The Spa is a classic. You will get locals and a good breakfast. Very local scene at Handy Lunch on Thames St., too.

Headed to St. Kitts

We have never had a car. Taxis have always been available. In fact, a tour with a local driver is a great treat. Many have vans - air conditioning is a plus.

Headed to St. Kitts

Rawlins Plantation, an old sugarcane plantation, is now a lovely inn. We have not had dinner there, but they serve an extraordinary lunch buffet with local specialties.

Quail on the Connecticut shore

The Star Fish Market in Guilford sometimes sells them frozen.

One Lunch in St. Maarten

Lee's Roadside Grill in Simpson Bay on the Dutch side. Wood grilled lobster, rice and beans, whole fish, hamburgers...On the water inside the bridge - great place.

Child friendly in CT right off 95

I agree with Pat's Kountry Kitchen, immediately off 95N at exit 67. Or the Coffee Break, exit 63, in Clinton. It is NOTHING but child friendly, will be decorated for Christmas already, breakfast all day...but closes at 2:30 on weekdays and 2 on Sundays. One mile off the highway.

Special birthday in Vineyard Haven this Saturday!

Could I have possibly waited longer? Staying at Mansion House, would love not to drive. Thank you for your help.

wedding venues

Check the Viking Hotel in Newport. Nice spaces, including a rooftop venue with beautiful views over the rooftops of Newport, as well as the bridge and the Bay. It is right smack in the heart of Newport. Your family and guests can walk all over town. No driving, on site parking - a lovely spot.

1st Wedding Anniversary in Martha's Vineyard

Le Grenier is a stone's throw from Mansion House. You can walk there in five minutes. It's a favorite or ours. It's also BYOB. While not on the water, it's on the second floor tucked in among branches like a lovely tree house. Vineyard Haven Harbor is just down the hill. Happy Anniversary!

Dessert in New Haven near Woolsey Hall?

Ibiza stays open until 11 p.m. on Saturday and their desserts are lovely. They are at 39 Park St., and a nice walk from Woolsey Hall. Claire's is great, too, but closes at 10 p.m.

What is the name of that Newport restaurant...

And just beside Queen Anne Square.

What is the name of that Newport restaurant...

Actually, I don't either, but still trying. What is a block or so up from the harbor? I can think East and West but not up the hill.

What is the name of that Newport restaurant...

The Red Parrot? Right across from a fudge place. But do they have music?

Knife Sharpening?

I have heard Page Hardware in Guilford sharpens knives.
