Little italy/Chinatown

We are headed to NYC for the week before Christmas with our 9 y.o. son. While he likes good food like his parents we would also like to show him sights like Chinatown and Little Italy. Does anyone have a restaurant recommendation that is quality in those neighborhoods? We are foodies and will be dining at some better restaurants (Laonda Verde and such) during our visit. Thanks!!

I have to deliver dinner

I want to deliver a home cooked meal to my sister-in-law who had a hysterectomy this week. There are 2 kids and my brother too so I need to satisfy all. Any suggestions for the picky family? Low fat and healthy would be good. Thanks for your help!

Copper River Salmon

Does anyone have any insight why QFC is charging only $24.99/lb for the CR King while Whole Foods: $37.99; Central Market:$34.99: Metropolitan Market : $34.99?

I sure wouldn't mind saving $10/lb if it's the real thing!

Creme Brulee

I actually made the boxes without a mold. Melted the chocolate, spread it out on a wax paper covered cookie sheet, cooled it, cut the bottom and side pieces then "glued" them together with more melted chocolate. It was not that hard just time consuming.

Creme Brulee

It was fantastic! I did carmelize the top with the small torch just not the whole way to the edges. Here's a pic. Thanks for all your help

Creme Brulee

Thanks for the recipe it's perfect. Story is this method (stove top) you can cool enough to scoop into the boxes and not melt them before chilling.

Creme Brulee

I'll use a small hand held torch and just be careful not to get too close to the edges.

Pot Roast

Hello- the age old debate between husband and wife. We have a 5# chuck pot roast - it is BIG. We are having the boss's family over for dinner and need a perfect roast. Should we roast it whole - for how long or cut it in half and for how long? Thanks in advance for your help!

pot roast

So, the age old question? Debate between husband and wife?

We have a 5 # chuck pot roast and need to prepare it for the husbands boss tomorrow night. The cut of beef we have says chuck roast it looks like a boneless rib roast -it is BIG.
Our debate is wether to roast it whole (and for how long) or to cut it in half and roast it "normal". Any help would be very appreciated
thanks!

Private Dining Rooms in SEA

My husband and I celebrate Valentine's Day every year with a small group of friends (10 of us in all) and like to use private dining rooms. We have been to Bis on Main (yummy), El Gaucho and Palace Kitchen and are looking for somewhere new, fun and great food for this year. BTW, we don't go out on the 14th to open up possibilities. I have searched but cannot find a good source to identify them. Any ideas???
