Boston Fish Share
I have done the Cape Ann share for a few seasons now and love it. They have many options- whole fish/ filet/ weekly/ every other week- so there are a lot of choices. The fish is always the freshest possible and delicious. If you can't get to the pick up you can arrange delivery thru the folks at Metro Pedal Power. Also, the recent season has offered more fish varieties than the earlier seasons.
Need Help with Choosing a CSA for Summer '12
I've been doing the Red Fire CSA for the 3 years and love it. They do offer PYO at the farm but I have never gone because I don't have a car. The variety and quality has always been great. I also do the optional add on fruit share.
MarcElla hazan garlic scented tomato salad
I have made many of Marcella Hazan's recipes over the years but never her garlic scented tomato salad until this weekend. A friend insisted I try it. I was low on time so skipped peeling the tomatoes. The dressing was amazing- we all used bread to sop it up! Has anyone else made this and should I peel the tomatoes next time? Also are there other must try salad recipes in her books?

This is my Third year with Red Fire Farm csa. I would give it a 5+ . Everything is amazing. They give a great variety. The melons are amazing too. The peaches as well. They also have great newsletters/ communication.

I am doing Red Fire CSA for the third year in a row and it awesome. The peaches have been great as have the tomatoes Great quality, and variety. I will sign up again next year.
I am also doing the Cape Ann Fish share (summer season ending next week). Its been wonderful. It starts up agin early September. They do offer an every other week share, that could be an alternative to splitting it with someone. You could eat what you want, freeze the rest to eat on the off week. I think now that I am used to the freshness of the fish through the share it would be very hard to go to the store for fish now.

Problem solved! The bottle was not screwed in all the way! I LOVE this thing and wonder why I waited so long to buy it. Living without a car, lugging bottle of seltzer was a pain ( not to mention expensive and not very green). This is a great machine!

I just bought my SodaStream. I bought the original model. It doesnt seem to be working. I filled the bottle and press the lever down many times but it never beeps... any idea what is wrong?

this coupon didnt have a code at all, so I can see how the server wouldnt have a way to ring it in. they were very nice about it and very apologetic, even though it wasnt at all their fault. on a side note, I had the salmon which came with a peashoot salad, asparagus and an aioli and it was lovely. The star of the meal though was the house cured brisket my friend ordered. it was wonderful and the cabbage was kinda caramelized. I loved it.

New Season of Cape Ann Fish CSF starting next week
I just wanted to give anyone who is interested a heads up that the new season starts next week. They have added a new site (Fenway area) and some new share options. Also, there is a bike delivery option via Metro Pedal Power.

Help with Billi Bi soup
I would like to make Billi Bi soup this weekend. I have only had it in restaurants and am hoping for some help on what recipe to use or any other tips for this dish. Some recipes call for fish stock and some seem to just call for the juices from the cooked mussels. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Fish soups without milk or cream
these are great suggestions. I am part of a fish share and often have leftover white fish. Today I am getting pollack. I often make chowder but wanted something light and less creamy.

I wanted to add that their skim milk is the only skim milk I can drink. For some reason, it has a much richer taste than others.

Last I heard, Crescent Ridge does not deliver to Boston proper. The Thatcher guys are so nice, on a really cold morning, they left my milk in the box I leave out for them and they called me to tell me to take it in, so that the milk wouldnt freeze and explode....so nice.

Hi everyone, I got Maine shrimp yesterday in my Cape ann share- 5lbs. they are so good- just wondering what you all think the shelf life is for these. I have them in a bag on ice now in the fridge.

Community Sustainable Seafood Recipes
I didnt have much time tonight so I ended up fileting the fish ( this is a pretty easy fish to filet). I left the skin on one side though. Then I sauteed the fish in a bit of oil and finished it in the oven with some parsley lemon garlic herb butter that I had already made and had in the fridge. It was so good! I also got the Maine Shrimp so I boiled some up as an appetizer- YUM. I literally put them in the water for about 30 seconds then drained and we peeled them and ate them.

I made the rosemary butter veal chop recipe tonight and it was wonderful! My chops were a bit more than an inch and took a bit longer to cook then the recipe indicated, I ended up popping them in the oven for a few minutes. The crust on the outside had a wonderful thyme and rosemary flavor and the inside was a wonderful pink. The sauce is really a brothy and flavorful and absorbed right into the meat so it really seemed sauce-less which was fine. I thought this was a wonderful recipe. The only downside is the cost of the veal chops, but I thought it was a wonderful dish and worthy of splurging on!

Has anyone made her recipe for homemade creme fraiche? I use quite a bit of it and thought it might be handy to be able to make it ( and probably less expensive). Has anyone had luck with this?
