brunch with live music?

Who has ideas and suggestions? I've heard of the bluegrass brunch at the Dakota, the Yiddish brunch at Free Times, and the jazz brunch at Cajun Corner, but are there any others around town? How about the hotels? Or maybe an open mike brunch?

Game meat

Lady & Son just got a whole Bison in, but she's putting some age on it (dry), so it won't be ready for a couple of weeks. Well worth the wait, I'm sure.

Kubo Radio Delivery: Abysmal!

OK, my question is: why did you accept the delivery at all at that point?! I would have told them to keep it and shove it......well, you know. We are too polite in this city. We tip bad service and accept the unacceptable. Tell me Vorpal, tell me you didn't tip the driver and tell me you did call to complain to the owner....please!!!!

BEST Pizza in T.O

I heard L'il Bacci also offers a decent gluten-free crust option. Anyone tried it? Anyone have any other suggestions for gluten-free pizza other than Il Fornello, Magic Oven, and now Pizza Pizza?

Butcher in st-lawrence market?

Can I add to the question and ask for all Chowhounders to name their fave butcher wherever he/she may be (within the GTA)? And why?

Cheers!

Where in Canada can I buy untreated Teff seeds?

Can't speak to "in Canada", but I heard of a grain grower who added tef to his crops down in the U.S. Can't remember the details, but I found that by Googling. Good luck. Have you tried stopping into some Ethiopian shops to ask?

5th Elementt??

Way over-priced and horrible...I repeat...horrible food. Some of it inedible. $160. for two and we left feeling cheated, and a wee bit woozy. Big white plates does not haut-cuisine make.

Oysters Toronto 2008

I'm a Rodney's loyalist. IMO, best selection, freshest, and I like the feeling of the place. It's got a long history with roots and Rodney is passionate about oysters and oyster farmers.

Best Indian in Toronto - where is it?

I really thought the web site did mention Northern Indian and Bengali...look again. I had perfect pakora, buttery palak paneer, delish shrimp with mango and pomegranate, delicate rice, brilliant, smoky chicken tikka masala, nicely bubbled naan, strong chai, creamy kulfi and sweet and warm gulab jamun. It was all delish.

Best Indian in Toronto - where is it?

Try Chakra on Yonge north of Eg. Soooooooooooooo good. New joint. Pretty inside. Beautiful presentation. Attention to detail. Exceptionally good food. Not cheap, about double the prices of Gerrard St. Indian, but well worth it.

The Dakota Tavern?

Hi, sadly the fried chicken was rather disappointing. It was very oily and bland, and the greens and rice on the side were almost stone cold. The one high point was the flavour of the greens, they were tasty, and I would have happily given up one of the two legs in favour of more greens. The piles of rice and greens were TINY too. The old-time bluegrass saved the day! I too am craving real, down-south, fried chicken and collards.

Best Sandwiches in Toronto!!! Where are they?

Yes, but I can't compare, since I had never been there before. But from what I could tell, the menu was just the same.

Best Sandwiches in Toronto!!! Where are they?

Black Camel has yummy pulled pork and brisket. I had a nice juicy chicken sandie with avocado in a warm pita at Gayley's. There's always the peameal bacon classic in St. Lawrence Mrkt. And some swear by California Sandwiches and Vietnamese subs from various joints. The sweet breakfast Chocolate Elvis sandwich at Okay Okay is killer.

Where to commonly find a cast-iron pan?

I find cast iron that just needs a little love at Value Village ALL THE TIME! For cheap! Or, I think Nella on Queen E has a bunch of sizes and grill style ones too.

Yup, you can buy it at Leslieville cheese market on Queen E. at Logan. I look at it every time and have flash-backs to my childhood! :-o

City TV, eh? That's very cool!
As for prices...that's something else I like about these guys. Each chocolate runs .55 to .85 each! So you can lots!!!! The cookies are delish too.

Best hot chocolate in Toronto?

That's really great! I for one really want to see these nice folks make a go of it here in Leslieville. Have you tried their bonbons yet? Nice and small, so you can try quite a few flavours without going overboard.

Cambodian Curry?

There's a Cambodian resto on Gerrard east of Broadview...something like Ankor Wat...Wot?...pardon me...I'm not sure....anyway, the owner is very friendly and he might be able to help. Food's OK too.
