Gourmet Hotdogs/Hamburgers close to Western, Massachusetts?

Check out Local Burger in Noho. Not gourmet, but good, and used locally sourced beef. Don't know if they cater.

Flavorless, flaccid pizza at The Hungry Ghost Bakery, Northampton, MA

I find BE's challah to be the best I've had in New England, and I grew up with a great uncle who owned a Jewish bakery in Brooklyn.

New Vietnamese Restaurant in North Adams, MA

Original post was two years ago. Saigon is now on spring st. in williamstown. have only been there once; it was pretty good.

Restaurants in or near Lenox

Closing date, WSB

Does anyone know when the Williamsburg Snack Bar usually closes for the season? Just spent 3 days on Maine cost stuffing myself with shellfish and am feeling the urge again for fried seafood and funky atmosphere.

Coco's in Easthampton MA

I would travel to Amherst for great fried chicken! Someone please post after they get to try some.

Rehearsal Dinner Spot in Lenox, Ma?

Please check the postings on Bistro Zinc, as there are many of us who consider it useless.

Rehearsal Dinner Spot in Lenox, Ma?

Can't recommend Firefly; it's not much more than a slightly upscale Friendlys.

The Berkshires with a baby

You're very welcome. Let us know if you enjoy it.

Lenox637: nice to see your posts again!

The Berkshires with a baby

I'm with you, ebaba. This isn't a board for etiquette lessons; it's about food. One additional recommendation, reachable on travel from North County to GB, is Rouge in West Stockbridge. Recommend the bar, where you can get sandwich, tapas or full dining menus. The food is outstanding, and the couple who own it used to bring their kids when they were babies and are very child friendly!

Go to Go Berry in Northampton, MA

Thanks for the info! I usually indulge in Herrels chocolate pudding ice cream when I'm in town, but now I'll try Go Berry when I'm trying to limit my sweet tooth. Side Hill is the only yogurt I use at home, and I know Mapleline is a fine dairy.
Sounds great!

Primo in Maine

As another long time Primo fan (I used to eat at the restaurant they ran in my neck of the woods, Chatham NY) I too have been only eating off the bar, then small plates menu for the last few years. Am planning on being there this Thursday, and am really excited to hear MCM loves the arancini, which I've yet to try. $1 oysters, arancini and a a drink sounds heavenly to me!

Rockland lunch/dinner/lobstersuggestions?

Anyone else have a similar experience recently at Sea Basket? I last ate there in the spring, and was really disappointed with my fried belly clams. Didn't know if the clams were under-par, or exactly what. Too bad, as it's really a convenient stop for me on my way to Camden.

Ducktrap smoked shellfish: RI/MA?

Whole Foods carries a variety of Ducktrap smoked items.

recent experience with Rt 7 grill in Great Barrington?

Thanks Magiesmom and Tsarina! Will be at Whole Foods tomorrow, but didn't find them last time I looked. I haven't looked at Nejaimes, guess that will be my next stop.

recent experience with Rt 7 grill in Great Barrington?

Glad you enjoyed your meal. I've been trying to find a source for those white anchovy filets. They don't taste canned, and they're the first anchovies I've really enjoyed!

The Meat Market, Great Barrington

Am headed down to GB next week to check out the new Meat Market and the Salt Store. Was thinking about lunch at The Meat Market, as I noticed they had a photo of a board listing sandwiches. Has anyone eaten there, got any feedback?

NYC to Manchester, VT for Labor Day Weekend-stops along the way??

Meant to say southwestern!

NYC to Manchester, VT for Labor Day Weekend-stops along the way??

You're inland; no lobster shacks. And south eastern VT has been horribly flooded by Irene, so please check your trip plan before you hit a possibly non-existent road. As to Manchester, try a search within this board, as there are lots of listings.

I've rarely had anything I didn't like at Mission. Love the spicy shrimp, the empanadas are excellent (fillings vary), and am a fan of their grilled Caesar salad -- it's semi deconstructed, though I liked it better when it had shaved pecorino rather than the grated cheese it was served with last time I ordered it.
They also often have interesting specials. The only thing I've had there that didn't hit its mark was the house cured salmon. And I agree, as I often do, with the Tsarina that the tortilla (a cold, quiche like torta) of the day is often great, and what a deal.
They now serve 3 different meal size paellas, but haven't tried.
Stay dry, and enjoy some other day!

Here's another suggestion in the Pitt! Try the Cuban sandwich at Mission Tapas Bar on North Street. I've said great things about Mission for a while, and eat there regularly. But stopped in after working the other night, and just had a glass of wine and the sandwich. Not a traditional Cuban pressed sandwich, this was on a huge chunk of baguette. It was stuffed with their 3 hour pulled pork, was held together with some melted Mahon cheese, and dressed with a little pickled fennel. Am not a fennel fan, but this sandwich worked. Had to immediately ask for another napkin as it was so tender and drippy. Came with a little side of peppery greens, and all that for $9. It was great, and will become one of the standards we eat there for as long as they keep it on the menu.

I wish I could help more, but haven't been there in a while. My first and only experience was not so great. It's a haul from where I live, so have been hesitant to return. The night we ate there the BBQ was uniformly bad--not fresh, very dried out. I admit to being really picky, especially about beef BBQ (am a one time Texan), but the pork dishes at the table were poor too.
The place was totally understaffed that night, so we forgave the service, but the only good, actually memorable, dish was the thinly sliced fried onions, which were great.
If you choose to go, please let us know what you think.

Primo in Maine

Just to add: I've eaten at Primo dozens of times, having followed Melissa and Price from their first restaurant in Chatham, NY. One of the most delicious things I ever had at Primo was an app of local diver scallops they got in that morning. Can't remember the presentation; served whole in shell with the roe. They were sublime. When I expressed my appreciation they told me the seafood market was down the road and to stop there on my way home.
I tend to eat in the bar these days, but when I'm in the area (a few times a year) I always try for Thursday or Sunday, and get $1 local oysters, as fresh as they get.

Best Thai in Albany PLEASE!!!!

Just a quick addendum on Blue Spice. Had lunch at the Colonie one this afternoon. First time for me. Unfortunately, my stomach has been out of sorts, so I stuck to bland (not my preference in Thai.) Had to agree with many that have posted here that the service was delightful. The food was just so-so. Had the spring rolls-very disappointing. Tiny little rolls with virtually no filling, way too much wrapper--and the very worst thing, they were egg roll wrappers, not rice paper! I don't care for egg rolls, and found the appetizer very unappetizing.
The pad thia was OK, though there was something too sweet in it that I couldn't identify. Tasted like overly caramelized onions. Maybe an odd fish sauce? But was certainly edible.
And when the server noticed I was picking out the bean sprouts (one of the most likely culprits for unwanted organisms in your food) they immediately offered to get me a fresh order made without sprouts. I declined, but appreciated the attentiveness.
Will go back and try some of the curries sometimes, but not in a rush to do so.

suggestions for fun, off-the-beaten-path Berkshires dinner?

Have to agree with Magiesmom on both La Fogata and Dreamaway. The latter is great for a mellow vibe but the food I've had there was quite forgettable.

suggestions for fun, off-the-beaten-path Berkshires dinner?

Sorry, but I'd definitely skip Baba Louies (not what it used to be) and Barrington Brewery. Neither is anything exceptional (if even any good) nor out of the ordinary.
Rouge is excellent and a bit more casual. You might try the Rt. 7 Grill in Great Barrington; decent food, attractive but very relaxed atmosphere.

Tex-Mex in Lenox

And by the way, if ice cream isn't on your radar, try their chocolate cupcakes. Real vanilla buttercream (not powdered sugar frosting) and a delicious chocolate base. They seem to always have them Fri-Sun. Expensive, but the best around!

Tex-Mex in Lenox

Haven't eaten at Jonathans recently, but second the Tsarina on dessert at Chocolate Springs! Love the iced chocolate, and am pretty fond of a mixture of dark chocolate and hazelnut gelato too.
Most definitely avoid Tex-Mex.

Saturday lunch near Lenox

Mission doesn't get too crowded with the younger, partying folks till well after 7, so it's still a very comfortable place if you're having an earlier dinner. More specials at dinnertime too. Had cockles for the first time there this winter,
