I am going to Maggie Valley in 2 weeks and really want to enjoy going out to eat local style.... not KFC or chains.

I am going to Chattanooga in August with family. We are staying downtown near the river and would like to eat at some good places. Any suggestions. We are food lovers and like local and eclectic and not touristy or chain food! THANKS!!

Pinckney Cafe, FIG, The Boat House

For good vegetarian and meat options, try the Boulevard Diner in Mt. Pleasant, just across the bridge from downtown. It is a fun and funky place to go. Same owner as the Mustard Seed mentioned here. Also, Al di La is great!! FIG also has some veg options. My husband is vegetarian so we hit those spots frequently

I have to say that Tommy Condon's isn't my first choice either. Also, High Cotton is overrated as far as the locals go here. Try FIG, Mimi's Cafe for the best fried shrimp and The Boat House is quite good for seafood.

My parents live in Camden. They like the following;
1.The Old Armory Steakhouse
2. Sam Kendalls
3. Lugoff house of pizza
4. Little Midget for lunch - it has the best chili burgers and chili dogs! It is truly a hole in the wall but you can get your food and take it across the street and eat in the park.THIS IS MY FAVORITE PICK OF THE BUNCH!!
5. Hammys barbeque in Elgin which is a few miles out of town on US 1.
