30th Birthday party for around 30 people

Back room at JM Curley's!

Mid-Priced unique spots in Boston + Cambridge + Allston??

Agree on Russell House and would also recommend The Gallows. Great cheese and chacuterie as well as a fun ever changing menu.

Morel season is starting!!

Gallows has lovely fresh morels stuffed with goat cheese on their current snack menu. Delicious!

Ladies Dinner for 9?

Thanks Carrie but we are having dinner in San Francisco, not Sonoma...anything along the lines of Maya in the city? Thank you!!!

Ladies Dinner for 9?

I would prefer a restaurant where the entrees are $20 and under. And we love all types of food but would probably lean away from sushi or chinese on this particular night. I was thinking Mexican could be fun?

Ladies Dinner for 9?

Hello Bay Area Chowhounders!

I am coming to the west coast from Boston in May with 8 lady friends and we are looking for some fun, affordable recs. Specifically, we are celebrating a special milestone with a day of wine tasting in Sonoma and then coming back to have dinner in the city. (Read: we will be tipsy.) We are staying in the Union Square area but recs in any location would be great. Looking for something that's fun, high energy, and not over the top pricey. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Anyone tried Cafe Mamtaz in Southie?

I concur - so far an enthusiastic thumbs up for Cafe Mamtaz. I have had the chicken tikka masala as well as a delicious eggplant dish and a vegetable curry so far. All fresh, well spiced and delicious. (And as far as the naan - pop it in the oven for 3-5 minutes at 400 degrees when you get it home and it crisps back up nicely.) :)

Birthday Dinner at Post 390

I have to concur. I don't like to give negative commentary on a new restaurant but I must agree with lissy. I have had brunch and dinner at Post 390 and both times had found the experience sub par. For brunch, I had the cobb salad, which was mediocre at best, not to mention $17. I adore a cobb salad, and also pay no mind to shelling out for some good brunch, but for $17 I would expect a superior cobb. A few weeks later, I returned for dinner and ordered the burger, ordered medium, and was delivered a burger that was well done to the point of being grey. Bottom line - love the atmosphere, not impressed with the food.

Good eats and drinks in Hoxton/Shoreditch Area

Hi all,

I am heading over to London for 3 nights and staying in the Shoreditch area and am looking for some recommendations on places to eat and drink. For food I would love to know of any good gastropubs or restaurants serving traditional or modern Britich Cuisine. And for drinks, anywhere that serves a great cocktail in a fun/eclectic but also upscale atmosphere.

Thank you in advance!

Pumpkin is in the air

Sweet Tooth on W. Broadway in Southie makes a pretty delicious pumpkin cranberry cheesecake with a gingersnap crust...mmmmm...

Any Good Places for Grape Nut Ice Cream? (Besides Louie's)

Kind of far from Boston...but the Ice Cream Smuggler on Route 6A in Dennisport has awesome grapenut ice cream.

Fresh jalapeno poppers

I concur on village smokehouse...I had them a few months back and they appear to be fresh. Nice heat, good crunch to the jalepenos.

[London] Can anyone share any experiences with the gastropub 'Bumpkin?'

Hi all - Will be on London for a night later this month and was wondering if anyone had eaten at the gastropub Bumpkin? I was told it is wonderful but would like to hear some other reports.

Any other gastropub recs in W1 or W2 will also be appreciated!

Long wait at Silvertone?

Hi - I had the same idea last night - 6pm dinner at Silvertone pre 8pm Eddie Izzard show. Me and my 3 friends arrived right at 6:00 to be told there was almost an hour wait. So I may suggest getting there a bit earlier if possible...
