I havent been in a few years (although I did love it) but a lot on this board rave about Scales and Shells for seafood.
I am not sure if you are planning on a nice brunch but we really love going to Castle Hill for it rather than for dinner

we could not believe it, we were treated very poorly. when I emailed and complained to the owner did not even ask any specifics about the waitress, meaning they had no intention of doing anything-it was a real bummer. I think its a little expensive for what you get and would rather spend my money in a resturant where I am treated well!

Local 121 I have found that the service is also very hit or miss. One night our group of 6 almost left as the waitress was so rude we couldnt beleive it. she actually threw our menus down. management could have cared less when we complained

mmm, is 15 Point Rd now closed? It looked dark last time we drove bu, could be why they are packing it in at Scampi. My husband gave it a third try and again was dissappointed. No more chances from us!

I think you can still get them at some italian bakeries?? I know when I got married my mom insisted on bowls of them on the dessert table and we bought them at Lucibellos in New Haven

My husband and I both grew up outside of New Haven, we were raised on Pepes, Modern, Bobby and Dees...we have lived in RI for almost 10 years and have never found pizza we like that comes anywhere near close to home. We live in Portsmouth and usually end up orderingCarmelas and complaining that if we want good pizza we have to drive to CT...does anyone know of anything close to New Haven around here????????

so I gave Scampi a second chance on advice of someone on this string. sat at the bar, and the customer service is much much improved but the food was HORRIBLE again. Ordered the camlamari, not only was it not really cooked, it had mounds and mounds of uncooked garlic on it. felt so gross we each got a cup of clam chowder to get rid of the raw garlic taste, which was ok but not even really warm, which chowder should be served hot or whats the point???? Will not be going back. too bad since its in our neigborhood :(

Please do not go to Scampi's. We went a few weeks ago and it was the WORST experience I have had. Horrible service, inedible food and so many tables crammed into one room I spent the whole night being banged into by waiters...I think its an insult to older people to assume they have a higher tolerance for sub pare dining
Good Eats Around Portsmouth, R.I.?
Just had to comment on Fieldstones. My husband and I go there all the time. We have been waiting for a decent place to open up in portsmouth forever. Its a great place for a beer and a burger. nice staff, cozy atmpsohere, good food. I really cant complain...apparently neither can any other locals, the place is always packed!

We really like Chelseas for breakfast. Its in Middletown, has a really hometown sort of vibe. (its one Aquidneck Ave) I would second the post about Tuckers...try their Thai nachos if you go!

as someone who has lived in jamestown for quite a bit of time i have to disagree with the previous posts-oyster bar and chopmist charlies are awful-the service is bad and i always feel as though both places are dirty. the menus havent been updated in years....tricias is fun to go to-the food is ok, but again, horrible service. i loved simpatico-great service, beautiful and good food, if not a bit overpriced.
and i must agree, eveylns is great-if you are making the drive there, might as well go to grays ice cream afterwards :)
