Visitng Downtown Toronto - Recommendations

You might consider a walking snacking tour of Kensington Market if the weather is good.

About a 10 minute walk from your hotel, just north and west of Dundas and Spadina.

Pupusas, empanadas, burritos, tortillas, burgers and a couple of good coffee shops.

Perhaps end up at Caplanskys for a Toronto smoked meat sandwich or other deli offerings.

Best ESPRESSO in Toronto

I like Sam James the shots and service are great.

Bisogno on Sherbourne is also very good and he has a rotating selection of SO coffee as well as two locally roasted blends.

Lit on College St. has a great roast but I find the shots inconsistent.

Rooster on Broadview is good but not great.

Bulldog has very average shots and I also have had enough problems with the service that I no longer go there.

European Meats in Kensington has smoked hocks and other smoked meats

http://www.nossotalho.com/home.php

A great source for all things pork, last week I bought pork picnic shoulders for $0.69 per lb they had pork loins for $1.29 per pound.

Also a great source for Portuguese sausages and cheeses and bacalhau etc.

Caplansky's smoked meat sandwich for $7, both cheap and good.

Where to buy duck and quail in Toronto

Sunny Meat Market @ 327 Spadina in China town

They carry whole ducks usually a couple of varieties, they also carry duck parts, I bought legs there a few weeks ago for $4.00/lb.

They also sell quail.

They carry blood sausage and it fried up very well.

They also smoke their own bacon in house and it is very good.

Best Burger around Eaton Centre

On Temperance St. near Yonge St. they are relatively new and I have not tried them yet, but it smells good when I walk by.

English Guests

I will admit it has been a few years but as I recall they did a very good roast beef.

The space is nice and suitable for a special occasion, the service as I remember it was very good.

The link attached has a menu.

The OP mentioned that price was not an issue.
