I've gotta say... the penne al limone at Trattoria Vivolo is fan-diddly-tastic.

May 2008 Wedding in the Hudson Valley

cobbler, I attended a small wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns back in July. It was indeed pricey, but the atmosphere was so unique and intimate, and the food was TO DIE FOR. Everyone moaned with pleasure throughout the entire several-course meal. The food experience tied all of us guests together, and we had a fantastic time. The bride and groom were married outdoors overlooking the farm, and after the cocktail hour (also outdoors) we were led to a private room for dinner. It was so lovely and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Port Chester town write-up Part I. Great Chow!!! (long)

I agree that Patrias is an excellent spot for tapas. One thing I've learned, though, is that it's a good idea to make a reservation. Even when the place is nearly empty, they often claim that all tables are reserved.

any place in NY/CT have Fried Oreos for dessert?

They have Fried Oreos at Fortunato's Villa Pasta* in New Fairfield, CT. It's a tiny little place, lacking in deco, but with usually great service and huuuuuge family-style portions of good Italian-American food at incredible prices. Try the seafood pasta before you indulge on the Fried Oreos.

Piccolo Mulino in Mamaroneck

Just wanted to share my thoughts on this often overlooked Italian gem in Mamaroneck. Piccolo Mulino (not to be confused with Mulino's in White Plains) is lovely! True, the dining room is tiny, and the tables are close together, but the food is excellent and the service is prompt and kind. Rather than claustrophobic, they've always made me feel cozy. The gnocchi, in particular, is melt-in-your-mouth superb.
