Why is Moody's Falafel palace boarded up?
Yes, I think it is has been up and down over the years & definitely better than when the actual Moody was running it. I wonder if they are remodeling or had a fire or something because all the windows are covered in newspaper. In the past year I have been given chicken sandwiches when I ordered a falafel & I am a vegetarian! Now, I just go to Sepals in the Galleria Mall.
anyplace for lunch near Somerville District Court?
I like Maya Sol in on Broadway in East Somerville. They have really fresh Salvadoran and Mexican dishes and I especially love the pupusas (all diff flavors). Yum.
Why is Moody's Falafel palace boarded up?
I drove by Moody's Falafel Palace last weekend and there was newspaper covering the windows? What is going on? Remodeling I hope. If I have to go back to HiFi pizza in Central for late late night eats I will be unhappy
Vegetarian restaurants in Boston
I would also recommend Sofra in Cambridge/Belmont. Lots of tasty Mediterranean treats. The only problem is that it is too crowded.

Any suggestions for an an informal biz dinner in Waltham ?
A couple of peeps are vegetarian but other than that not too many restrictions.

In town for one night... Where to eat ?
On business from Boston tomorrow night and staying at the Palmer House & would love some good recommendations for dinner. There are 3 of us, 2 omnivores & 1 vegetarian. I think we are all pretty open minded so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Suggestions for Davis Square, not Gargoyle's
The restaurant that used to be China Sun which I believe is now called Tokyo Tapei is pretty good, much to my surprise. I was surprised since I usually do not trust Asian restaurants that combine cuisines from different countries. I had Spicy Szechaun Eggplant and the spears were not mushy and not doused in too much oil. All the dishes were packed with flavor even It's a great quick place to grab a bite before a movie or a concert.
Dosa with coconut chutney
namaskar has a whole section of south indian dishes including numerous kinds of dosa & they do have delish coconut chutney to go with. sometimes they even bring you mini dosas at their buffet. i recently tried a paneer dosa at namaskar which had the regular potato-veggie filling but also had big chunks of paneer in them. their mysore is good & way hot ! cafe of india also has a dosa station at their buffet on weekends (harvard sq)
Jazz bar? Or live music bar?
Les Zygomates (near South Station in Leather District) has great jazz and you do not have to sit for dinner but if you do want dinner that is a great place to be, especially if you like wine.
Supports Local Farms? Vegetarian Options?
there is veggie heaven pizza place in harvard sq (in club passim) and i believe it is owned by didi eammons and she is a proponent of organic & local ingredients. i know that peeps on the boston board have mixed emotions about the place but it may fit the bill. it is a little hippyish but if your mom is from cali, maybe she wouldn't mind so much.
Help us avoid a family feud! (Restaurant Recs., please)

where else can they get a meal where there will be 4 guys in shimmery sweatsuits with pinky rings watching you eat !
represent the 'ville !!!!!!
What is a "Bostony" experience and does it represent good chow?
Here is one from my Umass days. A "Cheeseburg Sub" ! Not a Cheeseburger Sub (which I think is weird anyway) but you have to leave off the er at the end of the word. This would also relate to a "Hamburg Pizza". Since I did not grow up in MA I thought a Hamburg Pizza was something unique to Germany. If those don't work there is always the ubiquitous Chicken Broccoli Ziti or Scallops wrapped in Bacon". Having said that, all these things taste good but they just annoy me sometimes !!!!!

the no name stinks now. it is more corporate and since they got a liquor license the days of bringing a case of beer in while waiting in line is over. the crazy greek waiter no long offer beer chugging contests for the paycheck either. oh well. all things must pass ! good thing your friends pulled you in from the pond, mine probably wouldn't !!! lol.
Celebration Dinner In Cambridge
As I usually respond to requests of this nature, Oleana (Inman) which is nice & dark (a bit cramped) but great menu & knowledgeable staff. Atasca for Portuguese (Kendall), & honorable mention for Rendezvous & Central Kitchen (Central). Cuchi Cuchi is fun & funky but food is average.

i love roti ! i usually get the veg with curry pumpkin here in boston. i also love doubles too. in boston you really have to go to a special area for roti since for some reason the regualr populace hasn't caught up to it yet. their loss i say !!!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions ! I will be staying on Yonge St & will have access to wheels so I should be able to get around. Looks like that I won't go hungry ! If anyone ever needs places in Boston I can certainly point you in the right direction !
Best Indian
namaskar has a great buffet with lots of new dishes not the same old favorites all the time. also cafe of india in harvard sq has a decent buffet with a dosai station too although last time i went there the rush at the dosai station was mad and i yelled at the guy behind me for pushing his plate into my spine !!!

Hello,
Living in Boston & being a fellow 'hound many people write to us asking for recommendations so now it's my turn. I am visiting friends in Toronto this weekend and if you would to be as kind to give me some tips on best ethnic (middle eastern, indian, etc) places that are vegetarian friendly, I would be grateful.
what is the best falafel in Boston?
please let me know because it will be easier for me to get there than to always go to watertown at fordees, although i do have an allegiance to fordees. they're lentil soup rocks. barada isn't too bad either on the other side of mass ave.
