Dinner in . . . . Woodbury?
If good food is what you are looking for and you are not into fancy, Las Margartia's is great. It is in the strip mall near Wallmart. Used to be an outlet mall area. Great food and good prices.
Restaurant Week - August 1-6
Fogo de Chao is offering dinner for $30 per person. Their usual charge is $47. Please note, this restaurant is not for vegetarians.
The Dakotas
Jake's in Deadwood is wonderful. It is in The Midnight Star, owned by Kevin Kostner. It is an upscale place with the best carpaccio I've ever had. It was buffalo.

The best thing your school cafeteria served
In high school, we had cookie break between 3rd and 4th periods. Instead of the usual 5 minute passing time, we had 10 minutes. The cafeteria sold homemade cookies and milk. My favorite were the peanut butter. They had chunks of peanuts in them. The butter cookies were also wonderful... real butter, no margarine!
The best thing your school cafeteria served
Our school has 4 plots in the local community garden. The students do all the planting, etc. before the school year is out. The plots are then tended by some of the teachers and the master gardener over the summer. All the produce is donated to a local food shelf.
The best thing your school cafeteria served
I'm a principal in an elementary school. I think it would be a great service learning project to involve the kids more. We already collect all food waste and it goes to a pig farm. I'm going to have to think up a way to get the kids involved a little more... at least the older ones.
Where to eat in Deadwood, SD?
We'll be in Deadwood next week. Anyone have a suggestion. We're open to casual or fine dining. We ate at Jake's (Kevin Kostner's restaurant) last visit. It was wonderful. Thanks!
Grilling Time - Fresh Brats?
The best brats around are from Ptacek's IGA in Prescott, WI. They make a variety of brats and brat patties. They are worth the drive. They also make the best beef sticks around.... especially the bloody mary sticks.
Best Steak in Chicago?
After reading this post and all the back and forth about what is or isn't a real Chicago steakhouse I was ready to add my 2 cents and say "when in Chicago, eat at a Chicago steakhouse. Then I read the original post again. GrillMaster is asking for the best steakhouse in Chicago, not the best Chicago steakhouse. I was going to say Gene & Georgetti's or Gibson's because these are Chicago steakhouse legends. However, since we are not sticking to that line, I would suggest The Palm.
Best Bakery -- not refined, not French, just good donuts
If you are willing to make the occasional drive to Hastings I would suggest a detour across the St. Croix to Prescott, WI and The Bake Shop and More. They have the best donuts I've had, anywhere... even better than Spudnuts in Galesburg, IL. They make their donuts in small batches so they are always fresh. The best are the Boston cream, filled with wonderful pastry cream (NOT whipped cream) and topped with a scrumptious dark chocolate glaze. They also have great danish, coffee cakes and breads. To find the Bake Shop and More, take Hwy 10 across the bridge into Prescott and turn right. The bakery is located on the left side of the street in the first block right across from Most Pharmacy. They are closed on Mondays.
Bar La Grassa
That sounds wonderful. We have reservations this saturday night. having a hard time deciding what to have!
Awesome Fried Chicken MSP?
If you are willing to drive a little way, The Valley Bar & Grill about 10 miles east of Prescott, WI on Hwy. 10 is the place to go for their Sunday night chicken fry. It's a real, Wisconsin bar & grill type of place. It's an all you can eat deal with a few homemade salads, including a great macaroni and tuna salad, baked beans, homemade dressing, dumplings and chicken gravy, french fries and wonderful juicy fried chicken. They even throw in all the milk you can drink for the restaurant style milk machine that sits at the end of the tiny buffet line. Check it out.. it makes for a great drive on a Sunday afternoon. BTW... the Valley also has the best Friday night fish fry around.
Bar La Grassa
I hate to sound ignorant, but... how are the eggs cooked on the soft egg and lobster bruschetta? This dish sounds wonderful, but I'm leary of the eggs. Are they like soft boiled, over easy or maybe softly scrambled?
Thanks for any info.

Fountain Brunch at Jasmine in the Bellagio LV
Has anyone been to the Fountain Brunch at Jasmine in the Bellagio? What did you think?
Sunday Brunch at Verandah Four Seasons LV
I've read that Sunday brunch at Verandah is excellent. How does it compare to the Sterling Brunch at Bally's? Is the Verandah a buffet brunch or order from the menu brunch? Any info would help us make a decision for our Sunday morning meal. THANKS!
Christmas Dinner in Vegas
Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for Christmas dinner in Vegas. We're open for anything and not too worried about the cost. Thanks!
Wynn Brunch Buffet
Just heard that Wynn is serving Champagne Brunch on Christmas morning. They didn't have the menu up yet. What do they usually serve on their champagne brunch? How does it compare to Bally's Sterling Brunch?
AJ's Vegas-Truffled Mac & Cheese YUM
We had some truly great dinners at AJ's... and you never knew who you were going to see there. Too bad it is closing.
Looking for Las Vegas Steakhouses
I would have suggested AJ's at Hard Rock for a bachelor party... however it is closed/closing. The best steak I've ever had anywhere, let alone in Vegas, was a Mario Batali's Carnevino @ Palazzo. Great steak, wonderful sides and a wine list for all tastes and budgets.
Las Vegas...Your Favs for 3 Days Only for First Timer
If you like steak, I'd suggest CarneVino at Palazzo. Italian, Rao's at Caesars, Mexican, either Mesa Grill @ Caesars or Pink Taco @ Hard Rock.
Your recommendations for Greek in Vegas
We're headed to Vegas at Christmas at would like to find a good Greek restaurant. Do you have a recommendation?
What is Chicago's Signature Dish?
What about steak... back of the yards, chicago stockyards... great town for steak. I'm sure there are plenty of posts as to which steakhouse takes top honors in Chicago.
After steak, I'd have to agree with others about Italian Beef...at Al's or Johnny's (north ave. in River Forest). Just be careful when you order at Johnny's. If you don't do it right, they just might say "no beef for you!"
Breakfast Tuesday morning around Lombard/Oak Brook
I'm staying at the Westin in Lombard and would love recommendations for breakfast tomorrow morning (Tuesday) in the general area.
Thanks!
What to have at Rosemary's in Vegas?
We have reservations for dinner at Rosemary's in Vegas this Monday. We've not been and are really looking forward to our first visit. What are your favorites? Do they have specials in addition to the online menu? Are the wines suggested with the menu items available by the glass?
Thanks for your suggestions!

Chinese New Year Celebrations in Vegas 2/18-2/22
We will be in Las Vegas 2/18 through 2/23 and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any special celebrations for Chinese New Year. I heard about the Dim Sum buffet at Wynn. Unfortunately it ends on 2/17. Thanks in advance for your response.
(Las Vegas)"Junk Burger" recommendations
Last trip we tried both In & Out Burger and FatBurger. Didn't really like FatBurger at all, but In & Out was awesome... double double rocks. Also great fries. Will hit it again later this month when we are in LV again.
CarneVino?
Just made reservations for our trip the week of 2/18. Since we both love steak, pasta and wine, this seemed like a great choice.
