MSP - Daytime bar stops?

Thanks, Anne! By unique, I guess I'm looking for things that are totally un-"suburban". Since most of my guests live in the suburbs and don't frequent Minneapolis or St Paul very often I'd like to avoid chain restaurants or sports bars. Especially for the bar stops after the tour.

I love the suggestion for Big Daddy's for lunch, but we are getting Q Fanatic (www.qfanatic.com) catered in later that night. I'll take a look at the others.

Thanks again, Anne! Very helpful!

MSP - Daytime bar stops?

In a few weeks, a group of us (25-30) will be taking a party bus to Summit Brewery in St Paul for an afternoon tour. We will have the party bus for a few hours before and several hours afterward.

This is for my husband's 30th bday, and there will be a mix of people on the bus (family, friends, older, "younger", etc).

I'm looking for suggestions on a place or two to stop either before the tour for a quick lunch or unique places to stop for a drink afterward. We are coming from the Northern Mpls suburbs, and am not familer with St Paul at all.

Any suggestions welcome! Where are good places to stop?

Thanks!

MSP: Sat Morning Brunch Buffet?

I'm looking for a Sat Morning Breakfast/Brunch Buffet in the Minneapolis area. Suburbs are fine. There would be 13 people, so a place that can accommodate a larger group is necessary.

Suggestions?
Thanks!

MSP - Signature Cafe on V-Day

Thanks guys! To be safe, I decided to switch to the Meritage in St Paul where I'm confident that my husband can get a steak. We'll be checking out Signature a different night, though!

MSP - Signature Cafe on V-Day

Hello - I've already made reservations for Signature Cafe on Valentines Day, mostly based off the good reviews/comments from Chowhounders.

However, I'm wondering if anyone has any insight regarding what I should expect in terms of menu. I just noticed on their website they advertise for V-day:

"An Evening in Provence"
FOUR COURSES, $40

The price is fine...but any thoughts on what to expect in terms of food? Do you think we'd be able to order off the normal menu - which is what drew me to it in the first place? The option for Spare Ribs or Pot Roast for my husband made me comfortable checking it out for the first time. Should I be concerned that their "Evening in Provence" menu will be full of fish, scallops and duck (items my hubby won't enjoy)?

Obviously I can always call and ask - but thought I'd see if anyone had thoughts first.

Thanks!

MSP-- restaurants around Crystal

Yes, I'd recommend El Loro for Mexican! This is a fun place for a group and the food is great.

For good Vietnamese (I think it is Vietnamese…) check out a little family run place on Bass Lake Road, East of Cty Rd 81 – right by the VFW. I can’t remember the name, but the food was great. It’s quiet, but big enough for a group.

Otherwise, most of the restaurants (other than the Crystal Bistro, which I haven't been too) are pretty much the same: predicable sports bars. Not that they aren’t good, but I don’t think they’d ‘wow’ anyone: Buffalo Wild Wings, The Fieldhouse Tavern and Big Louie's. However, if you want something really casual where everyone can find something they’d order – you’d be ‘safe’ there.

Let us know what you check out!
