Recs for my 35th birthday lunch or dinner

Yes, ideally but there is room for flexibility with budget. I live in the east 20's but would be willing to travel crosstown or downtown. Not to keen on upper west or east side. In terms of atmosphere we are open, but maybe nothing to loud.

Recs for my 35th birthday lunch or dinner

I'm turning 35 next month and my family would like to take me out for a nicer then the daily norm lunch or dinner. We will be 4 adults (one who's allergic to fish, so it can't be all seafood). We are open to any type of cuisine. Cost per person around $50 (we are not big drinkers so maybe 3 out of 4 of us will have 1 drink)

PLEASE HELP

Mother's Day Dinner near Lincoln Center

We are taking my mom to see South Pacific at Lincoln Center for Mother's Day. We would like to go out to dinner (around 6pm) in the area. We are open to any type of cuisine with the exception of Sushi. Looking to spend mid to a little higher price for dinner.

Any help would be great!!!! Thank you.

Merkato 55 Brunch Experience

Hi Chowhounders! My friends and I are interested in attending the weekend party (brunch) at Merkato 55. If you have been there for brunch it would be great to get your thoughts and also find out what time you suggest we make the reservation for.

Winebar-ish place for a first date

There is a place called "Wine Bar" on 2nd ave between 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th street. It's much bigger then some the places listed below and they serve food. There is also the bowery wine bar that I think on 1st or Houston. Also, much a decent sized space.

Noodles on 28 jacked up their prices. Any recs for another chinese restaurant in Gramercy

I've been ordering for Noodles on 28 for years, but they recently increased their prices by what I consider a significant amount. I really can't bring myself to pay almost $14 for chicken and broccoli. I was thinking about trying Chef 28. Any thoughts?

Any additional recommendations for chinese restaurants in the Gramercy Area (I live on Lex and 26th) would be really appreciated. Thank you!!!!

good chicken pot pie

The chicken pot pie at Molly's is the traditional chicken pot pie and it's excellent.

Baoguette, curry hill

I live down the street from Baoguette and they are alot busier then when the first opened. It's definitely no longer a secret.

Great fondue??

The Hill is fun, but it's really a sport bar atmosphere. If you are looking for something romantic I wouldn't sugest it.

Fried Chicken around Union Square?

I'm pretty sure Chat and Chew has Fried Chicken on their menu. They are at 15th between Union Square and 5th ave.

trendy places between 14-33rd, park-7th?

http://www.ililinyc.com/hoursinfo.html

I've been here a few times. They have a large lounge area where you can have drinks before of after dinner and the food is excellent.

good sushi in fun restaurant

I know there are mixed feelings on Haru, but I've always like the one on Park and 18th. The sushi is good and reasonable in price and the cocktails are delicious. The space is large and there is always a fun vibe.

Good takeout near Madison Square Park?

The Haru location on Park and 18th delivers to this area. There is also a good neighborhood sushi place called Nomada 33 on 33rd between Lexington and 3rd (right across from 2nd ave Deli).

Romantic Dinner in E. Village, Gramercy or Chelsea

My boyfriend is moving to LA for a few months for his job. I want to take him out to a romantic dinner before he leaves. I'm looking for a romantic, but not super fancy spot.

We aren't picky eaters, so I'm open to any type of food (with the exception of Indian). I would prefer not to spend more then $150 with drinks. Please describe the ambiance and type of food.

Thank you!

NYC Visit - Planned Food

I agree with Kathryn. Skip Max Brenners unless you just want to stop in for a hot chocolate to go while you're walking around.

I'm a big fan of Rice and Riches. The rice pudding is great and if you are in the mood for chocolate go for their Rocky Road flavor. It's pefect for chocolate lovers. They let you sample flavors so try a few before you decide which ones you want. The line is long, but it moves quickly. I love holiday time in NY. Have fun!!!

Best Sports Bars in Manhattan

I think you mean "The Hill" on 3rd and 29th or 30th. It's in the old Dip location. I was there a few weeks ago for Sunday football. The crowd was good and they do serve food. I didn't eat there, but it looked like good standard bar food.

Looking for a restaurant that serves up Turkey and Mashed Potatoes - Any suggestions?

Cafeteria has a cool vibe. Chat & Chew is fun, but a bit retro. I would go with Cafeteria.

New Hood - 23rd and Lex

There is a Garden of Eden on 23rd between 7th and 8th. I usually walk there and then take the cross town bus on 23rd home. The walk isn't as bad as it seems since 5th and Broadway cross on 23rd and the crosstown bus comes by often.

Also, I noticed no one mentioned Mexico Lindo on 26th and 2nd. There have been mixed reviews here, but I think it's a great neighborhood place. Other than that I agree with all the recs.

Fun, hip sushi place

The place on 3rd ave between 27th and 28th is called Amber. It looks hip, but it just opened and I'm not sure how the food is. I think there is another Amber uptown. Anyone tried it yet?

Lunch at Sushi Yasuda-Reservation Question

I work right by Sushi Yasuda and I was thinking about treating myself to lunch there. Would you recommend I make a reservation or can I just walk in and sit at the sushi bar? Most likely I would I be going alone.

Kellari's Parea Greek Bistro, Flatiron

I had a similar experience to MercerChow's. We took my mom there for Mother's Day. The food was great, but the service was spotty. Our waitress said she would bring over the wine list and when we said we didn't need it she just assumed we didn't want to order drinks which was not the case and therefore did not ask for our drink order. The service was fine during our entree portion of the meal, but after they took our plates and brought us the desert menu they basically forgot about us which is difficult considering we were sitting at a middle table on the floor. We had to call someone over to take our desert order and then it took so long to actually get desert that I asked for them to bring us the check when they did finally bring over our desert.

The food was excellent, so I want to give it one more try. I'm hoping they work out the kinks.

My first burger at Molly's

I love the burger at Molly's. Next time you go I recommend getting a side of blue cheese dressing for dipping. They make their own and it's amazing!

Murray's Bagels/Cream Cheese alternate

I'm a fan of Pick A Bagel on 3rd ave between 22nd and 23rd. It's organized chaos on weekends, but efficient.

Help! My boss asked for dinner recs near The Barclay Hotel on East 48th

My boss asked me for dinner recommendations near The Barclay Hotel on East 48th. He has friends coming into town and looking for a dinner spot for this Friday. He doesn't want to recommend anything in Grand Central and it shouldn't cost the earth (as his friend puts it), but not low end either. Any suggestions?
