My second visit, and there won't be a third. When a restaurant opens, you expect problems, but the ones I experienced were pretty severe. The pickled items tasted bad, the orders did not arrive with any consistency and the overall quality was spotty. When you have people taking orders for deli items that have NO IDEA what the menu items are, there are always problems. Clearly the staff has not been educated. Also, the table next to me ordered the potato pancakes and were horrified at what was brought to their table. The chef then came out and apologized saying they were "experimenting" . This is never a good term to use with diners.
Stopsky's Deli?
I've been twice. Both times they were out of food and "closed" with lame excuses. This does not bode well. This is a PR fiasco, and most of us won't be coming back.

Thanks everyone. I went to Prima and it was nice. The salad was fresh and delicious, the setting was great, and the gnocchi were fresh and tasty. My only knock was on the waitstaff. Our waitress was trying to be more sophisticated and directive than the event called for. We brought our own wine and she insisted on us sampling it first. I informed her that we had brought it ourselves, and therefore, that was unnecessary and she proceeded to argue with us about "10% of wines being corked," etc. She was a pain.

Where to buy sustainable seafood in SF?
This is not SF proper, but Sausalito. Fish is very thoughtful about sustainability and will tell their story in a understandable way. Furthermore, the food is delicious. The only drawback is that it is pricey and they only take cash.

OK, I totally understand what you are looking for, because I looked as well. I found Nova Lox at Molly Stone's Grocery Store in Greenbrae, Bon Air Shopping Center. It is also at Woodlands Market in Kentfield. Both in Marin.

Interesting point. I challenge anyone to go on Open Table right now and try and get reservations at French Laundry. Good Luck!!!! Oh, and when you get tired of that exercise, try Slanted Door or Boulevard. Now, that you are thoroughly exhausted, go back and book Le Garage for dinner, TOMORROW night at 7 PM. Case closed!

In the past, the restaurant did not need to solicit a website to induce diners. It was packed every night. Why would a popular eatery pay a website to bring in more diners unless it's customer base was declining?

The last few times I have gone, it has gotten progressively worse. The first sign of their imminent demise is that they are on "Open Table". The second sign is that on a Saturday night there are numerous empty tables.
Tonight, the special French Onion Soup was cold. And oh, by the way, it tasted like it came out of the Safeway frozen food section. Then the Cassoulet was a bunch of canned beans with a few slices of cold sausage on top.
This was my last visit there.

OK, so I walked down the hill to Tadich (5 minutes down, 10 minutes back). It exceeded my expectations. The place is a "blast from the past." I sat by myself at the long counter and ordered the Sand Dabs. The waiter filleted it for me, and it was tender, delicate and delicious. My man next to me had the Crab Louis and they did not scrimp on the Crab. He was quite happy. They bring you an endless supply of good Sourdough bread and it was delicious as well. I can't wait to go back.
