Consciouness Blossoms in Palm Harbor is amazing! Also, Ella's American Folk Art Cafe in Seminole Heights in Tampa has wonderful atmosphere, food and service and caters to vegetarian & meat eaters. Bern's offers great options for a vegetarian: Hello truffle mac & cheese and goat cheese ravioli!

Where are the good bagels in Tampa?
Clearwater Bagels is the best. Their hours are limited and they often run out of things quickly. A salt bagel with their chive cream cheese is delish.

JJ Gandy's Pies is in Palm Harbor, which isn't so convenient but their pies are wonderful! Their Pumpkin Chiffon pie is great for Thanksgiving. www.jjgandys.com/

Saturday Lunch Tampa area - Help!
Restaurant BT is wonderful. I had a great lunch experience there recently. Pane Rustica on Macdill is also fantastic for artisanal flatbread pizza and gourmet sandwiches and I think they are open Saturdays for lunch. Byblos, also on Macdill may be open for lunch then as well. I haven't been there but they have a web site with a menu listing and serve Middle Eastern fare.

There is also Bo's ice cream in Tampa. It was good but not worth going out of the way for it. My fave is SunniBunni Frozen yogurt.
(Strachan's in Dunedin & Palm Harbor are great too as far as the Tampa Bay area )

Bern's is an incredible value IMHO. The same caliber of food, service and reputation would cost several times as much in a bigger city, and be stuffier, and have a stricter dress code. Enjoy your meal there!

Roma Pizza in Ybor for great New York style pizza! Don't go for the service or ambiance, but for the pies. Also, dining at Columbia during lunch makes it a more affordable choice than dinner.

Been reading your great posts. Looking for a place for the girls to take a friend to lunch this week in Tampa. Looking the in the SoHo / downtown / Hyde Park / Bayshore Blvd. Area. A Non-chain with a little ambiance. Pane Rustica & Mise en Place are fabulous but we want to try something new. Maybe some Tapas?
Would love to try L'Eden in downtown Tampa - it is nice enough inside to take someone there for their birthday?

Where are the bagels in Tampa Bay!
Clearwater Bagels is the absoulute best! Their cream cheeses are excellent and come in many flavors and the bagels are unsurpassed. They have limited hours (I( think they close somewhere between noon and 2), so call before making a trek there.
