Auto-milk frother like the Krups auto-cappuccino accessory

I love the ease (and foam) of the automatic frother on my Krups pump espresso machine, but my machine has died (again--Krups doesn't build 'em to last). Is there anything similar out there that people love that I might be missing? The advantage to Krups (like the XP 5280) is that it's only about $200. What I don't want is a steam wand I have to stand there and manipulate, then clean.

Worth eating at a Bulls game?

Glad to know the food is better there--but it doesn't work for a game with kids who want to be down by the field, ready to catch a ball, and that's always my situation. Carolina Brewery has a stand, which wouldn't be bad--but it advertises Johnsonville brats and sausage--which I could just buy at BJs, so it doesn't seem too exciting--but may be a best bet.

Worth eating at a Bulls game?

I'm missing some of the old food stands at Bulls games; last night tried a Carolina Q-dog from the Pit that was pitiful--the barbecue and hot dog were as cold as the slaw, which was also tasteless ('cue was OK but nothing amazing). Before I waste any more money--any suggestions of what's worth eating there?

Yuri for sushi in Cary NC

I'm curious to know what others on this board think of Yuri (in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's). We went there with a large group of family--some older, some kids--none of whom is anything close to a sushi expert. I was really pleased with all of it--great food, really friendly service, especially solicitous (but not annoyingly so) of the older folks in the group. About the only misstep I noted was that a few of the veggies in my tempura (part of a huge bento box with sushi) were just a bit underdone. Really liked my nigiri.

Fast Soup Base for Ramen

I'd tried making this before; I agree, I wasn't crazy about it, even with a lot of his suggested add-ins. Maybe I need to play with it some more. Or maybe it just needs MSG? Not that I'm going there -- but that's probably what my taste buds are missing.

Fast Soup Base for Ramen

Thanks! I don't know why it hasn't occurred to me before to mix dashi and chicken stock -- maybe that plus the miso will get me closer -- miso has helped my previous attempts, but they still didn't quite get me there.

Fast Soup Base for Ramen

My culinary shame is a love of Top Ramen, but I never make it anymore because I just can't abide what's in that packet of powder, and I hate how dehydrated the soup makes me feel. Attempts to make my own version (an instant base, not a regular stock) have always failed. Any suggestions?

NC barbecue on gas cooker

Don't kill me with messages about how this must be done over wood; I know, I know ... but I managed to get stuck with cooking Boston butts for about 100 people on a gas cooker that I've never used (or even seen) this weekend, and I'm unclear about one thing. There's no water pan in it; do I need to put all the meat over drip pans and fill them with water? I have my Eastern sauce, my hickory chunks, and a bunch of beer for the men who'll babysit the cooker; I just can't figure out if I need this too. I'm open to any advice -- I wholeheartedly agree with the wood-only snobbery, but it's left me unable to find much advice about what to do when stuck with gas.

Alivia's in Durham: Never again

My husband surprised me with a dinner at Alivia's, as he'd been given a gift certificate to it and we had a sudden child-free evening. Grim. Menu was depressing, table was sticky, waitress was barely competent, and food was sad (I never did figure out what those strings of vegetable-like matter were in the tomato soup). We saw wine bottles, so asked for a wine list. Well, the waitress said, they had no list, but well, they had a house chardonnay, and some riesling, but they change a lot, so it wasn't worth memorizing what the name was...

I ordered a sangria without carefully reading the ingredients; I think it was the first sangria I ever refused to drink -- cough-syrup-flavored Kool-Aid was my best guess. Thank heavens we didn't spend our own money there!

Calabash when Seafood Hut is closed?

Thanks -- I saw the other recommendations for it on other posts, but we'd been once some years ago and weren't impressed. Maybe it was an off day, since it does seem to get rave reviews. I haven't seen anything else in Calabash mentioned, so I'm guessing this will be our best choice -- though I'd love to know if any other places there are worthwhile.

Calabash when Seafood Hut is closed?

We're headed to the beach tomorrow and planned our standard stop at the Seafood Hut in Calabash, when I remembered they're closed on Mondays. Does anything else in Calabash match up to its food?
