Can Anyone Share Herald's Top 11 Picks of the Year

I'm sure many IT geeks will hate me for revealing this secret, but I'd rather not get in copyright trouble by pasting the article here...

Shake Shack opening

Confirmed, not that I have to confirm CFByrne's posts. Passed by Tuesday night and it was open.

Is anyone else getting multiple windows opening???

Nope. Your computer is probably infected, browser hijack or worse. Install and run some antivirus and antispyware software.

Palm Beach County closings 2012

Yup, Player's Sports Bar. And just in time for football season, they have a banner out announcing they are a home for NY Jets fans. Might be a great place to enjoy a Jets game with similarly minded fans.

Any recommendations for good Chinese grocery stores around Boca Raton and Boynton Beach area?

Here's a thread from 2009. The one I commented on in Boca is still open at the time of this post and clean...

Best Onion Rings?

The rings at Boca Wings and Ribs match your description. Just had some three days ago, yumm....

Seafood Market South Florida?

I'll second this recommendation. I've always been pleased with the quality at Pop's, and it is nice and close to Boca Raton.

Asian grocery stores in Boca/Delray?

Boca Oriental Market
2431 N Federal Hwy # 2431
Boca Raton, FL 33431
(561) 361-3130?

Clean, well stocked and the food I bought was fresh. Knowledgeable staff showed me 3 different options on how to make a certain dish. 1.1 miles north of Glades Road and 1.6 miles south of Yamato Rd.

Check address in Google street view, its clearly visible on the West side of Fed. Hwy.

Is anyone a member of David Rosengarten's Fresh-pressed Olive Oil club?

Not sure of the club, but I can address the similar ad pages on the two links you mention.

It looks like you found two different people who are promoting the David Rosengarten's Fresh-pressed Olive Oil club. They are probably dealers/affiliates and are using similar/identical marketing material either provided by David Rosengarten or written by one of them and copied by the other.

If you want to join the club, pick the person/site you found first and buy through them, giving them the credit for catching your eye.

Driving through the Keys

Maybe its not needed, but I just want to validate LargeLife's point about beaches in the Keys, because many people don't realize how geographically different the Keys are from the rest of Florida. Most people assume all of Florida has beautiful beaches and are shocked when they get to the Keys. The Keys are incredibly beautiful, but think of the ground as dirt and grass on top of lava rocks from your gas grill. And when you walk to the water's edge, its just lava rocks...

Instead plan to pull over at a great bar or food place you find mentioned here, order up some exotic sounding food and beverages and enjoy the view from their deck/dock/porch, and let the "manana" spirit of the Tropics melt into your bones...

fort lauderdale- inexpensive restaurants

For hamburgers, I love Jack's Old Fashioned Hamburger. The meat is ground sirloin, ground on premises, one of the nicest burgers I've had. They've been around for over 20 years, which is "forever" in Florida. They also have one in Pompano, which I frequent more as it is closer to my home. Choose your size, 1/4 pound, 1/3 pound, 1/2 pound.

D Wade's Sports Grill - Fort Lauderdale

Sorry, I forgot the level of precision required here. Let me rephrase:

The succulent poster ensconced behind translucent material that was almost transparent in its opaqueness proclaimed:

"D. Wade's Sports Grill is relocating to
16395 Biscayne Blvd,, Aventura Miami, or
You can visit our nearest and spacious
location at 1451 N. Federal Hwy., in
Ft. Lauderdale.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Note: Double commas after Blvd and capital "You" on the third line are how they are written on the poster.

D Wade's Sports Grill - Fort Lauderdale

Looks like the Boca one is off the table. Around May 1st, the banner announcing D.Wade's, came down and little available signs went up. Stopped by today, and there are big 4x8 AVAILABLE signs in the windows and a special poster announcing that "... this location is being relocated to Aventura. Or visit our Fort Lauderdale location at ..."

Delray Beach Breakfast

Here's a couple of places we eat on a regular basis where you don't have to get dressed up.

#1 - Tom Sawyer's in Boca Raton - Good home cooked meals. Good menu but also interesting Daily specials. Breakfast in a pot, .. in a skillet, home fries are great. Grits cooked right. Bakery on premise. Biscuits are fresh. Also Lunch with specials. Busiest before rush hour and all morning on weekends. 1759 NW 2nd Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33432. North of Glades Rd, about a mile.

* Cheap, old fashioned diner with good food - Sande’s Restaurant, on Federal Hwy. Nothing special, just good food. Shell shop to the south is fun to browse, but shell shop is closed on Sundays. 1717 N Federal Hwy, Delray Beach, FL 33483.

* Toojays delis are consistently good. Here's the Boca Raton locations, a cut and paste from their website. I've eaten in the past 30 days at the Glades Plaza one, the Polo Shops one was their first one.:

Polo Shops
5030 Champion Boulevard
(561) 241-5903
Directions: Northwest corner of Military Trail and Clint Moore Road (map)

Regency Court
3013 Yamato Road
(561) 997-9911
Directions: Northwest corner of Yamato Road and Jog Road (map)

Glades Plaza
2200 West Glades Road
(561) 392-4181
Directions: South of Glades Road on the east side of Butts Road (map)

* I second the Holiday Inn on Highland Beach. Always had good chow there.

* Carol's Kitchen in Boca Raton. Rotating list of 8 soups on the menu, plus French Onion and Chili every day. Lots of good comfort food. SW out parcel of Town Center Mall, St. Andrews south of Glades Rd. 21202 Saint Andrews Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33433

* Sandwich Man at Atlantic Ave and Congress Ave, NW corner. Good subs, lots of meat, with some interesting custom sandwiches:
Michaelangelo - an italian work of art.
The Boss - born in the USA.
Christopher Columbus - discover something new
Sicilian Special - hot tempered!
Uncle Nino
etc. Their menus are online in a few places

Bucky's BBQ Boca Raton

This weekend a new banner went up covering up Bucky's BBQ sign - "D. Wade Sports Bar". Is this Dwayne Wade's new place? Stay tuned.

I Second the motion to add Jack's Old Fashioned Hamburgers as well! Fresh meat, cooked while you wait, and lots of condiments available to build your own burger. Pompano Beach location is my favorite. Is the Fort Lauderdale Federal Hwy one still open?

Bucky's BBQ Boca Raton

This Boca Raton location has been cursed ever since Tom's Ribs moved from there 20 years ago in 1987 to their next home on Federal Hwy in Boca Raton. Tom's Ribs are still around, just in West Palm Beach now, having abandoned their final Boca Raton location a couple of years ago. This spot at Glades and Dixie has been a revolving door for 20 years, Bucky's BBQ, Grinders, Mario's, Jumbo's Restaraunt, are the ones I recall.

South Florida Lobster Bisque

I love the Lobster Bisque at Carole's Kitchen in Boca Raton. They always have 6 to 8 soups on the menu. Lunch during off season, Lunch/Dinner during Season. St. Andrews Blvd South of Glades Rd, SW out parcel of Town Center mall. In well over 50 meals, I've never been disappointed by the food quality at Carole's.

Boca Raton area sports bar with good food.

Too Late for your post, but here's a 2008 response.

Flannigan Guppy's Federal Hwy one block south of Palmetto Park Rd. Good sports bar, super fresh food, regular TVs. Best place if you are in the City, east of I-95.

Boca Ale House - Glades Rd. and Lyons, SW corner. Lots of screens, used to have maps to show fans where to sit in bar so you could be with other fans of your team.

Duffy's - Palm Beach County sports bar chain with multiple locations. St Andrews Blvd south of Glades Rd. Southwest out-parcel of Town Center Mall. Lots of TVs and seperate Bar and eating areas.

There's a couple of places along Yamato Rd between I-95 and Military Trail. Most opened in 06-07, so its a chance on how good the food is.

Bru's Room's, 3 near by; in Delray, Atlantic Ave and eastern RR tracks. Deerfield Beach on A1A one half block north of Hillsboro Blvd. Coconut Creek on Hillsboro Blvd just east of State Rd. 7/441.

Old Town Tavern - Boca Raton

> ... it's all for naught.

I disagree. Once these guys close, the next restaurant there will not have to spend all their money on the building, and can focus on the menu and service.

I ate their today. Food was average in quality, but overpriced for this level of quality. In six months I'll try again, whomever is there.
