Is there good Chinese food in London.
there is:
http://www.kaimayfair.com/kaihome.html
1 Michelin star rated too.
Berlin: Fischers Fritz lunch
Cannot think of any place in Berlin with a formal dresscode.
(except those where you are beaten, if you wear a tie)
Good and Inexpensive Restaurants in Munich?
For a nice Munich-experiende, weather permitting, try one of the big beergardens. (Chinesischer Turm, Hofbräukeller, Augustiner, Seehaus)
Alternatives for rain are Weisses Bräuhaus, Nürnberger Bratwurstglöckl or Andechser, all around the Dome.
El Gordo Loco - MUNICH
Have been there - it is a small nonspectacular place. Maybe the food is excellent - did neither eat or drink- but nothing that would attract me to go. I definitely would prefer Juleps and around.
El Gordo Loco - MUNICH
Never been there and never heard anything about it that drew my attention. Famous are two places next to it: Nage und Sauge and Mariannenhof which just changed ownership and seems to have much improved.
If I go Mexican, I usually go to Juleps http://www.joepenas.com/ (not JoePenas!). In addition there are a lot of alternatives right next door and across the street.

Seems you get a second chance.
Which Are Some of the Greatest German Cuisine Restaurants in Germany?
There are to types of local wines: Trollinger and Schiller. Both on the light-red side. They are not well known outside Wuerttemberg, because it is so good, that most of the pruduction is consumed locally and there is nothing left, to export to the rest of Germany or even abroad.
Which Are Some of the Greatest German Cuisine Restaurants in Germany?
Swabians go there only for Geschmelzte Maultaschen,
saure Kutteln, Kalbskopf gebacken, Zwiebel- and Rahmrostbraten and some glasses of Schiller. What you mentioned is just for the tourists and of lesser quality anyway, therefore Swabians go directly to the respecive country.
Which Are Some of the Greatest German Cuisine Restaurants in Germany?
For Stuttgart:
www.ochsen-kernen.de – typical regional fare at it’s best. 10 km from Stuttgart, easy to reach by S-Bahn.
salzburg bakeries and more???
There are other recommendations, for example from Michelin and the like.
My very personal musts are: Café Tomaselli for coffee and cake sometimes aperitif. (dating back to 1705, http://www.tomaselli.at/ ), Carpe Diem to see and be seen http://www.finestfingerfood.com/ and Goldener Hirsch especially for Salzburger Nockerl (to order at the beginning of the meal), one of the local specialities - http://www.goldenerhirsch.com/ . For exceptional food, but they have only few tables, so reservation is a must: Hangar7 at the airport http://www.hangar-7.com/#en/homepage/ .
London and around
Short report from places we (myself with 12 year old son) visited last week and definitely would go back to each of them:
Brighton: Due South, www.duesouth.co.uk, great seafood, pleasant location. Make sure, you sit in the shadow.
Salisbury: Anokaa, great Indian lunch buffet www.anokaa.com
Bath: www.theholeinthewall.co.uk - unexpected find
London:
E&O: www.rickerrestaurants.com/eando/index.php international crowd and food
Rules: www.rules.co.uk oldest restaurant in town, great history and classic food
Ivy: www.the-ivy.co.uk see and be seen – nevertheless great food
Simpsons: http://www.simpsonstavern.co.uk/ (lunch only) a landmark place, charcoal grill, carnivore spot
Kai: www.kaimayfair.com – exceptional Chinese
Although for most of them reservations was “essential”, we got into all without.
We would not go back to Gordon Ramsey at Heathrow terminal 5, although excellent for planespotting. Probably Wagamama next door offers the same view …
The Best Italian in Munich?
1. Munich is considered to be the northernmost Italian city.
2. Unfortunately that location (Seitz) had about 10 different owners over the last 5 years. So the chances that it is still around tomorrow are not very good. And it is not a question of quality, service or price - it just seems to be a doomed location. (Notwithstanding the fact, that there are just 1 block away several places that made it over more than five years).
comfort food in Berlin
Maybe http://www.zillemarkt.de/eng/indexe.php is what you are looking for.
If you dont like that one, there are within a 200 m radius dozens of todays places.
The Best Italian in Munich?
In fact Munich is considered the northernmost Italian city.
Michelin is for my taste relatively accurate, so I will give you their 2009 ratings first:
Acquarello 1 star, two forks have–in my personal order- Galleria, Casale, Hippocampus, Mediteraneo, Il Borgo, Albarone, Al Pino,
Last visit to Acuarello was definitely disappointing and I decided, not to go back. But they seem to have redone the entire place, and if they exchanged the staff as well, it may be worth a try.
You can´t do any wrong with all of the two fork places and the above will widely be regarded as “the best”, but nevertheless I would like to give you my personal list of places I consider worth a visit for an “Italian experience”:
Nobili Fulcis, Rosenkavalierplatz, http://www.hosterianobilifulcis.com/
Da Fausto, Schönstraße, http://www.da-fausto.de/
Osteria, Schellingstraße, http://www.osteria.de/
Cilento, Tengstraße, http://www.cilento-italiana.de/
Anema e Cuore, Lohengrinstraße, http://www.anema-e-core.de/
la Cucina, Neherstraße, http://www.lacucina-trattoria.eu/impressum_en.htm
La Stanza http://www.la-stanza.de/
dal Cavaliere, http://www.qype.com/place/7790-Dal-Cavaliere-Muenchen
And last but not least Caruso with its affordable seafood specialities: http://ristorante-caruso.de/Ristorante_Caruso/Home.html
And for Pizza:
Angolo della Pizza (best pizza) , http://www.langolo-della-pizza.de/
Hugos (best party) http://www.hugos-pizza.de/
Each place has its special character and depending from the situation you can have an enjoyable .
To be complete Michelins 1 fork restaurants: Vinaiolo, Acetaia, Grazia.
I only would consider Vinaiolo worth a visit.
I could use a really good meal in Berlin
As of Oct. 2008:
Ma - excellent with respect to everything - www.ma-restaurant.de (*, 2009 guide)
Fischers Fritz - Berlin´s only 2 star (2008 and 2009 guide) - www.fischersfritzberlin.com
Hugos on top of Interconti (*) - disappointing (in relation to MA and FF)
Avoid Borchard: popular scene (politicians and other irrelevant personalities, absolutely arrogant service, 75% eat Wienerschnitzel, good but you risk to smell fatty)
Fancy areas with myriads of restaurants you just should walk and space yourself: Kollwitzplatz, Oranienburgberstraße, Savignyplatz.
Munich w/ Calories To Invest...
www.dallmayr.de - just earned its 2nd Michelin star. 50 m from Marienplatz. Have not been.
Alternative: Königshof, 1 star: www.geisel-privathotels.de
I would avoid Schuhbeck and Ederer.
Munich and Brussels on a College Student's Budget
Depending from what and how much you are drinking 15€ could/should suffice for Weisses Bräuhaus.
Two other popular low price spots: Voila and Ruffini:

http://www.ruffini.de/
NYC Hound coming to Brussels & Munich for the 1st time! Please comment on our ideas!
If it is your first trip to Munich and you have only 3 days I think it is not worth while to take the at least one hour trip - more with public transportation, that most likely brings you only to tourist traps.
To get some countryside feeling and weather permitting visit the beergardens at Chinesischer Turm and Seehaus in the English Garden or the park of Nymphenburg castle with nearby Brückenwirt, a typical small local beer restaurant.
NYC Hound coming to Brussels & Munich for the 1st time! Please comment on our ideas!
glbtrtr, it is tram 25 that goes to Grünwald, 15 goes halfway (GrosshesseloherBrücke) and 19 goes right along Maximilianstraße and across the river.
Good reputation for very (if not most) cultivated beer-selling has Nürnberger Bratwurstglöckl, right by the Dome (twin towers). They are one of the very few places selling beer out of a 100 liter wood barrel and sport an open fire grill, famous for sausages, among others.
And 20 metres from Glöckl another popular and lively beer place: Andechser am Dom.
Munich: Good Food, Good Prices?
Sunday, afternoon (weather permitting): walk Englischer Garten,. Seehaus and/or Chinesischer Turm
Sunday dinner: Weisses Bräuhaus (sidestep to Hofbräuhaus)
Monday, breakfast: Cafe Münchner Freiheit
Monday, lunch: walk on and around Viktualienmarkt -
(After all, 24 hours make one day, not two ...)

No idea about their quality!
Regensburg...
No need to go to Indians - just walk around, walk into the places and have a look. There should be plenty of interesting restaurants / beerhalls / winestuben and the like. Just nothing "stared" or foodwise "exceptional". But most likely historic or medevial, and at a nice place it is not necessarily the food that counts!
If you are ready to discover on your own you certainly will be satisfied!
Regensburg...
Just got the new Michelin Red Guide.
3 Listings for Regensburg: www.Rosenpalais.de,(2 1/2 forks), David at www.hotel-bischofshof.de and www.silbernegans.de, each 2 forks.
That is it.
Enjoy.
Munich downhill alert - - and a new fav
Due to change of personal habits I have not been to Weisses Bräuhaus for several years. Meanwhile the patrons changed several times – first getting AAA credits, then going downhill until the next appeared regaining AAA ratings.
But as this local is the flagship of SchneiderBrewery there is always a good chance to get “the perfect Bavarian meal”.
And at least the genius loci (vulgo: famous place, typical crowd, interesting menu) is worth the visit - risk included, experience guaranteed.
One day in Munich
Second Weisses Bräuhaus.
It can be touristy, but it is a classic and after all, most of downtown Munich is touristy. The address -though it is a "street" is only "Tal".
http://www.weisses-brauhaus.de/
For your second meal just walk the streets around and trust your eyes.
Visiting Vienna
It seems to have a very bad reputation among locals because it has never even been mentioned on this board – but I enjoyed Do&Co and certainly would go back.
Munich, Barrroom
Have to hint Barroom: www.barroom-muenchen.de .
Probably Munich’s smallest bar, but you get some of the best cocktails in town. Emanuele is specializing in rum, but definitely offers the complete bar-repertoire. The fact that he has no kitchen is turned into a unique advantage: he offers the complete menu of a nearby Italian, a Sushi and a Chinese/Thai restaurant. Take advantage of the fact, that it is still a hidden secret.
