One of America's Most Fascinating Undiscovered Restaurants

Thanks for the memories, Chowhound! I used to eat lunch in the Southeast Asian Restaurant almost every Friday when I worked in Bedford, Mass. Their lunch buffet is amazing and costs (if memory serves) $6. Sadly, I moved to upstate New York in 2002 and haven't eaten there since.

Essentials for the Home Baker

Wow, thanks scrapcatb. I've had my KitchenAid for six years and never knew about the adjustment. Maybe I should read the manual (if I can find it) to see what else I don't know. ;-)

Honeycrisp. Ask for It by Name.

The Northern Spies are starting to come in here in Upstate New York. I'll take a Spy over a Honeycrisp any day. Hard to find, but so worth it.

hidden saratoga

I respectfully disagree on PJ's, Alex. The portions are tiny, and every time I've been there the BBQ has been dry and largely tasteless.

Clifton Park, NY

The sushi place is actually called Sushi Na and is excellent. It's a tiny little place in a shopping strip just off Route 9.

Also good is Kasa, which is in the Hannaford Plaza on Clifton Country Road. The chicken box lunch is amazing (miso soup, rice, chix teriyaki, four seafood shumai, four pieces of tempura--two of which are shrimp--and a california roll, all for $8.95).
