Has anyone tried A Taste of Europe in Cobleskill?? Went for the first time last night to their Belgian Independence Day Dinner and this was the hands down the best meal I've had in a long time. It's like eating at grandma's (provided your gran is a fabulous cook) - fresh, delicious food, lovingly prepared and gorgeously presented. Meal was beautifully paced with the owners checking with us after each course. It's charming and has a very Old World feel. To me, it was everything a dining experience shoud be. They have a website:

Try Ravenous for a casual supper. Sweet and savory crepes as well as delicious Belgian pommes frites. Country Corner Cafe for breakfast - homemade jams and real maple syrup.

Clarksville is about 7 miles southwest of Delmar.
We like to hike Thatcher Park, then hit the restaurant after. Here's the link to the website:

Jake Moon in Clarksville. Former chef of Nicole's Bistro in Albany. An out of the way gem!!

Thank you for the Potsdam recommendations. I guess it will be a Clarkson game next time around!

OK, I'm replying to my own post for future reference, and if anyone else cares. Had dinner and breakfast at the Blackbird Cafe on Main St. in Canton. Very fresh food, lots of vegetarian choices and wonderful homemade desserts. Nothing fancy, but a delightful place.

Going to a St. Lawrence hockey game in a few weeks. Are there any good, casual restaurants in the area for a bite to eat before the game? No chains, please!!
