Walking in, and looking around is as far as I've gone though.

Best Potato TAcos-SD?
I finally caught the Throwdown over the weekend...
Anyone know where I can try a puffy taco in SD?
Red Velvet Cake/Cupcakes in San Diego?
Just want to share my Red Velvet comparison over the weekend...
Tender Greens in Liberty Station has huge Red Velvet Cupcakes. The icing is creamy and light. The cupcakes have more of a cocoa flavor and are moist.
Burger Lounge's Red Velvet cupcake is a bright red, with a thick layer of icing that looks an inch high. The red velvet here has a sweet cherry taste. It also seems much drier than Tender Greens. Some edges of the cupcake topped were burnt.
I kept both in the fridge overnight. The next day, Tender Green's cupcake was still moist and the icing still creamy. Burger Lounge's cupcake had become brittle and dry, and the icing hardened. The way I scrapped the icing off the cupcake reminded of a stick of butter right out of the fridge.
Comparing the two side by side, Tender Green's cupcake was a deep red, and Burger Lounge's cupcake was so bright!

Kensington Cafe SD
http://www.kensingtoncafesd.com/
Kensington Coffee and Tea used a be my good to place for ice tea. It was a place for me to use wihi, read, and write and do whatever. It has been around forever and may have changed owners over time. I watched the renovation take place over the past month or so, and now the *new* Kensington Cafe is open. Just walking in my first time since its renovation, I missed the old coffee and tea place. The art work of the friendly, autistic man has been taken down. Uniform sets of tables and chairs have replaced the homey wicker chairs and mismatched tables. And i doubt the new cafe will continue with the open mic nights. A 13 year old kid from the neighborhood came in one night and covered Sting and John Mayer not like no other!
My first visit, I walked in and out and the whole experience lasted 3 seconds. The second time I was there a lot longer because my food took a while to be prepared...
Before work, I stopped by and had a wheat Euro bagel (tomato, pesto, cream cheese),side of breakfast potatoes, iced green tea, americano to go.
The cafe was not busy, and still took 15-20 mins to prepare. WIth plenty of time to read and reread the menu, I see they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, beer and wine. Everything is salads, and sandwiches mostly. For dessert they make smores tableside (exciting).
My bagel was very good, even with the simple ingredients. The bagel was panini pressed with the grill marks to prove it. Top and bottom of the bagel had an even spread of pesto, the tomato was sliced thin, and the cream cheese was nice and creamy. My breakfast pototoes, while some crispy pieces burnt black, had a nice flavor. The iced green tea had was refreshing and a crisp mint flavor. The Americano was good. The cup lasted all day, and tasted even better cold.
Ken Coffee and Tea, I'll miss you.
Ken cafe, I might not be going often, but you are not bad. ;)

Donut shops in San Diego
I know, I know... I thought it was a lil strange...but then again how refreshing.. wake up to do something you love (make donuts) whenever you feel like, and that makes your living.
Anyhow, I think 9 am or 10 am would be a safe time to make it there?
If you take the Coronado bridge to the silver strand, take the the strand into imperial beach, and Stardust will be on your left hand side. I believe it's a couple blocks from where the silver strand ends and becomes imperial beach.
If you take 5s exit palm ave to the right, keep straight towards the strand, and Stardust will be on your right hand side.

Donut shops in San Diego
Stardust Donut Shop really has some tasty donuts..
Apparently the owners open up at whatever time they can get up in the morning, and stay open until the last donut is sold.. so I've only had them when other people have bought them and shared with me.
Anyone try these, and know how they compare to the world famous Mary's donuts?

Hmm. Safeway "Eating Right"???
I read the label for my frozen food entree, and I found partially hydrogenated oil towards the end of the list. The entrees taste good, and are much better than any other lowfat frozen entree that I've tried.

Roy's on Harbor Drive (San Diego)?
Roy's at the Marriott on Harbor Drive in downtown is right on the edge of the water. I took a walk from seaport village all the way down to the convention center, and past by Roy's on the way. On the water right in front of Roy's is where a lot of boats are docked. From Roy's, there won't be much of a view at night.
