I got my Senseo machine free. The company sent me an email offer. I paid $10 for shipping and that was it. Run a search on google or something and see if you can find it. |

Does this make me a non chow now? Truth be told, I made some spare-ribs from the RR mag (I read it in the Dr.'s waiting room and wrote it on the back of a receipt) and they were really good. So, hold your head up high, you are still a Chowhound and so am I. We both know a good recipe when we see one, regardless of where we may find it. Cheers! |

Hotel BelAir or Riviera C.C. for reception I was married at the Bel-Air and had a very lovely day. They are very good at what they do and you will not have to worry about anything. As far as the Riviera, I don't know who your wedding guests are, but it can be tricky inviting people to a place that was racially restricted for so much of its history. I know some people would never go there (or the California Club, etc) for that reason. |

Needed old school steakhouse in LA Thanks for the LB tip. BTW, I ADORE your screen name. I am the queen of low blood sugar - at least that's what I use to justify my endless hunger and perpetual crabby mood. |

Needed old school steakhouse in LA Taylor's, Taylor's, Taylor's!!! There is no other answer. It is EXACTLY what you are looking for (I'm talking about the one on 8th in Ktown). |

searching for best Monte Cristo sandwich in L.A. There is a very basic but good MC at Dupar's at the Farmer's Market. |

I have had them both (my in-laws live very nearby) and they're good but they're not unbelievably good. They're not good enough to erase all of the things that are only OK or the hassle of waiting, do you know what I mean? |

I have to agree with you. Every time I have been there I have been, shall we say, underwhelmed. It's a total hassle on a weekend. Even on a weekday when the crowds are not there, it's just not all it's cracked up to be. |
|
|
I must disagree. I was there on a very busy Thursday night a couple of weeks ago and everything was fresh and delicious. |

I second Sasabune. Yum! |

Real Chicago Pizza/Hot Dogs, where? The Stand has a really good Chicago style dog, complete with celery salt and the weird green relish. Now I want one, darn it. |

Charbroiled Burgers in the Westside? My goodness, you are an early riser. Or up super-late. Thanks for the warning. |

Sir Lancelot Flour in Los Angeles? I also just looked at the King Arthur website and it looks like you can order 3lb. bags of the Sir Lancelot flour directly from them. Kingarthurflour.com |

Sir Lancelot Flour in Los Angeles? I am sorry to report that I put my flour in a canister and recycled the bag a couple of weeks ago. I did, however, find a high gluten flour (13%) available in a 5lb. bag from Surfas. If you check the website (surfasonline.com) you'll find it. Sorry! |

Sir Lancelot Flour in Los Angeles? I have some and I either bought it at Ralph's Fresh Fare or Whole Foods (seeing as I almost never go anywhere else). I am almost positive it is from Ralph's. |

OMG, I'm going tomorrow night, too! I just logged on to ask this same question. We're at 7:30. I am so excited! |

Plus, 'Hounders, let's not forget to mention that Javan has a full bar. Does anyone know which of the restaurants mentioned serve any alcohol? |
|

I was looking for slushy drinks, but boozy ice cream/sorbet will work, too! Tell me some of the combos that you have tried. Do you think they would work to make something sort of booze-float-y? I do love me some summer drinks. Thanks! |

Lowenbrau Keller is already closed. Another rest. has opened in its place but it is NOT serving German food. |
|
|
I saw the story with a couple of recipes but I'm hoping my fellow 'hounds have some secret drinks that they'll share. I volunteer to make them all and report back! |

Is it Just me? re: J Gold - LA Weekly - I'm afraid it may be you because it's all I can do to not get in the car and go to these places right this minute. |

Kosher for Passover Coke vs regular Kosher Coke: why? Mexican Coke is made with cane sugar, not HFCS. Doesn't that mean it is always kosher? Does the stamp help people make sure or does it have to be treated in some different way? |

Barn Burner- in need of a Texas Size ass-whoop'n If we are discussing regional variations, does anyone know a place that does a Memphis dry rub style BBQ? |

Breakfast Souffle [split from Food Media] Thank you very, very much. I will follow your instructions and report back. You have done an excellent job articulating all of this. Are you a pro? If not, you should be. |
