De Buyer Cookware is ABSOLUTELY Amazing!!!
I have replaced my electric cook top with De Dietrich induction. I have also got some new cookware mainly Enamelled Cast Iron. Now I am weighing up what to get in SS range. My research boiled down to three makes: Demeyere, AL Clad and Paderno with a possible fourth Sitram. If De Buyer works just s well I would get that. Has any one used any of these on the induction cook top?
Can't decide - Falk, Sitram, Paderno, or Demeyere??
I was told by an expert who has been demonstrating most of the makes, that the Demeyere is by far the best. Their pans are made of 7 layers of various metals which continues all the way to the top of the pans and it makes a big difference when cooking. Some of the Demeyere product has a life time guarantee, and the most important aspect to consider is the induction cooking is coming fast and there will be time when you'll want one and it sure would be nice not to have to throw away your precious pots and pans, like I have to do now.
Best enameled cast iron cookware?
I got it and it looks the same as the LC, and it performs well.
stainless steel, iron handles?
I live in Australia and we would not get it here but I am interested in the price comparison between it and the Demeyere.
Le Creuset and oven
I have solved the issue concerning browning onions. I took my LC fry pan and the Dutch oven to the shop where they were demonstrating the induction cook top which I have bought, but not installed yet. The lady was very knowledgeable and helped me to solve my problem.
The glass on my cook top has broken, and I was forced to use the smaller ring to test the LC cookware on. This created uneven heat which got my onions all clumped together and very unevenly browned. She then demonstrated using my two pans and the onions came perfectly cooked and browned. She also recommended to buy one Demeyere all purpose pan (she is not selling them). Apparently this company makes the best cookware in the world. She used to work for them and she said that in all the years of being demonstrator, all over the world, she has not found any better cookware, and that includes Al Clad. She did like it as well.
it looks like I will have to spend the money and get one, I just wish they were not so expensive.
Magimix Food Processor from France
I have had Magimix since I got married back in '69. Fantastic machine. later on I needed a larger one and it is still going strong. I love it and use most days.
stainless steel, iron handles?
Would anyone know how it compares to Demeyere, it is also 7ply and supposed to be the ants pants of cooking. Can someone please tell me how much would Mauviel Induc'inox 11" dutch oven or a fry pan sell for?
Le Creuset and oven
I have just bought one because it can do Stove-top-to-oven, but I am finding that it doesn't brown onions as well as SS or Scan pan, and it also takes a lot longer. Correct me if I am wrong because it may be something that I am doing.
I hate my LC grill pan!
Thank you for your reply, I am going ahead with Induction cooktop and will take my LC pot to the shop where they can demo it for me. Then I can see if it is me, or the pot that is not up the scratch. The demonstrator thought it may be a faulty pan. We will see.
I hate my LC grill pan!
I was making Goulash, I fried onions wanted them really nice and golden, before I added vegetables. It took for ever on the very low heat, then I got fed up and I upped the heat a bit, it then burnt a few and it didn't cook very evenly. When I use my old non stick cookware it cooks onions and everything else to perfection in no time.
At the moment I am deciding whether to get the Induction cook top or replace the Electric one, therefore I am testing if I can cook with all new non stick cookware. I did get Kenwood non stick fry pan as well as LC as they will both be suitable for induction.
What do you use your Dutch oven for?
I hate my LC grill pan!
Hi everyone,
I wish I read your messages yesterday before I bought one very expensive frypan and even more expensive a Dutch oven. I cooked in the Dutch oven tonight and was not happy the way it handled the food. I am used to Scan pan which has always performed to my satisfaction. I am getting the induction cooktop and Scanpan doesn't work on it.

Where did you buy Demeyere on line?

Induction cooking for home kitchens.
Lagoon lisa,
I am purchasing the same cook top you have, we get it in Australia. You mentioned Le Creuset working well with it. Does it brown the onions without slight sticking. I have a large LC fry pan which I haven't used since I got Scan Pan. SP doesn't work on the induction stove, so I am back to drawing board as to what to buy for frying and stewing meats. Or perhaps I'll just get a good electric one again. Please let me know your thoughts.

Commercial induction cooktop
Recently the glass top broke on my electric cook top, therefore I am currently making a decision whether to replace it or upgrade to induction cook top. I have a set of Scan-pan Cookware which I just adore, these would not work on the induction stove. I also have 5 or 6 pots in good quality SS. These are OK on the induction but I only use them when I am boiling things, because I feel they do not fry onions as well, and if I fry the meat it sticks a bit, let say it is not non stick.
Sales personel asures me that food cooked in SS cooks pots will not burn because of the precise and constant heat supply in these units. Whilst the latter is true, I doubt that the food will not stick a bit in these pots. I particularly had a difficulty to believe what they said, since they used Jamie Oliver teflon coated Cookware in the Demo, , and refused to show me how the food would cook in SS pan.
My question is: does the precise temperature and the constant heat make a big diffence in the way the food gets cooked in the SS frypan, or will I have to spend over $500 in the special Demeyere stick free pan?
