Moving to the East Village

The sandwiches, salads & coffee at Paradiso are all awesome. Really fresh ingredients, interesting flavor combinations & awesome staff.

Although if you're just getting off of a night of heavy drinking or looking for a quick take out bite, my go to sandwich spot is still Sunny & Annie deli on 6th & B. They've been helping me get over hangovers since 2001. I don't know what they put in the sandwiches (crack maybe?) but they are just really damn good...

What to order at Bond St?

I used to go to Bond Street a lot as my friend worked in the lounge downstairs. I haven't been there in a while, but I was particularly fond of the Sea Bass skewers. They're more of a appetizer sized dish, but honestly I can't explain how good they are. Give them a try when you're there.

I understand your view of Bond St. My last dining experience upstairs for my father's birthday was a complete & utter disaster & I have not been back since. The food was great, but the service ruined the entire meal. I hope things go better for you. Enjoy!

Peking Duck, Chinatown for Thanksgiving

The duck there is great (perhaps the best in Chinatown?), but you will have to get a reservation as the Mayor noted.

Bill's Bar & Burger: OMG I Agree with Alan Richman (Sort Of)

I went to Bill's 2 weeks ago & I have to admit that the burger was suspect at best.I hope they're going to sort things out over there...

Where to buy a sausage stuffer?

You could check Chef Restaurant Supply on Bowery & Houston, but I'd go to Bowery Kitchen Supply in Chelsea Market. I thing Waring makes a stand alone grinder/stuffer.

Luke's Lobster

I thought for $14 that the lobster roll was a bit on the small side but I will agree that it was delicious.

Jewel Bako...So close but....

I've always enjoyed Jewel Bako, but I do think it's a bit on the expensive side. I do prefer Yasuda though...

Braised oxtails - help please..

I'd normally agree with you there, but not when it's being served in a sauce on rigatoni!

Homemade Breakfast Sausages

Thanks for the replies guys - I'll be going raw then. I too would love to have a gander at your recipes! Thanks again!

Homemade Breakfast Sausages

I'm really, really fed up with the storebought frozen stuff, so I've found a bunch of recipes online for the homemade version of these patties. I'd like to cook a bunch & then freeze/re-fry them as needed. I'm unsure as whether to freeze the patties raw, or pre-cooked. I'm leaning towards that latter. Any advice would be appreciated.

Single guy, first time in NYC, but going solo...

Right there in the Maritime is La Bottega which serves up really good Italian. I've been there several times & really enjoy it. You might be loathe to eat in the hotel, but trust me, the food is good & there's normally an interesting crowd there. I recommend the pork chop.

yakitori

I've eaten at Village Yokocho several times & have never been disappointed (although I cannot comment directly on the yakitori). I have yet to go to Taisho. Is that the place on the North side between 2&3rd that's always packed/line out the door?

Quick NY Bagel Poll: H&H or Ess-a-Bagel

I just read that H&H got shut down due to past due taxes... I think that knocks one contender out of the running.

For such a large party, Golden Unicorn might be your best bet, particularly on a Sunday...

Le Miu-RIP

Honestly, I'm not going to shed a tear for Le Miu. I loved the staff, but I think it was far too expensive. Ebisu, on the other hand, I will miss.

best pub fish & chips around east village/stuytown?

I really enjoyed the Fish & Chips at Butcher Bay. They were not greasy at all, but I couldn't tell you if they were beer battered.

Great Rest. Near Alphabet Lounge (104 Ave. C @ 12th St.)

I agree with Kasadela or Mercadito, both excellent options, but on a Sat., Mercadito might be packed. Best of luck!

Group of 11 in their mid 20s seeks fun manhattan restaurant

I second Tortilla Flats. The food isn't anything to write home about, but the atmosphere is amazing. If you like tequila-based drinks & happen to get Royston as your waiter, you're sure to have a blast!

EU (waaaay) downhill

I watched with much excitement as the place was fitted out as I often walk down 4th Street. I went there with my parents shortly after on my Dad's birthday. I was totally & utterly disappointed by the meal & experience. I never went back there & I am not surprised that they closed.

Restaurant with a lounge or club scene for my 30th b-day

Great recommendation. I ate a La Bottega last weekend & it was amazing (get the pork chop!). Cabanas is fun too, though I've never been there in winter...
