Concentrated crab boil
I just boiled eighty pounds yesterday and used 16 oz. in each batch along with one four pound cOntainer of the spice mix.
crawfish etouffee
No one in my family has attempted to make bisque since my grandmother passed away. They all remember the work involved and don't dare attempt it.
Mogo Korean Tacos Asbury Park
I tried the same Saturday. Had the sauce and kimchi on all. I thought the pork and chicken were the best. I would definitely go again. They do need to put some signage as to where to order even though the register is all the way to the right. Everyone was very confused.
Pilsener Haus & Biergartan German
Yep. It is much better than the beer garden in Jersey City. Food is much better. I can't speak for the beer selection as I can't drink it but the gluten free beer option is good. No tvs which some people hate but I love it as it forces people to actually have conversations.
German Restaurants in NJ
The Pilsner House has improved their menu since opening. The best I had in Jersey was a place that closed, can't recall the name but it was on Route 23 where Tiff's is now.
Sweet Olive
Just read they are closing. Last dinner service will be Sunday. On phone so no link.
Camellia Grill
I've only been there a couple of times in all my years living there. I never did get the love for it. I guess it's a childhood thing for some people.
Hobokenhound, where are you in Hoboken? I'm back on Madison between 6th and 7th.
Italian Cheesecake (aka Ricotta Pie)
Unless they know someone who lives in town and calls the order in. Residents don't have to wait in line, and I'm not certain but if you called in an order you may not have to wait in line to pick it up. The line is for tourists.
JazzFest time frame food choices
I honestly haven't had anything at the fest that I disliked, although that being said, the crawfish bread just isn't the same as it once was and is not part of my meals out there. I also can't eat bread anymore.
I used to always get the cuban sandwich to start each day, but that has changed. The pheasant quail and andouille gumbo is always outstanding. The meaty white beans and rice (near the blues tent) is great. I had some ribs last year that were excellent. I have never had the crawfish Monica.
The fresh made cracklins are always great.

And for me the RB poboy is the measuring stick between all poboy places. Maybe that is because I don't like fried seafood on a sandwich, not much fried seafood at all as I would prefer it raw (oysters), boiled (shrimp etc) or chargrilled (oysters)

I had read the people that bought the building and parasols were from Florida. The guy that ran things at the old parasols opened traceys
New Orleans on a Budget
Dunbar's on the Loyola Campus, just about any poboy place with the exception of Mahoney's is cheap.
New Orleans next week. Looking for something new.
Since you hit Plum Street on your last visit, give Hansens a try this time. I like it better than PLum Street and Plum Street is very near my heart as my mother used to drive us in from Metry once a week to get snowballs there.

The city of New Orleans, Louisiana allows the possession and consumption on the street of any alcoholic beverage in an open plastic container (not in glass bottles or containers). Throughout the rest of Louisiana, however, open containers are still prohibited.
I think the drive through daquiri places sell them to go, but they will put tape over the hole for the straw and if you are caught in the car with the tape off you can get a ticket. But I could be mistaken about that. I know when I was in college in Baton Rouge I recall drinking on the streets but that was during fairs or a festival or parade in Spanish Town. I honestly don't recall walking between bars with drinks but that was a while back.
Beale Street and a few other places around the country also allow open containers.

It's legal anywhere in the city, just don't carry glass bottels. That's why the bars have go cups at the exits.

The Nawlins thing was my first thought as well but didn't want to point it out right out the gate.Lol

I don't like seafood poboys as I prefer my seafood either raw or boiled as opposed to fried. I am not a fan of the bbq shrimp poboy at Liuzza's By the Track. I have only ever had the roast beef at Domilise's.
I typically am a roast beef poboy person only, and my favorites are the roast beef poboy at R&O's in Bucktown, or the R&O Special. I also like Parkway. Guy's poboys on Magazine has, or used to have a realaly good pork chop poboy.

I think Surrey's is well worth it. If you want roast beef poboy I would avoid Domilise's.
As far as Mid City Yacht club, I only know it from my days of playing softball at St Patricks playground across the street before it was turned into the current bar. At the time it was a dump and all I know about it now is it is a good little neighborhood bar.
spiciest food in new orleans
There used to be a place in Baton Rouge that did an all you can eat crawfish boil and they seasoned the outside. That was the first I had ever seen that and the last time I went to that place. It was right by Jubans.

And when you make reservations for the fried chicken dinner, which can only be done online and 30 days in advance, the dinner comes with one chicken fried Southern styl;e and one chicken fried Korean style

And I thought his Southern Fried chicken was the best I have ever had, as did all but one person we were with. I guess it just goes to show you that everyone has different tastes.

Bachelor Party - Assistance.
EJ, send me an email at roro1831@hotmail.com. My friends and I have compiled a list of restaurants and bars with recommendations for people going down. Other friends of ours have used the list and loved it. Some friends had every intention of using the list and didn't make it off of Bourbon Street, those were the ones that were there for a bachelor party.

My grandmother and grandfather were cajun and the food they cooked was not spicy. I think someone along the way marketed cajun food as spicy which it really isn't, just like for some reason I would expect Cuban food to be spicy and it isn't,at least to my tastes. Although when I cook for friends up here they find it spicy since they are not used to spicy foods.
Cajun cooking is about the depth of flavor as opposed to spice. Slow cooked one pot dishes are what my grandmother cooked all the time.
If I want my food more spicy I add hot sauce.
My crawfish on the othert hand tend to come out spicy, especially the second and third batches.

Well, I'm just saying that I have not been impressed on any of my visits. I kept hoping that I caught them on a bad day but on each of my visits I was not impressed. I have no problem with it being a joint, hell I used to go to Henry's soul food on Claiborne and eat turkey necks so I have no problem with it being a joint or the neighborhood that it is in. I am basing my opinion solely on the merits of the fried chicken and itjust doesn't do anything for me. I think it may be the wet batter, just not a fan of it.
I used to be a big fan of the chicken at Mandina's but find that isn't as good as it once was. Sadly the best fried chicken I have had in the last year other than Popeye's was in NYC at one of David Chang's restaurants.
