Where should I buy wine online?
Agreed on WTSO.....they shipped be a case of the wrong wine and when I notified them of the error they sent me the correct wine OVERNIGHT and told me to keep the other wine at no charge!!!

First time to Philly.....help!
Thanks Faye, I know I am going to drop big coin at Vetri, that is why I was looking for something a little less for the second night. We booked at Barbuzzo for the next night.
Any other "foodie" things ( stores, wine stores) we should do while we are in town??
First time to Philly.....help!
is it true that Vetri is a smoke friendly restaurant?? Is smoking still alloed in Philly restaurants?
First time to Philly.....help!
Thanks George......BYOB is not an issue, I am just looking for an easy going fun atmosphere with great food, an eclectic fun wine list and under $200 all in for 2 people.
Thanks for the feedback!
First time to Philly.....help!
CW....thanks for the info. We are coming in via train from Stamford CT. (about 45 mi north of Manhattan) The wife and I are doing the Van Gough exhibit and I wanted to do a big night of dining and a more casual night but with great food.
I am in the restaurant business and my wife eats a bit on the healthy side so any place with a few fish options would be great!
Is Vetri "stuffy"?? Do I need a jacket? I did happen do get a resssie and I have heard great things about the food...does it deliver the goods?
First time to Philly.....help!
I am in town for 2 nights. Shoul I try and snag a ressie at Vetri?? If that is my "upscale night" where should I go for great food in a more relaxed atmosphere?
I read about a place called Matyson.........any comments?
Between Orlando & St. Augustine
Visting mom....landing in Orlando7pm on a Sunday and I am looking for a kitchen with a "New American" flair and that knows how to cook fish.
I will have to stay at a hotel in the area that night and drive to St Augustine in the morning. I was thinking about Ritz Carleton Grand Lakes or Disney.
Any suggestions would help as I am unfamiliar with the area.
Many Thanks!!
Ideas for Languedoc-Roussillon and around?
A bit north of the coast is a great little town called Uzes. Great saturday market, wonderful town.

Grafton Inn vermont
Morgana,
I am looking for good food. I noticed that many of the area restaurants tend to have more "pub" style menus.
Grafton Inn vermont
I will be staying here for 2 night in February. 1 night we will be dining at the Inn. What are my options for the second night? I am willing to drive 20-30 minutes for something good!!
Dining in Paris - overcoming language barriers
I just returned from 2 weeks in France last night (1 week in the Languedoc and 1 week in Paris). My French is limited at best. All of my interactions with waiters and waitresses were positive, even when I did not understand something they made me feel comfortable.
I had dinner Saturday night at Le Petite Cheval de Menge in the 11th Arrd. and when I did not recognise the words for a certain type of baby chicken on the menu, the young waitress put her thumbs under her arms and flapper her arms like a chicken!!!
Me and my wife had a great laugh and it was a good icebreaker.
What I do before traveling to a different country is I make up flash cards (1 for subway/taxi, 1 for restaurants, 1 for hotel questions) and I keep them in my pocket at all times for quick translations. It is better than pulling out the Fodors Guide at the table!!
Have a great time, I did see a vegetarian restaurant on Rue Richer in the 10th.
Brasserie Lipp
We just want to belly up at the bar and have a drink or 2. Then we are splitting up into 2 groups going to different restaurants.
Can we "belly up" at Flore or Lipp for 30 minutes or so. Someone else had suggested Cafe de L'alma on Ave. rapp also.
Brasserie Lipp
Does BL have a large bar area?? I have 30 ppl looking to wet their wistle before dining elsewhere
Trip Report Long (Les Fines Gueles, Chez Dumonet, Violon D'Ingres, Poilane)
Glad to hear the positive report on Violon. I am dining there next week and I ran across some negetive feedback since the chef de cuisine change recently.
Advanced Certificate Wine Course in NYC - WSET or American Sommelier?
I also agree with tasting and more tasting, but tasting combined with the instruction and instrutors at WSET is hard to beat. I took the advanced course a few years ago and I only wish I had the time to move on to the Diploma Studies.
