I live in Princeton, Iowa, about 10 miles northeast of LeClaire. There is nothing special about anything in LeClaire. My husband and I have eaten at the "fancy" places in LeClaire (Faithful Pilot and Steventon's) and were less than impressed by both. LeClaire's "charm" lies solely in its atmosphere and view of the river. Its restaurants feel no need to serve decent food in hopes that you will be distracted by the charming views.
For great prime rib, we like to go to T.C.'s Point After in DeWitt, Iowa. Yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall bar, but it's in those types of places you're going to find the best food in the area. Another one of our favorites is Granite City. It's a chain, but we've had consistently good experiences there. The wait can be kind of long, though.
