around the WTC.

Date in Financial District or Close by

Oh yeah Landmarc would be good. I go there for brunch, never been there for dinner but the space is pretty big. I thought Fresh was closed. Never been to Gigino or Ecco. I think Macao Trading Co is pretty sceney, especially on a Friday night, not sure if you're into that sort of thing, just recommended it b/c its closer to the N/R. I've only been for brunch and it was pretty good but they serve Chinese and Portuguese food.

Saturday brunch with Mom suggestions needed

And expensive, just like Barney's :)

Lunch around the Union Square area

For a foodie client, yes. They have lunch specials, ramen + small rice dish for like $15. Their menu is on menupages.com. Last time I went to lunch around 1pm and there was no wait.

Date in Financial District or Close by

Yeah Tribeca would be a good idea. Pretty short walk. I live in Fidi and if I want to go somewhere nicer to eat, I would walk to Tribeca. You can try Macao Trading Co or Matsugen (they have a pre fixe), they're closer to the N/R stop on canal. B-flat is also close to there if you want to get a drink after. There is Bouley upstairs, Odeon, Blau Gans and Takahatchi by West Broadway, not as close to the N/R but close to Chamber's st 1/9/2/3. I also like Hoi An, vietnamese, on West Broadway.

Lunch around the Union Square area

Ippudo for Ramen. 15 East for Japanese, though I've never been for lunch. Gotham Bar & Grill has a lunch pre fixe. Stand for burgers.

Big Apple BBQ- Fastpasses...are they worth it?

Yes, I shared it with my bf and another friend. The fast pass lines were much shorter and I think you can use it on both days too.

Water/John Street Banh Mi Cart?

My friend told me this week they were parked in front of her apt building at 10 Hanover street but they're not there everyday.

Londoners Seeking Top Restaurants in New York in June

I think their chocolate desserts are good but last time I got the donuts and some panna cotta and both were very mediocre. I actually had one bite of the donut and threw it out.

Sunday All you can Drink Mimosas and Bloody Marys

Double Crown has a all you can drink customize your own bloody mary bar on Sundays which includes an entree for around $32, not too crowded.

Ippudo

yep, and they have okonomiyaki too and shaved ice in the summer.

Pan asian union square area?

I think you're thinking of Cafe Spice which is Indian. Spice is on 13th & University and is Thai.

NYC Trip Chowtinerary - Summer

If you want to walk through Central Park on Saturday after the Met, you can walk to the Time Warner Center and have lunch at Bouchon Bakery. There's also a Wholefoods there, so you can pick up picnic goods from there too.

48TH near 5TH

I love Katsuhama in that area for lunch

Izakaya Riki is also good, i like their Uni gratin dish.

Girls Weekend: Where to take 8 mid-20s wanna-be-foodies?

You can get the Bo Ssam at Ssam bar and that allows you to make a reservation ahead of time. That's good to share between 8-10 people. Also, you can go to Mercat in Soho for Tapas, you can make a reservation there as well. After that, walk over to the dessert truck for dessert.

3 Week Chowfest; Help!!!

Alex Stupak use to be the pastry chef at Alinea before he moved over to WD-50 so I'd be interested in hearing your comparison as well.

Upstairs at Bouley - what to order?

I like the burger and had this pasta dish with sardines that was really tasty. The fish dishes are pretty good, very simple. I only tried Uni nigiri there, the rice was really mushy and the uni was way too briny, it's not worth it for the price.

Upstairs at Bouley - what to order?

Not the sushi!

Early dinner around downtown..

There is a Korean restaurant, Seh Ja Meh, on Greenwich right by the Marriot. Some options in Tribeca that maybe under $50 per person are Macao Trading Co (Chinese & Portuguese, not Chinatown Chinese), Hoi An for Vietnamese, Petit Abeille, Upstairs at Bouley. The only ethnic I like down in Fidi is Alfanoose but there's no ambiance there.

Corton, Shang or someplace else?

I had the tasting at Corton and did not think the portions were small, after having numerous courses, I would be overly stuffed if everything was normal a la carte sized. I saw other tables that ordered a la carte and their portions sizes were normal. Didn't experience any issues with service either, they were very accommodating to my bf and I and my need to take pictures of everything.
