Best Fish in town is being sold at Surf and Turf in the plaza between Hwy2, Old Cheney and 56th.

Lincoln NE - Need dining recommendations
Kitchen Imp is pretty much spot on - especially the comment on Italian. If I am downtown for dinner I usually go to the Dish. Another higher end (at least for Lincoln) dinner place is the Country Club of Lincoln. Loren from Venue is now cooking there. It is private though so you have to be a member or with one and the atmosphere isn't for everyone. I'll add that my current favorite lunch spot dowtown is Sultan's Kite. Their fallafel with green chutney sauce is to die for and it is a very casual friendly spot.
Narrowing down my choices for one week vacation in Maui
Sea House is a great spot for breakfast especially when staying at Napili Kai, like we do, or the Ritz, like Bill H does. I agree with manomin though that it isn't worth a trip up from Wailea. I've yet to make it up to Plantation House for breakfast.

Maui at Christmas
It is indeed a zoo just before Christmas. Some of the grocery stores will run out of some of the higher end stuff and then it won't get restocked until after Christmas or even New Years. But as long as you are just half-way flexible you will be fine.

Indeed. If one goes by mailing address Lahaina stretches up the coast for quite a bit.

Almost all of the resorts and restaraunts, if not all, have some elaborate Christmas buffett or are closed. We usually just go up to the Napili Market (open Christmas Day) and pick us some roast chicken.

My dinner at Bread & Cup last night was far from stellar. The appetizer (Ploughman's Platter) was great with wonderful salami, as was the garlic green bean side. But for a main I had the flank steak. I ordered it rare. It came at best medium and was luke warm. I am confident it had been cooked long before in the day.

I can tell you one place where it certainly isn't. On a recent trip I had the fish tacos at 24/7 at the Hilton Waikiki. They were not like any fish taco I had before and not in a good way. If it hadn't been 10 at night and I was just off a mainland flight I would have sent them back. They werre served rolled like a buritto and with an extremely heavy sauce. I have had reasonable food there before but not this time and the waiter recommended them to boot.
Cheaper eats near Wailea
Excellent suggestions. The sandwiches at the Waterfront Deli are quite good. To the OP, do remember that cheap on Maui is a relative term - especially down Wailea.

Lincoln, NE takeout
Right about Lincoln being spread out. The only thing that keeps me from going to Super Taco even more is that it is in the NE part of town. If the OP is staying by I-80 it would be a great choice.

Lots of possibilities depending on what part of town, price point, and cuisine. Sultan's Kite at 13th and O downtown might be a good start though. I am particularly fond of their falafel with green curry sauce. Another possibility would be the Oven for Indian.
last dinner in or near OGG (maui)
The food at OGG got a lot better recently with the addition of a small food court with a California Pizza Kitchen - yes that is how bad it was.We typically do CPK for a mainland flight. If you want something better go off-site. Paia Fishmarket is a great suggestion.

Maui Restaurants
About right at 25 feet. I still remember the first time when I visited Napili Kai Beach Resort (then called Napili Kai Beach Club). We had just flown from the mainland and it was late at night. When I saw the first Kapalua Resort sign on the right I said to my wife, who grew up in Paia by Mama's, "We must have gone too far". She told me no, Napili Kai was just up on the left.

Fair enough. Mushroom is spot on in her/his assessments. I am not a fan of Green Gateau but many are, similar fan base as Ideal Grocery (I prefer Leon's). Have never understood Bison Witches. The sandwiches are large and good but nothing special.
Another place I have become a fan of lately is Kinja. It is at 70th and Pioneers and is the best Japanese in town.

Venue has a new chef but I haven't been. The old Venue chef is now at Lincoln Country Club and doing a great job. I also have become a fan of Blue Orchid of late. Their panang salmon is quite tasty.

Omaha's Best 1 night
I have eaten alone at BR and found it comfortable (I am male however). I have also seen people eat at the bar.
Is opakapaka or ono ever supposed to be served rare?
Agreed on the waiter asking. I haven't had the best of luck with service at Merriman's. Indeed I decided to complain once about tuna being overdone there. It clearly had sat plated under a heat lamp too long.
Had some wonderful opakapaka sashimi at Sansei-Kapalua over the holidays.

Star is now called Times. I second the Costco and Napili Market recommendations. Am in Napili now and will be making a Market run tonight.
Sansei Restaurant Favorite Menu items
I frequent the Kapalua location and am fond of hamachi collar, caterpillar roll, sea urchin and apple tart. YMMV
