Yakitori Zai

Anyone seen a menu yet? It is not posted on their website yet.
I am sincerely hoping that there will be many grilled nasty bits on sticks. I'm tired of driving to New York just to get good Yakitori.....

Killer Roast Lamb Sandwich - Greek Corner Cambridge

And that is why no one believes Nova Scotians

Killer Roast Lamb Sandwich - Greek Corner Cambridge

There is a great Greek community in Montreal. It is possible that the emigres all came from the same region of Greece, which might explain some of the culinary differences.

Killer Roast Lamb Sandwich - Greek Corner Cambridge

I've been a regular here for over a decade. For those of you who know Montreal-style Greek food, this is the place to get it!

Need Help with Choosing a CSA for Summer '12

1/2 share at Stillman's was always plenty for 2 people - worked out to 3 vs. 6 zuccini, 1 vs. 2 varieties of kale, smaller vs. larger container of blueberries, 1 vs 2 Red Peppers, and fewer pick-whatever-you-want options, but never silly things like 1 ear of corn.

Need Help with Choosing a CSA for Summer '12

While I have no comparison to make with other CSAs, we've done Stillman's for 5 consecutive years. If that is not a ringing endorsement, don't know what is.
Produce is great, half share option was perfect until our family grew to justify the full and the Stillman family are all lovely. We're signing up with them again this year -

Looking to buy good quality smoked salmon ( not cured salmon) in the greater boston area?

Apparently the Whole Foods in Dedham has their own smoking outfit - we've bought nice smoked salmon there that was unavailable in other WF stores -

Yesterday I had a legitimate "Foodgasm"

Best shellfish tower?

Smith and Wollensky has a great one too with all the bells and whistles - I think it comes in 2 sizes - large and ridiculously large.

CSA Rating

Four or five years into our Stillman's half-share - Have never had a complaint. Our box is often too big for the family and Glenn lets us swap things at our discretion when there is lots to go around.
Comment on the thread: Being a member of a CSA gives me much more of a visceral 'this feels right' feeling than being able to compare whose tomatoes were better. So choose a convenient farm, talk to the farmer, and support local agriculture. You won't be disappointed regardless of the crop.
Just my 2 cents.

Restaurant Week!

Toro follows the Estragon model as well - majority of the menu available:
For RW, table of 2 gets 2 pinchos, 5 tapas and 2 deserts.

Some dishes normally considered pinchos were 'upgraded' to tapas on the menu, so depending on how you order, overall you might save a few buck off the regular menu pricing. Wasn't thinking this way when I was there, so I just looked at the menu - doing the math, 2 RW covers basically amounted to what we ordered anyway, and we ended up essentially getting free desert (2 slices of manchego and 1 small churro).

Clearly saving $10 on 2 small desert plates is not motivation to go to Toro - it was really good (but really loud) on Tuesday night.

Dinner in Newton Centre

See my comments above . Thumbs up.

Dinner in Newton Centre

Meh

Dinner in Newton Centre

We've tried B Street - Nice menu - Nice portions. I was in the mood for a juicy burger when I was there - would have enjoyed it too, had my son (CH-in-training) not stolen it from me. The 'side' of mac and cheese was a) delicious b) more than a meal for my 5 year old daughter.

ISO Boston Shave Ice

Shave Ice is a Hawaiian phenom -

If you're up to a bit of a drive, I've seen it on the boardwalk at Hampton Beach, recently. Alternatively, hop on the next flight to Kona.

Al Wadi, Lebanese restaurant in West Roxbury

The Chicken with fries (and Lebanese pickes) were the highlight of our meal there too - I though protion sizes were quite nice.

Porter Cafe in West Rox?

Were there kids there during meal times / Is it 21+?
(Is it a bar with a good menu, or is it a restaurant with a good beer list?)

staff meal food truck

I thought I saw the truck hanging around this past weekend - There are no signs and the truck was not even parked as if it wanted to be doling out food - couldn't tell if this was for the public, or literally, a catering service for the businesses served by that parking lot....

For those of you who are not WR natives, the Boston Artisan Market is at the corner of Baker and Spring St, across the street from Tony's Italian place.

Anyone have any real updates?

One night near Westin - Boston CH needs tips!

Thanks all for the rec's

Ended up meeting some friends who had made a reservation based on a rec from another local -
We hopped in a cab and ate at Joule -
Really neat menu and quite tasty!

One night near Westin - Boston CH needs tips!

I am in town for one night and will be near the Westin, without a car. Looking for something interesting for dinner; unique to Seattle would be a plus - nothing tremendously expensive, please. No real restrictions other than that - I'll try just about anything -

Oh, and tell me what to order once I am there!

Thanks -

Sticky Rice Cafe, West Rox

Only ate at Phuket once (should be telling enough), and was not really impressed - it seemed to be trying to do high-end thai food, but it did not come across well executed to me -

Sticky Rice Cafe, West Rox

Sticky Rice Cafe recently opened in the old Samia's space (briefly occupied by Falafel King).

We were there during opening week - me, wifey and 2 kids (1 of whom is a CIT - Chowhound-in-Training).

Menu is very big, but none of the sushi items were yet available. That's probably OK because Thai food is going to be the specialty, despite this being a pan-Asian place. The manager said his wife was Thai, and I suspect it was her mother who was cooking and personally brought out our dinner. To me, this is generally a good sign - and we were not disappointed.

To start, we had a plate of mixed satay and Tod Mun. The satay - 2 each of beef/chicken/shrimp - had a little too much south indian curry to my taste, but was tasty nonetheless. The Tod Mun, a standard thai app, were really good and not greasy at all.

The mains were a Duck in Mango curry sauce, and a Mixed Seafood in Yellow Curry Sauce were both really good. The duck was plentiful - a full half duck I think - for about 15$, and there was adequate amounts of shrimp/scallop/squid on the seafood platter that each of us had a few bits of everything.

The sticky rice was not great, I'm afraid to say, and came wrapped in saran wrap. Odd. We had some plain brown rice too.

The space is small, with seating for about 20, but they did a nice take-out business the night we were there, despite it being the middle of the week.

The manager was very nice, and eager to please. He comp'ed us Thai iced tea for the table as well as a DELICIOUS deep fried ice cream thing for dessert. That dish alone might be worth going back for....

Overall, I think the food was very good and was fresher and less oily than Thai Spice which is just down the street. Will definitely go back.

Al Wadi in West Roxbury last night

I've had the lamb shank - it was done nicely. My favorite is an easy restaurant classic that surprisingly they did very well - Roasted 1/2 chicken and fries with Lebanese pickles!

Garlic N Lemons

though I have never been, my wife tried it this weekend and thought it was greatt. Decided it was worth a trek across town -

Living Social - Sea to You

Works exactly like a Groupon.
One perk - If you purchase and refer 3 or more people to the deal (with a personalized link) then YOUR deal is free -
Any takers????

Living Social - Sea to You

Never had sushi from this place - Am I risking it by buying the deal today (45$ for 64 pieces)?
yes, yes, yes I know there is plenty of other good sushi around, but I'm curious.

No. 1 Noodle House Newton

I think for an honest, good bowl of noodle soup, you can't go wrong at this place. As Peregrine points out, the Singaporean-style Seafood Lhaksa is really quite good, but even the standards like Wonton Noodle Soup with Roast Duck is done well. i don't think there is anything in the area that gives you the Chinatown feel without having to drag ourselves out from the 'burbs just for a good bowl of noodle soup in the middle of the week, The prices cannot be beat for quick eats and the portion sizes are very generous. I'm a regular.

Help!! Cambridge restaurant with private room for group of 12???

We use the Rialto room all the time - attentive staff, and since this is work related, I think they have a projector/screen if you need to use them -
