I'm looking for a Davis Square restaurant for lunch on Saturday. Don't want to be rushed, must be comfortable and good for conversation. Bars fine too. Ideas?
One less breakfast place in Manchester, NH
Republic has a wonderful brunch. Jillian's Corner Kitchen and Bridge Cafe does too. Sad to see Jewell go.
Eden, Manchester NH
Dinner and drink at the Eden in its new spot on Brown Ave., Manchester (moved from Amherst after 4+years). Had always heard wonderful things about it, so was eager to try it.
The service was below average. The bar was tight; it would not have been comfortable to eat there, and it was dirty.
The décor needs some sprucing up. This press board plywood painted black is the cornices. The table cloth was very wrinkled. There was a lack of attention to details.
Ok the food. There was nothing that interested me. Nothing. So I ordered the Lebanese platter ($13) and got a scoop of what seemed like store bought hummus, store bought tabouleh and 3 grape leaves and pita. Total disappointment.
My friends shared the crab tater tots ($8) and the grilled cheese stuffed with braised short ribs, tomatoes and Meunster cheese served on Texas toast with sweet potato fries ($11). The tater tots were bland and the grilled cheese was like hangover food.
Overall, I would love to see them succeed in this spot, but I think there needs to be some major attention to detail in all areas.

NH Restaurants (North Conway, Portsmouth and Manchester)
In Manchester: Mexican El Rincon Zacatecano (corner of Lake and Elm St., ), Z food & drink (Elm St.), Red Arrow Diner (Lowell St.), Strange Brew (behind city hall) for a huge beer selection, fantastic chicken chili and fun. Oh, and Queen City Cupcakes (Elm St.). Enjoy!

Looking for a good seafood market in Manchester, NH- tuna/ or swordfish preferably
There's a fish market on Second St., Manchester, that is getting good reviews. The fish monger at the Massabesic traffic circle on the Manchester/Auburn line is also very good. He parks at Sandy's and has an excellent rating from the Board of Health. I have not stopped there lately, though.
Manchester, NH - Caterer Recs for small in-home dinner event?
I recommend Tom, chef and owner of Z food & drink. I know he has done all types of catering, including the more intimate dinner party. For New Years Eve he catered an event for an associate that was out of this world—they felt he listened and delivered to their specifications. Z has a catering menu, but I’m sure Tom is very flexible and creative when it comes to an event. Lately he has catered several of the Manchester Chamber events and now has the contract for the Winter Garden café at the Currier Museum. Also, if you don’t know Tom, he is truly a nice guy- someone you’d want to have wine with.
hosting cookout high school wrestling team- what to serve?
We are hosting the high school wrestling team for a cookout in April. We live in NH, so the weather will still be cool.
