Russell's Pasadena [moved from Los Angeles board]

I'm an old Russell's fan ..

my parents use to take me there in the late 50's when they were in Bixby Knolls, later years I went to their Naples (long beach) location and their burgers and pies were always great.

been living in the Northeast for many years now - and crave their fresh ollieberry and strawberry pies. all fresh fruit with a glaze over the berries and served with whipped cream or ice cream.

so can anyone help me with the recipe? want to make this for my wife for mothers day........

thanks!

Klein's in Belmar AND Colts Neck Inn- Need options on BRUNCH and PRIVATE PARTIES, please!

Try looking at the Shadowbrook Inn in Shrewsbury.......
they do a great job
and have rooms that would fit your size group

Blue Water Seafood - Red Bank

re the managers butt in your wife's back

the manager, like the owner have no idea of how rude they can be - as this scene happens frequently

this happened frequently in their EB location - so we stopped going there

Great food in Old Bridge/Sayreville/Marlboro area?? Recs please!!!

I disagree with both RGR and angelo04 re SamVera
food prep is poor
service is so so
frankly I'd rather eat anywhere else than to go back to SV's - as I did recently

I do agree with Masala Kitchen, Shanghi Bun both excellent choices

New GREEK Restaurant coming to Applegarth Road, Monroe

I haven't had an opportunity to visit Tasso's new restaurant - but I'm at his Highland Park rest often.

Tasso is a smart guy - I'm sure he'll find a way to make it work.

Meanwhile - anyone who is close to TAVERNA OUZO, should give it a try and support a restaurant that you'll be going to for years

Patria - thought I had a rez

Made a rez for this coming Saturday night this week, rec'd a call from Patria today - telling me that the person that made the rez - made a mistake. Rez was for 8:00, they told me that we could come in at 5 or 10 - told them no thanks.

We choose this restaurant because someone in our party is having a birthday and they wanted to go there.

What would be your choice, was looking forward to latin inspired food

Restaurants in Monroe, New Jersey

East Brunswick = restaurant Mecca

Wow you must be speaking of a different East Brunswick than the one in New Jersey, as EB has maybe one passable restaurant

and Monroe is worse.........

Wow I feel for you Duppie - if it was me I'd move to another town and if in NJ it would be somewhere way north of you - possibly Montclair - where your statement of restaurant Mecca would hold true

..

Cedars in Somerville is now The Smokehouse Barbecue

nor my mind.

Restaurant for Rehearsal Dinner in/near Shrewsbury

4get about Buona Sera, San Remo or La Pasteria - you'll be disappointed. Piccola Italia would be my choice!

-----
Piccola Italia
837 W Park Ave, Ocean, NJ 07712

Name of closed sushi restaurant in Colts Neck

at Yoshi's, it didn't matter what you ordered - he would bring you what he thought you should eat - which is funny - but it was always good. we'll miss him

Greatest Jersey Pizza that most people haven't heard of

ah'pizz was good, but it's gone downhill - as the food comes out luke warm & has just fallen off of their game - which I feel bad about, cause I really thought ah'pizz was great!

Dinner recommendation in Central Jersey

sorry RGR, as much as I enjoy your recommendations - you should try Pithari again. It is loud, but the food and service are always very good and the owner is exceptionally nice!

Sourdough bread in Monmouth County?

nothing at all will compare to San Francisco or buying it directly from LaBrea Bakery in Los Angeles. although i think that wegmans carries labrea's sourdough that is made here in NJ, which is close - but Not the same.

Authentic Mexican food in Union County?

ejoffe: If you find it - I'll be there. give me just one good New Mexico style anywhere in NJ or even NY city.

Sahara ~ New Brunswick

Sahara serves good food at reasonable prices and the portions are generous. Most mains are from 12.95-17.95 with either soup or salad. It's also a BYO

Best Ethnic BYO's in or around Somerset County

Moving to the city of Somerset (Franklin Township) soon and this site has been so good in helping us find great restaurants - thought I'd give it a try for new restaurants in our soon to be new home.
Especially like Thai, Indian, Vietnamese

Please help! Restaurant with SMALL private room in Central NJ

You could also look at Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury. Along with having large rooms they have small private rooms. It's a nice restaurant with good food.

Bistro Soleil in Hightstown, NJ

yeah....
but all chains always seem to get their liquor licenses. possibly cities should lower there license cost for independent operators to make the playing field a little more even

Favorite Resto's for Paella

Which restaurant do you think serves the best authentic Paella in
Monmouth, Middlesex and Somerset Counties?
let me know..

Holiday Pies

my 1st and only choice is Mr. Tods in Somerset. Here you'll find great pies - much better than the pedestrian quality at DO, Sickles & Wegmans. So if you're anywhere around here try them. They have small one serving pies that will give you an idea of how good Mr. Tods is.

New to the Matawan area

for Greek, try Pithari Taverna in Highland Park. about 20 minutes from you. Great food, reasonable prices, byo. if you do a search on Pithari you'll find reviews.

Good to Great Restaurants in & near Somerset NJ

city of Somerset
thanks!

Good to Great Restaurants in & near Somerset NJ

Moving soon to Somerset and have always found this board to be a great guide to restaurants. Prefer ethnic food & byo's although we'll try any good to great restaurant at least once.

Client Dinner Near Metropark?

How about Soho on George in New Brunswick, we've always enjoyed our meals there - but haven't been there in several months.

Farm Markets in Middlesex & Monmouth Counties

RyderHill farm stand is now open. Thought that they opened later this season, but was told that they actually opened earlier (yesterday) than normal.
They had White Peaches & Zucchini only..........usually they have a much larger variety. Peaches were 7.50 for a very large basket and Zucchini was $1. for a very large basket.
All vegetables and fruit sold here is in these large quantities.
They are open Sundays only. and on Ryders Lane in East Brunswick, across the street from the East Brunswick Jewish Center.

Bagel Recommendations in Central NJ?

MIlltown Bagel on Ryders Lane - in Milltown - 1/4 mile west of the Milltown Home Depot. I feel that they are the best bagels in Middlesex county. Hard on the outside & chewy soft on the inside and not gigantic. Great Whole Wheat, Rye, Everything, Flagels (they don't charge more for these flat bagels). In total about 12 - 15 varieties + great lowfat vegetable cream cheese.

Farm Markets in Middlesex & Monmouth Counties

RyderHill farm stand now has a new sign out for peaches - so maybe/possibly this great produce stand will be open this coming Sunday (previously they've been open on Sundays only).
I think they purchase their produce from a variety of farms and re-sell at very low prices - you just need to purchase the whole basket of fruit or vegetables. Will keep you posted on whether they are open this Sunday.
The farm stand is on Ryders Lane in East Brunswick across the street from the EBJC.

Bistro At Red Bank, NJ

sorry you had a mediocre experience. I just wish the Bistro in Red Bank were closer to where I live. As the food is always good, most of the time great - and their service and sashimi are always excellent. We also enjoy many of their entrees and apps including the lobster pancakes ..!

Farm Markets in Middlesex & Monmouth Counties

Well we're in the season for Farm Markets.
Can we get your favorite?

I'm near the Rutgers Farm Market which is open on Fridays - haven't been there in a couple of weeks -as the last time I was there - there were very few vendors and the vendors there had a very limited selection.

I'm looking for one with a broad selection of produce. I'm curious to know which are the best, what types of produce do they have and how are the prices??

Last year there was a great one in East Brunswick, where you could purchase great produce at very reasonable prices that was open on Sundays only. So far they have not been open this year, they are located across the street from the East Brunswick Jewish Temple on Ryders lane.

TIA..

Princeton NJ Booster Juice Closed

there are no good Vietnamese restaurants in the Northeast - period, end of story. Not sure why as there could be, but all great Asian food is the West - KaliforNia! to my regret.
