Best wines around town? Favorite Canadian wines?

Costco, Opimian and the occasional Superstore bargain are my choices. Costco sometimes carries the CDN wines Occulus and Osoyoos Larose. I usually avoid CDN wines but was pleasantly surprised by the BC wine Stag's Hollow Heritage Block 1 (Cabernet - Merlot) blend. Maybe Highlander or Willow Park for this one.

Edmonton: What to Order at Langano Skies and Sofra

Edmonton - German Food Shopping

Try K&K foodliner on Whyte Avenue (82) and around 100st.

Planning my first trip to SFO in August 2010.

Pretty decent taco truck near Best Buy on Harrison and 12th not far from the Costco. For a seafood lunch - Tadich Grill or Sam's Grill. Tadich has pretty good CIOPPINO but I like the one I had at Fog City Diner better. For North Beach Italian Food - L'Osteria Forno has pretty good pizza. Chinatown - the salt and pepper chicken wings at Capital restaurant on Clay Street are superb. Out the door in the Ferry Terminal is great for a quick snack.. But the kicker would be great schnitzel in a beer hall- like atmosphere at Suppenkuche in Hayes.

Maybe try Billingsgate or Sunterra market on the southside.

Wine at Binny's: what do you like at $10-15

Last Sunday I went to the location of Binny's on Grand. Some deals - some of the 2005 Bordeaux was well priced , others less so but the Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown at $50 is a great deal . Many of the Californians - Burgess, Cakebread, Steltzner, Stags Leap Winery and Wine Cellars were cheaper than in California. I found the Dominick (Safeway) and Jewel prices downtown considerably higher.

Sofra Edmonton - alcohol?

Rack of lamb was pretty good when available. Adana kepab top notch as well. The appetizer of fresh pita bread with various dips (red pepper, humous, garlic yogurt) is a real treat. Ambiance is totally Pamuk ... Prairie metropolis meets Turkish confusion

Sofra Edmonton - alcohol?

They have a pretty good assortment of imported and domestic beer and wine. Last time I was there they had EFES pilsner from Turkey.

Chicken Ceasar Salad - Edmonton

Sort of partial toward Blue Plate Diner's chicken caesar salad. Don't know if they do take-out though.

Edmonton-Best Schnitzel?

Saddened by the loss of restaurants such as Gasthaus, Gasthaus Zur Muhle and Bistro Praha, looking for great schnitzel in Edmonton preferably wiener schnitzel. Suggestions appreciated.

anniversary wine to lay down

Aside from picking up the occasional 2005 Bordeaux bargains at the Sherwood Park Costco liquor store, Superstore discontinuations, and Opimian wine selections - maybe try Costco.com on-line (wines for CA etc.) and they will deliver to your folks place or go to the Costco in Palm Desert. In the Palm Springs/Cathedral City area --Ralph's (special section) seems to have a pretty good wine selection, Bristol Farms and possibly Costplus World Market would be my picks. Hope that helps.
