Bossa Nova in Malden Square?
Four of us also did the AYCE skewers Sat. Very good service and delicious food. Next time I would like to explore more of the menu.
Capon in the Boston Area?
Ha! As of 10 pm last night they now only have two left! Thanks kirs and chevrelove, this place is very cool, cant wait to try this bird!
Star Market... a chow destination?
That is good to hear. I absolutely hate the Melrose Shaws. It's a reason not to live in Melrose.
Finally! Southern Indian Vegetarian Glories Come to Boston: Biryani Park in Malden
Sorry, frankly I did not even notice you were the OP, and think it is an excellent review. I only take issue with the word "gross" which to me comes with an implication of uncleanliness. Reading your two posts together, I am sure that is not what you meant.
Finally! Southern Indian Vegetarian Glories Come to Boston: Biryani Park in Malden
I have to weigh in here. Obviously "gross" is in the eye of the beholder but although not fancy in any respect this place met my standards, with no reservation, to feed my pregnant wife, two year old, and
myself. It is great.
If there ever was a chow hound worthy place this is it, in our opinion.
Rattlesnake Roof
I've eaten here several times in the past couple of months, only for lunch, and have been pleased.
Chinese food for my non-Chinese food eating wife
Just so you know, Fuloon is considered by many to be one of the best sichuan restaurants on the east coast. Sichuan food is typically spicy, but not all of it is. All Season's Table is a nice place with varied food, but after you eat there please walk up the street, ask to speak to Dianne, explain you heard about Fuloon on chowhound and that your wife doesn't like chinese, and then order a dish of pork with bean curd and one other item Dianne recomends. Take it home and have it for leftovers if you are full. You will be back to Fuloon, I guaranty it.
Moving to Malden...?
Ditto. I am not too hot on Spice N Hot either. Given the introduction of biryani park
and that they have indian in addition to sri lanken, I doubt I will be trying it again real soon.

Biryani Park - Sri Lankan in Malden
I am having it as leftovers for lunch and it is pretty great!!!
Best places for VERY spicy food??
There is tons of very hot stuff at Fuloon in Malden, hot diced chicken being one of my favorites.
Moroccan Hospitality Restaurant in Malden
OK- so we went last night. To summarize, we are getting take out again tonight. This is an absolute chowhound find of the highest quality.
We didn't get around to pre-ordering. To Chis VR's point, this place is TINY. Our DCs were a couple minutes early, and, assuming we made reservations, they took the reservations of some other folks. We put two and two together half way through the meal. Sorry. Strongly recomend you make reservations.
To the food. The owner comes out and asks us what we would like. She gives a littany of dishes. I explain we like whatever. she instantly gets it and says "you want me to feed you?" We ask if they take credit cards and it goes from there. plate after plate after plate comes out: roasted chicken, bastille, lamb, more lamb, couscous, more chicken, more lamb, soup. We were stuffed to the gills.
I picked up the check. For six of us, going whole hog, the damage was $60+/-.
So incredibly great. This place is the definition of chowhound. I can't wait for dinner.

I am getting very excited for my dinner tonight.....
Moroccan Hospitality Restaurant in Malden
I think I am headed here saturday early evening with a small crew of adventurous eaters who know nothing about morrocan food. I am thinking I might just drop in around noon and pre order a bunch of stuff that the owner recommends. For those that have been, do you see any reason this would be a bad idea?
Moroccan Hospitality Restaurant in Malden
I've been into the Brazillian market. I got some pretty good hot sauce that I like, but I have to say it seems like a pretty odd shop for melrose. The owner was very nice. A woman was in buying some jewelry and it sounded like it wasn't the first time. Maybe they have an online presence but if they are relying on walk ins I would think they would have a tough go of it.
I wonder if this place and the new coffee tea and me are connected in any way?
Need a good FISH (not "seafood"/shellfish) restaurant NW of Boston
Moulton's in Medford is also good
Abolutely Fabulous Melrose
Just to be clear, by "a little bit of dough" I meant a really little bit of dough, certainly not enough to give me license to seriously question what is presumably a business decision. But next time we are in there I will definitely ask what the rationalle is and note that people sure are curious. I agree it is a strange.
Abolutely Fabulous Melrose
OK so if you read the above you will probably realize that we were AF devotees in their previous and much smaller location. Our experiences in the new space were mediocre at best, and after reaching out to the owner and getting no response about of concerns regarding the new spot, we basically abandoned ship notwithstanding our love of the original location and our putting up a little bit of dough to help with the new location.
But last night we decided to give it a try again. In short, it was excellent. Service was spot on, food was delicious, and all around we had a great, orderly, relaxing time. I want to test it again once or twice before I can officially recommend it again, but my instincts are that they have worked out the kinks and this will again be a great neighborhood spot. I'd be interested to know if any of the folks above have given it a try recently.

Or geez, another rather obvious option, Sushi Island???
Agave Mexican Grille in Malden -- stay away!
Fuloon and Habesha, not so much failures, but they are a lot more recent.

Some advice for next Thurs in the Gaslamp for a BOS Chowhounder?
Awsome advice everybody. I am circling the wagons now to figure out where to go based on the above, will definitely report back!
Some advice for next Thurs in the Gaslamp for a BOS Chowhounder?
In town next week on business. 8 folks for a business dinner, but it is a fairly young crowd of ambitious eaters and drinkers. We are staying at the Hard Rock, apparently for better or worse.
Did some research on here and it looks like there are less options close by than I anticipated.
1. Nabu, service sounds meh.
2. Acqua Al 2, only one review which makes me nervous, although the menu looks good.
3. Blue Point, meh.,
The high points within close vicinity of the hotel appear to be:
1. Donovan's
2. Oceanaire
I'd really rather not do a steak house because its not really "San Diego" in my mind, so I am thinking cab it to Fish Market for drinks/apps, followed by Oceanaire for dinner. That idea was recomended on this board.
Couple questions:
1. Assuming we go with my plan, the reason for Fish Market is to get the "San Diego" experience, which I would hope would basically guarantee us a seat by the water or at least with a view. On a Thursday night, is that going to be a problem for just drinks and apps for 8?
2. Any other recomendations which don't involve much more than a 10 minute cab ride? Price is not irrelevant (i.e. no $250pp omakase) but $50-$100 a person is not a huge deal.
Thanks all!

Lobster prices in Boston
Market basket in Woburn had them for $5.99 this weekend. I really like their fish, but I have been to a couple other Market Basket's and been a little nervous. My sense is a lot of people are like me and so the Woburn location does a lot of business. A couple of years ago when they were like $3.99 they were doing so much business they didn't even bother putting them in water- the guy behind the counter said they would just come in in crates and get sold in minutes, so why bother putting them in water. Deliveries all day long. People would order like 10 lobsters. We ate so much I started complaining, "oh come on, please don't tell me lobster AGAIN for dinner, why cant I have some chicken once in a while"
A Joke in Backbay
Strange- link was not there (on my computer) earlier, but it is now.... Thanks

I am totally confused, or perhaps need my second cup of coffee. How do you know which place the OP is reviewing? He does not provide a name, right???
Anyone have the scoop on new Mexican place going in where 33/Skewers/Bomboa used to be?
