Best Chicken Pot Pie in LA?

I've been searching for this.

So far I've tried a few.
John O Groats - Best so far, pastry flaky crust, white meat, peas, pearl onions, carrots, and some other stuff, but very good.

Daily Grill - Dont remember all the details, but it was disappointing.
Grill on the alley - Dont remember all the details, but it was disappointing.
Byrds - Even more dissappointing than the previous two.

But I will definitely have to try Musso and Franks, and Kate Mantilini, as well as some of the others. Thanks for more options.

Party of one for the bar?

exactly. which isn't necessarily bad, but if you're just wanting to eat. my advice would be to avoid that place in the later hours.

Party of one for the bar?

I think you can eat at the bar at Spago,
Also Il fornaio in BH has a good bar to eat at.
Westside tavern in west la would be good.
Dont forget AOC on third
Baby Blues BBQ has a decent bar to eat at too although for bbq i usually go elswhere.
Fathers office in culver city, although getting a spot at the bar can be rough at times.
Also great NYC pizza, at Joe's Pizza on sunset, or Vito's on La Cienega, I keep both in regular rotation
Village Idiot is decent, but I wouldnt go there too late.
Chaya Brasserie off robertson would be a great option
The Tower Bar in that Hotel on sunset
Lola's on fairfax is decent
RH at the Andaz Hotel I have been wanting to try and have heard good things.
and I even think Comme Ca does too, but I forgot.

thats all i can come up with off the top of my head for now.

First date help! "Deep" valley Encino/Reseda/Northridge? Tues. Sept. 15th.

I like Laurel Tavern but not sure if you get there at 7 how easy a table will be to get as its one of those places you order at the bar and hunt for a table. You may also want to try Henry's Hat just a bit further than Laurel Tavern. I cant think of anything in Encino that fits what you're looking for. You're better off venturing a bit more east to studio city area.

Price of tasting menu at Spago?

This sounds about right, I was there a couple months ago and it came out to be a bit over 250/person all in for the 10 course and wine tastings. It was a wonderful meal and we were probably there about 4 hours. I highly recommend it if you can afford it.

sushi recommendation in Encino or Tarzana?

If you must stay in that area, I would say go to Kushiyu.

However, I would recommend you go slightly further west and hit up Go's Mart for some of the best sushi in Los Angeles. Seriously.

best argentine restaurant on melrose, carlitos gardel or lalas?

I've been to Lalas and it was ok, I wasn't too impressed. I have yet to go to Carlitos Gardel, but I have heard good things. So I would recommend Carlitos Gardel over Lalas.

top 3 BBQ places in Kansas City, MO

I can't really put this in order I had to keep all 3 in my rotation.

And by meat I am only referring to beef brisket as thats pretty much what I get.

A. oklahoma joe's - great meat/sauce and they get bonus points for the best fries and onion rings
B. jack stack - just all around good
C. gates - good meat, bonus points for the sauce and the" Hi may I help you?!"

Joe's Pizza on Sunset Strip!

I guess to each their own,
My favorite new york slice in LA is Joe's followed closely by Vito's
I went there on the day they opened and had to go back again Wednesday for another slice.
The crust is slightly crispier and the suace is a bit sweeter than Vito's.

I can't get enough.

Although I don't feel you can go wrong with either of the two.

Pizza with Egg, Ham, Bacon, Sausage, or Chorizo w/ Egg

Pizza Land on Laurel Canyon also makes those. Ive never tried them though, something about an egg on my pizza just doesn't sound quite right. But I've seen quite a few people order them.

Best Sushi in Santa Monica???

I would have to second Mori Sushi,
Some of the best in LA.
It's not cheap, but it's value is reasonable for what you are served.

Chaya Brasserie [Review + Pictures] - Beverly Hills

Great Review -

I like Chaya too, Its not the most amazing but a good solid restaurant. As soon as I started reading I was like, weird, I was there the other night and there were two bentley's parked out front. Then I looked through your pics.. and sure enough the second pic has my back in the bottom left corner... We started with the tuna tartare as well, and had one of the sashimi's I forgot which. The tartare wasnt anything amazing but solid none the less but the sashimi was excellent. I had the short ribs with the fontina mashed potatoes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well but we were stuffed by the end and skipped the desserts. Cocktails were great too, I had a mojito martini.

Again, solid restaurant in a typically over hyped area.

Birthday dinner for 7 in West Hollywood

We are celebrating two birthday's in my family, someone is turning 30 and someone else 35.

We are near la cienega and beverly and would like to stay sort of close.

We have a party of 7 and a baby.

Most of us like great food and I am having difficulty coming up with a place.

We've recently done Chaya, Bazaar, so those are out.

I was thinking Hatfields but when I called to make a reservation they said they dont have high chairs, so it seems like thats out too.

We like to keep the food to about 40 or less a person before drinks.

Would love any recommendations in the area.

Thanks.

BBQ Recs

My recommendation for BBQ would definitely be Kansas City BBQ company in north hollywood.

I aws also unimpressed with Mr Cecils and Baby blues.
Boneyard is pretty good but overpriced.
