Suggested time of arrival at Green Goddess
Thanks. Really looking forward to eating there. Maybe will just stop on way from airport. We usually just wing it the first night in town.
Suggested time of arrival at Green Goddess
Will be arriving in NOLA on a Thursday mid afternoon. Planning for Green Goddess as first dinner of this trip. What is the suggested time of arrival for party of 2? I was thinking of stopping there before checking into hotel to get names on dinner list. Good idea? Not necessary? Also, would love to hear favorite foods to order!
Commander's Palace or Gautreaus?
After reading your reply and previous postings, think I'll be making reservations at CP. Thanks!
Commander's Palace or Gautreaus?
Planning food experience for Nola, in February- post Mardi Gras. Will be in town Thurs - Sunday. Hope to get into Green Goddess Thurs evening as soon as plane touches down. Brigsten's is on wishlist for Friday. Not sure about Saturday dinner. Contemplating CP, it's been several years and visits to NOLA that we have dined at CP, or should we try Gautreaus?
Charlottesville sandwich takeout. Post camp dinner.
Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions. Just got back from Charlottesville. What a great city, university and dining options! Actually made it to several of your suggestions- Bodo's Bagels, Little John's, Food of All Nations, and Baja Beans (great marg's!!!). Boys were happy and full (for a while anyway!). Moms happy (esp after the marg's) when the boys are happy!

Thanks! Can't wait to try Phantom Ranch! And, I love bread pudding- of course! Hate to miss the homemade cheese at Pizzeria Rustica- might have to try there for lunch! I really appreciate your recommendations!

Colorado Springs rehearsal dinner alternate
Going to a wedding in Colorado Springs this week. Since I'm not invited to the rehearsal dinner (!) , looking for alternate dinner plans for myself and niece (legal drinking age) . Good food, reasonably priced. I've been to Co Springs, but niece hasn't, so a nice place with a "local feel" would be great! Or just great food that shouldn't be missed?
Scarpetta, Convivio, Alto ? Rec's for a nice Italian dinner in Manhatten in November?
A great plate of spaghetti is never boring- not to me anyway! Thanks.
Scarpetta, Convivio, Alto ? Rec's for a nice Italian dinner in Manhatten in November?
OK. You reeled me in. Spaghetti w/ tomatoes and basil , olive oil cake and a nice glass wine sounds like dinner to me! But, the carmelized fennel is going to be hard to pass up! Thanks! (The spaghetti has been mentioned in other replies as well!)

I do love duck. And, thanks for the info on the link you mentioned. I never used it before, but I'm onto it now!

Thanks! I also checked their sister rest, Etcetera Etcetera. I like their menu better. What are your thoughts on Etc Etc? I'll travel for food. It's the martini's I want close by!

Will be in for a long weekend in November. Staying in mid-Manhatten. Looking forward to a nice Italian dinner first night. A martini bar (located somewhere around 52nd to 56th streets- near Le Parker Meridien ) would also make us happy!
Agree with concierge for dinner and lunch rec's?
Thanks for your insights. It really isn't my theory that"tourist places are junk". I will be heading to CDM for my coffee and b's. Unless you have any other suggestions..? mm

Thanks for the Info! Lots of good places without enough time (or stomach space) to try them all. Have you eaten at Domilese? Any thoughts? Thanks! mm

Traveling to NO soon (not over Mardi Gras!). Really enjoyed Stella's, and Bayona on past visits. Traditionally we go to K-Paul's our first night in town. So, already made those plans. Heard great things about Brigsten's (from Chowhounds!), and made reservations there. Not sure where to dine last night in town. Called concierge, who recommended Muriel's on Jackson Sq and Dominiques, also in the quarter. Your thoughts- yes?,no? Am I confusing Dominique with Delmonico's? Don't want to go anywhere touristy. Will travel outside the qtr for food!
He also recommends RioMar and L'il Dizzy's for lunch. Sound like good creole spots. But, hate to waste any food opportunities while in NO if these aren't great (food) places.
Anxious to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
