Best Brunch In Forever at St. Austere Brooklyn!
I just went here with my husband. Fantastic Egg Sandwich and homefries and the best Shrimp and Grits I have ever had. Real, chill place and space, minimal pretense with good wine list and actual chefs working in the kitchen. Looking forward to going there dinner sometime soon. Surprised there arent more accolades of this Williamsburg gem.

Warung Kario dinner and Liberty Ave. Guyanese query
I think Sybils and Sandy's Roti Shop (tasty $1 Doubles...fried chickpea bread with curried chick peas) are the best of the lot. Both have a great scene expecially on the weekends. I have not tried Anils.

Long Island City - The Best Things to Eat
I just spent an awesome maternity leave in LIC and ate many a breakfast/lunch/snacks in the hood while walking with my baby. Here are my favorites:
Crankys (Stroller and visiting family friendly/Flank Steak Salad and Cupcakes)
Sweetleaf (Stroller friendly too but their Soy Latte/Iced Coffee, Carrot Cake, Donut Holes, really any of their baked goods esp if made that day-homemade poptarts, ginger cookie, gluten free brownie)
Little Ovens (Gateau d' Alice, Chocolate Cakes, Guava Macaron, Macha Macaron, Vanilla Mille Feuile)
Malu (Peanut Butter and Chocolate homeade ice cream from the nicest couple ever!)
LIC Market (Slow Cooked Pork, Shredded Brisket at Lunch Soft Cooked Egg with Gruyere and Scallions on a mini baguette, Bread Basket at Brunch)
Sage (Ranchero Burrito on the softest tortilla ever)
Tournesol (Early dinner with appetizer specials and good wine outside with sleeping baby in arms never failed)
Breadbox (Egg and Cheese on a Sesame Bagel)
Maducatis Rustica (Biscotti and Conette with Apricot Jam (little croissaints,)
Testaccio (Spinach Salad and grilled Lamb Chops)
Madera Cuban (Lechon Asado)
Communitea (Tuna Melt)
M Wells (I know it's gone for now but shoutout to the BeefLamb Burger and Maple Pie)
Thanks LIC.

Beware: DOH "Grade Pending" means Bad Grade!!
I just found out that restaurants are required to post their ratings. But more importantly and as I suspected when the restaurant posts signs that say "ratings pending" it usually means that they had a bad rating and are buying time until they get a better one.
M. Wells Dinner
I live nearby. Place was a treasure when it first opened, we went frequently for breakfast, and they are still gracious when I go in and recognized as a local. But there has been some recent bad waiters/waitresses with inappropriate attitudes. One new waiter told my mom in a very snotty attitude that she cannot have most things on the menu if she did not like undercooked eggs. And dinner ranges from fantastic to really mediocre.
Good Restaurant for small wedding dinner
Corton is lovely and accomodating. Similar cuisine as 11 Madison Park but I think more intimate. Worth a try. Also Falai.

Paulie Gee's - New pizza in Greenpoint
I love Paulie Gees more than any pizza anywhere but the pizza is a little bit off when he is not there. Maybe that's what the inconsistency some have noted is about.

fatty cue vs fette sau
Different bbq concepts altogether. Fette Sau any day for me though. I too love love love their brisket and I'm not even a general fan of brisket. Sides again not so great ...but the beans and the potato dish are fine.

Soft Thai Coconut Pancakes-Where?
I had these at the farmer's market in San Diego and I know they are a popular street food in Thailand. Has anyone seen them in NYC?

Good food--bad attitude [Tournesol]

Miranda in Williamsburg is Incredible!
I just searched to see if there are any chowhound reviews of Miranda. Surprisingly no. Italian with Spanish/Mexican influences is unusual but this place is a comfortable, spacious, chef-owned restaurant on tree lined Berry Street with a relaxed staff and fantastic food. I went for the first time tonight and shared the octopus salad with arugula and avocado, chorizo aranchini, duck breast with polenta and homemade pappardelle with mole braised lamb. Each one was a delight. I can't gush enough.
Ecuadorian in Elmhurst/Jackson Heights?
Anthony Bourdain did a recent bit on Ecuadorian cuisine and I'm newly inspired. I haven't been too pleased with the trucks. Does anyone have a good/the best Ecuadorian restaurant recommendations in Elmhurst/Jackson Heights?
Paulie Gee's - New pizza in Greenpoint
You need to try it again. Went tonight and had the delboy? pie with the sopressata and shared a pear walnut salad. This pie was phenomenal, light charred airy delicious crust (tore easily inbetween), slightly sweet sauce... flor di latte cheese in just the right amounts. The salad was a nice accompaniment. As a former una pizza neopolitana fan who was missing it tremendously, I have definitely found a worthy replacement. Great space too and Mr. Paulie G. greeted us nobodies personally to see how we liked it.
Has anyone tried the revamped Tabla?
Had prix fixe the other day - shared vegetarian and meat option - plently of food, tantastic flavors that reminded me of the orginal bread bar, pristine service and good wines all at a not obscene price. Obviously recommend it.
Best Weekday Breakfast UES/EAST HARLEM??
Table d Hote is fantastic but opens at 12. Sarabeths is all hype but is open earlier. Also Cafe d' Alsace and this great greek diner on the corner of 86th and 2nd ave on south east side of street.
Northern Spy Food Co.
Wow, this place does not miss a beat-sustainable never tasted so good. One of the most enjoyable dinners ever! We had the Kale salad, the pork trotter dish and the pork meatballs followed by the bosc frangiapane tart. But Northern Spy also a friendly and thoughtful place with a good vibe, tasty beer, even bought some groceries to take home.
Rabbithole in Williamsburg Brooklyn?
I want to like this restaurant. I love their location, the decor. They have good beer and salad but I am very disappointed with the entrees. Has anyone had really good food there? Should I keep on trying?

Anything in Long Island City, (restaurant), worth the drive??
My family used to drive from Richmond Hill to this place for Birthdays etc long ago. Still great. Might be worth a drive for charm, authenticity alone.
The Car Bomb will change your life
Your review is spot on. Went there on a weekday. Love the staff. Adore the food... the sardine sandwich on foccacia, the hummus on naan, the salty caramel ice cream sandwich on dark chocolate cookies. Wish Cheeks was still around but I'm so happy it was replaced by this and not another asian fusion place.
Any Coffee Lovers Out There in Queens?
Ditto to Sweetleaf. It's even better than the other places serving Stumptown coffee.
