Dunkin Donuts's Angus Steak & Egg Sandwich

so back to the original post . . . i tried the dd steak and egg sandwich. oh it was really nasty. the meat was so greasy i couldn't eat it. and i'm not a healthy eating person by any stretch. but i did throw it away. it was horrible. however, i do confess to loving the the egg, cheese and sausage breakfast wrap. a lot lol

Pregnant co-worker nice birthday dinner in Schaumburg

I'm very partial to Season 52 in Schaumburg. They have a lovely, seasonally inspired menu, the prices are decent, and the service has always been outstanding. And it's very pretty inside.

Tried Five Guys--What's the big deal?? [moved from Las Vegas]

I completely agree. Well, maybe not that five guys sucks, but I wouldn't go back. Meat was fine, bun was okay, smelled heavily of fried food. Just all okay. But Smashburger truly is one heck of a great establishment, great great great food. I will drive the 45 mins for a Smashburger before i would go to five guys. Also, Meatheads is a great burger.

Mitsuwa Tuna Cutting

Anyone have any idea what happened to the Giant Bluefin Cutting Demonstration? Last year it was November 14 & 15. It doesn't appear on their website for this year in Chicago, only in CA.
Thanks!

Woo Lae Oak, Rolling Meadows

We went to Woo Lae Oak, and it was delightful. We are definitely used to the whole in the wall places in little Korea, which are usually wonderful. Woo Lae was terrific. The staff is 100% Korean, and very sweet people, at the least the ones we dealt with. Food was great, service was great, and the atmosphere was great. We just couldn't see taking our virgin Korean food eaters to San Soo Gap San, our personal favorite or New Seoul BBQ another favorite. While the food is always great, service?? just never know ;-) Highly recommend Woo Lae for a business dinner!

Woo Lae Oak, Rolling Meadows

We are being taken out for dinner by out of towners who know we love Korean restaurants and have never been. However, we don't want to take the drive to the city due to proximity of all..we thought of going to Woo Lae, but see very mixed reports, from horrid to wonderful. And most based on the service. We are looking for tabletop cooking, and also thought of Koreana and Solliphana. I would like to keep the drive back to Lake in the Hills at a minimum as I just got back in town from business travel for te last 4 days ;-)

El Molcajete, Geneva, IL

There's a new Mexican joint that just opened in Geneva a few weeks ago where RJ's Deli was. We went for lunch today, and were really impressed, especially since it's brand new. It's not your average taco, tostada, chimichanga place. More like Bien Trucha, which we loved, but it's just too small when you have a 6 month old, 2 year old and 11 year old. This is a bigger place with food that's right up there with Bien Trucha, IMO.

We went for lunch today. They have asada and al pastor tacos, and then there's 7 different tacos, and 7 tortas.

I had the Campechanos tacos - homemade chorizo and marinated carne asada with cebollitas de cambray (onions), melted chihuahua cheese and morita salsa. This comes with a cup of drunken beans with bacon and sausage mixed in. Delicious. My husband and son in law had El Molcajete Sincronesadas which is marinated pork in chile ancho achiote between flour torillas, melted cheese with roasted pineapple pico and spicy salsa -served like a kicked up, big quesadilla.

Next time, which will be soon, I'm going to try the shrimp tacos with grilled onions in a tangui orange-chipotle sauce and fresh jicama-pico served with a cup of their house special chochoyette soup.

And they have a kids menu And the service was excellent!!

Mothers day NW suburbs?

Any thoughts on someplace for Brunch, doesn't have to be buffet, that's different in the NW suburbs? I've already searched open table, metro mix etc and all I can come up with is Le Titi de Paris as my mother loves the service etc...

Alef Sausage & Deli?

My husband and I love love love experiencing the different ethnic opportunities in the Chicagoland area, from little Korea to Argyle for Vietnamese. That being said, I do appreciate some english being spoken so we can communicate a little. We have a Polish deli down the street way out in the burbs (Lake in the Hills) where no one speaks a word of English, and they're not very friendly. As a result, we will never go back. I'm in the foodservice business and am all about supporting the independents, but when the shopping/dining experience becomes uncomfortable, it's just not worth it. Not that our business will make or break anyone, but it's a shame none the less.

Trader Joe's brand - The Good, the Bad - What have you enjoyed? tossed? bought more of? thought a bargain?

Tried the large mushroom ravioli with beef in broth. It's frozen. You put the package in the microwave for 5 mins and it's pretty damn tasty!!! Big ravioli's with chunks of chuck in a delicious sauce!!

I have enough Kimchi for all my friends, now what?

My next door neighbors are from Korea and they bring over a 5 gallon ( maybe more) jar of home made kimchee rather frequently. We never even get half way through it! Please, any ideas/recipes of what to do to use it up would be greatly appreciated!!!

Costco 'samples' - why?

I can't even tell you how many products I have purchased there because of sampling there. Or how many items that were sampled are in other peoples carts. I think it's a stroke of genius on their part.

Flamingo's Seafood in Mount Prospect

We went there yesterday. It was very good. There are 6 of them, I believe, including one in Georgia. The waiter was fabulous, Daniel. He came over and made recommendation and explained the different items. The menu needs some help, or so this gringo thinks. There really isn't much explanation of what things are. It is very similiar to Flamingo's in that it's seafood, all seafood I might add. My 80 yr old mother and I split the fried red snapper (Daniels rec) which was to die for. The fish was bigger than I've ever seen and cooked perfectly. My husband had the shrimp and octopus cocktail. It had the option of hot or cold which I had never seen before. When it arrived it made sense, it was almost soup-like and delicious! As soon as you sit down, they bring a harbanero salso, some fried whole tortillas and a plate with a blue marlin ceviche tostada for each person. It was wonderful! I was asking the waiter why they had opened in Mt. Prospect (and really wondering what made them think they could make it if Flamingo's couldn't) and he replied that a lot of people in that area traveled to the south side to eat at their other restaurants...The prices are very much like Flamingos but the food was well worth it. The fried snapper was $16 and I believe the cocktail was $12. Very little changes inside, the most noticible was the booths are gone, replaced with long tables seating 8 I think. The food was creative and well executed and we will be back!!

Very tired question - Thanksgiving in the NW burbs?

We always have thanksgiving at home. This year we have the 80 yr old dad put in a nursing home yesterday, the pregnant daughter due the week after Thanksgiving. So I'd like to take the also 80 yr old mom and do something special, but not horrifyingly expensive. I looked at Open Table, Metromix etc. but would like any thoughts based on experiences. So..Any thoughts? ....thanks in advance!!
